Does the DeeZee Tailgate Assist Help in Lowering or Raising the Tailgate on a 2014 Ram 2500

Question:
It says it works to slow down the lowering of the tailgate. How does it affect raising the tailgate - more effort, less or the same?

The DeeZee Tailgate Assist # DZ43301 makes it so that the tailgate doesn't just drop if you were to open it and let go. It does not make lifting the tailgate any easier, just lowering it. I have linked a video showing installation for you.
