Question:
can a slider hitch be used instead of a sidewinder on a 2010 Nissan Titan cc with 5-1/2 foot bed

Expert Reply:
A slider hitch should not be used on a truck bed shorter than 6 feet because first, the bed is not long enough for the slider to slide back without the trailer pin box hitting the tailgate. And second a slider will not offer enough travel to be able to make 90 degree turns without hitting the truck and trailer together.
On a 5-1/2 foot bed on your 2010 Nissan Titan pretty much the only option is to use a fixed hitch and a Sidewinder replacement pin box on the trailer. For base rails use part # C16470-204.
I have included a link to our informational article on Sidewinders for you.
