The brake controller I recommend is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 and the # 22292 wiring harness. It is a proportional brake controller, and the wiring adapter allows easier connection and disconnection of this item from your vehicle. It is the easiest brake controller to use and once you have set up the controller you will not have to change with the settings again.
I have provided a link to a video showing the installation of this item on a similar truck. The connection point for the wiring harness is located behind the center console. I have included a link to the installation details for the wiring harness and brake controller that explain the process.
