I called my contact at Superwinch about the LT2000 Electric Utility Winch, part # 1120210.
They told me that if there is power or not provided to the winch and you have a load, the winch will slowly unwind lowering the load. The freewheeling clutch is only used when there is no load on the winch and you wish to unwind the cable.
You may want to check out part # SW1130220. This is a heavier duty winch with a rated line pull of 3,000 lbs. My contact said this will hold a load in place whether the winch is connected to power or not. This comes with a 12 ft hand-held remote and 50 ft of 3/16 inch diameter cable.
