Question:

This BandW Companion OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch for Ford Super Duty Prep Package looks ideal for my 2015 F350 dually, but my 38foot DRV trailer is 18,500 without cargo, only allowing for 1500 pounds of cargo before matching the 20,000 pound weight limit for this hitch. Any ideas?

The excellent B&W Companion OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3300 for Ford trucks that you referenced is indeed rated for 20,000-lbs towing capacity. And if your trailer is 18,500-lbs dry, I certainly see why you are looking for additional capacity and safety margin.

We do offer an alternative that is also designed for your F-350's factory 5th wheel rail kit. Curt hitch # C16039 also drops right in to your rail kit and offers a gross towing rating of 24,000-lbs. I have linked both review and installation videos to illustrate its features.
