Ways to Reduce Sag on 2006 Chevrolet 1500 Long Bed Towing Equipment Trailer with Pintle Hitch

Updated 12/27/2014 | Published 12/24/2014

Question:

I have a 2006 Chevy, k1500 regular cab, long bed and tow an equipment trailer with a pintle hitch. I believe there is no WD system for that, is that correct? Are helper spring or airbags then needed to help with sagging of the rear when I tow near the limit of 8000 lbs? Any other suggestions to lessen the impact from wind and sway?

In order to decrease the amount of sag that you experience on your 2006 Chevrolet 1500 when towing an equipment trailer with a pintle hitch, I recommend taking a look at the SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway-Control Kit. These helper springs install above your rear factory leaf springs to reduce sway and prevent sagging when hauling a heavy load. If your Chevy pickup is the 1500LD, you will need part # SSA8MTKT and for the 1500HD, part # SSA10MTKT.

You are correct, a weight distribution system is not designed to be used with a pintle hitch. Using helper springs or airbags would help to reduce sagging in the rear of your pickup while towing.
