Would the Frame Cradles # HR740-P Work Well for Narrow Frame Bike

Published 02/05/2015

Question:

Hey etrailer! So I upgraded my mountain bike and the frame shape doesnt fit well with the cradles on the bike rack. Theyre a bit too wide. So I was browsing the etrailer website and I think these replacement cradles would be great because theres no added width to them. Would you say these work good? Will they just slide on my current bike rack? If not let me know if you have any suggestions! I have the Swagman Hitch Rack from you guys: Any ways just let me know!! So I can make an order or whatever! Thanks!

Without knowing what Swagman bike rack you have it is hard to say for certain if the # HR740-P would work as a replacement cradle for it. However, this rack is designed to fit 1 inch diameter arms, so if you measure the diameter of the arms on your rack and they are 1 inch these would fit.

I attached a review video of the bike rack these cradles were designed to fit. If you fast forward to the 2:07 mark you will see how bikes get loaded onto these cradles.

Another option you have that might be easier than switching cradles would be to use an adapter bar like part # 64005. This will attach to the steering stem of your bike and the seat post to provide an attachment point.
