Fulton XLT Winch Recommendation for a 1,700 lb Boat With Carpeted Bunks and Short Winching Distance

Question:
I have a Ranger boat weighing 1,340 lbs. The motor weighs 360 lbs. Thats a total of 1,700 lbs. I have carpeted bunks on my trailer and I typically drive the boat on to the trailer up to a foot or two from the winch. I like the Fulton winches. Would you recommend the 1600 lb. or the 2,000 lb?

Thanks for all of the information you gave me; it makes picking out the correct Fulton XLT winch much easier.
Boat-size-to-winch capacity is generally 2 to 1, so basically since your boat weighs 1,700 lbs you could get away with a winch with half of that in weight capacity. So, the 1,600 lb F2 Winch part # FW16000101 would have more than enough capacity and would be an excellent choice.
I attached a review video for this winch plus an FAQ on hand winches for you to check out as well.
