Question:
Would you recommend a hitch mounted or trunk mounted bike rack for a new CX9. I myself would be more comfortable with a hitch mounted. I noticed the hitch made for the CX9 - is it indeed mounted with no welding ? Could it be removed if needed ?And what bike rack would you recommend? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hitch mounted bike racks are the way to go. They provide a more secure attachment to a vehicle that doesn't contact any painted surfaces.
For a hitch I would recommend the Curt Hitch part # 13575 that has a 2 inch opening. 2 inch hitches will have higher capacities and will offer more flexibility for future hitch accessories. This hitch does not require any welding for installation, and you could remove it pretty easily as well.
The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack part # S64670. This rack has a ton of positive reviews from our customers who have tried it. Check out the review video I attached for more info.
