Question:
Im trying to decide which platform bike rack would be best. I have a standard mens bike. a ladies bike with stepthrough frame. and kids 20inch bike. i think im leaning toward the saris freedom 4. but also looking at the other platform options such as the swagman xtc. i think with the variety of bikes that the two arm hanging models would be too complicated. any advice would be appreciated.

The Saris Freedom 4 Bike Platform Rack, part # SA4414B might be just the bike rack you need.
You said you have 3 different frame style bikes you wish to carry and the # SA4414B can accommodate bikes with many style frames. The center masts have cushioned straps that adjust independently and won't scratch or scuff the bike frames. This carrier can tilt away form the rear of the vehicle without unloading the bikes so you have access to the rear cargo area of your vehicle.
The carrier also has sliding wheel trays with ratcheting straps to secure the bikes wheels to the trays. This carrier weighs 53 lbs.
Another nice platform-style bike carrier is the Swagman XTC4, part # S64665. This carrier also has the adjustable wheel hoops and adjustable hooks on the masts to fit bikes with almost any style bike frame. The center masts fold down to allow access to the rear cargo area of your vehicle. This bike carrier weighs 59 lbs.
I have attached links to a couple of product review videos you can check out.
