Question:

Can a front mount 2inch hitch be used as a base plate for 4 wheel down towing? I have used the Blue Ox base plates with the Avail tow bar on many vehicles. Wondering if I can set up a 2012 Jeep Liberty for towing by starting out with a front hitch instead of the Blue Ox base plate? This would allow me to use the front 2inch hitch for other purposes. A fabricated interface would be installed in the 2inch reciever to attach to the AvaiI tow bar.

There is no safe or recommended way to use a tow bar to flat tow a vehicle that has a front mounted hitch installed on it.

The only way I can recommend you flat tow your 2012Jeep Liberty with your Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar # BX7420 is to install a base plate kit on your 2012 Jeep Liberty.

The correct base plate kit would be the part # BX1131. Check out the install video I attached as well.

Since front hitches and base plate kits both use the same area for installation you really can't have both installed at the same time.
