How to Determine if Wheel is Hub Centric or Lug Centric
Published 12/24/2014 >
Question:
I have a 1997 tent trailer. It only has a 2,000 pound axle. I need to get new tires, but I do not know if my axle is hub centric or lug centric. I have read some of your articles on this but I am still not sure which it is. The bolts in the axle are pressed in with nuts that hold the wheels on. Can you please advise further. Thanks.

Since you mention that the bolts are pressed in with nuts to hold the wheels on, it sounds like you have lug centric wheels. Lug centric wheels slide onto studs on the hub and are secured with lug nuts.
If a wheel is hub centric, the wheel centers on the hub and bolts are threaded into the hub to secure the wheel.
If you can provide me with your axle capacity, tire size, and bolt pattern I would be happy to assist you in finding a wheel that will work for you.
