Question:

Carpod M2205. Want to buy one for my 2015 4runner. With the basket down will my tailgate be able to open? Also, not sure how quiet it would be... anything you recommend to make rattle less?

When the Carpod hitch cargo carrier # M2205 is in the folded position, the measurement from the top of the receiver hitch to the top of the Carpod is 3-1/4 inches tall. It's 5-1/4 inches tall overall measuring from the bottom of the receiver hitch to the top of the Carpod.

You will have some rattle noise but I don't think it's going to be extremely loud at all. Going over bumps, potholes etc. will cause some rattle but it's certainly very secure.

There is an option to get the Carpod cargo carrier and lockable lid which is part # M2205-2201. It will provide you 13 cubic feet of storage and the lockable lid will minimize the need for cargo nets or tie-down straps. Not to mention deterring potential theft.
