Yes. When installing any of the available hitches, for your 2010 Mini Cooper, including the Curt Trailer Hitch, # C11160, you will need to temporarily remove the rear bumper. With the Curt hitch, you will also need to trim or modify the heat shield for installation. This hitch fits Mini Coopers with Single Exhaust except S and Works models. I have included a link to the instructions below.
For wiring, I recommend the Curt Wiring, # C59236. This wiring harness is designed for your Mini Coopers Pulse Width Modulation System. It includes a powered converter that connects to the vehicle battery to eliminate power draw on the taillights.
The other available hitch, # C11130, fits the S series Mini Cooper. This hitch also requires that you temporarily remove the rear bumper and trim or modify the heat shield. The trimming is required for models with center exhaust. Trimming of the rear valance is required for installation of this hitch.
