If your 2002 Ford Ranger is an XL or XLT model, I recommend are the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, part # 483-1. These feature removable drawbars which make the baseplates almost invisible when removed. If you have a Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar like part # RM-501, it will attach to the base plates with the plate on the towbar crossbar.
If you need the Quick Disconnect Kit for your StowMaster tow bar the part you need is part # RM-201.
If you have the Edge model, the base plates would be part # 477-1.
I have attached a product review video for the StowMaster you can check out.
You will need safety cables like part # RM-643. These vinyl-coated cables are coiled so they do not drag on the ground.
For lighting you can use the magnetic lights like the Optronics Tow Bar Wiring, part # TLL21RK. These will give you lights needed for towing without having to tap into the vehicle wiring.
Most states now require a supplemental brake system. I recommend the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, part # RM-9400.
I have attached some helpful articles about flat-towing you can check out.
