There are adapters available like part # HTAD to convert a 1-1/4 inch hitch opening to a 2 inch opening. However, using any adapter will cut your hitch capacity in half, so you will need to ensure that the weight of the bike rack, bikes, and any items in your rear cargo area will not exceed 100 pounds total.

The hitches available for your 2010 Kia Soul are class I, with a 200 pound tongue weight rating. When you add the adapter into the equation your hitch capacity would drop to 100 pounds of tongue weight.

Your best bet to maximize the capacity of your Class I receiver would be to invest in a platform-type rack that is designed to work with your receiver.

The Swagman XC, part # S64650 is a good entry-level rack that uses ratcheting hooks to secure the bike to the rack. The hooks are lockable with the addition of an optional padlock like part # 131D. A locking hitch pin, part # S64029 is also available.

A good median-priced option would be the Swagman XTC-2, part # S64670. The ratcheting hook set-up is similar to the XC model, but the wheel hoops are much more substantial. The wheel hoops also use straps to hold the bike more securely. The locking hitch pin described above is also recommended.

At the higher end of the price spectrum is the Thule Double Track Pro XT, part # TH92BJ. The Double Track will fold up against the rear of the vehicle when not in use, and includes the lock to secure the bikes to the rack and the rack to the hitch.
