Video Transcript for Review of Derale Engine Oil Coolers - Transmission Coolers - D13009

Hello neighbors, Steven here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at the Derale Temperature Gauge Kit for your transmission or engine oil. Now folks, this electronic gauge is gonna work on either your engine oil or transmission fluid. You're gonna get the mounting bracket here for the bevel. The bevel itself, it's got all the connector points in the back and you're gonna get the brackets here to mount everything. You get the little LED light with wires, you get the connection fittings and I left all these super small screws and washing stuff in these little baggies that came with just 'cause they're so small, I don't wanna lose them.

But you get everything here you need. Now that sensor thread size is a one eighth inch NPT or national pipe thread. And the gauge diameter here is two inch diameter and I'm sorry, so two and a quarter over the the face itself. So you can see there's a little lip here on the face. So the face, two and a quarter overall, this white part, two inches overall.

And I think that's gonna wrap it up folks, just a quick look at this Derale Temperature Gauge Kit for either your transmission or engine oil. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.

I have had this product in my truck for a year now and it is working perfectly

by:

Easy install, basic instructions. The sensor is exact fit for the pressure port plug on driver side tranny body(2002 4r70w) no drilling the tranny pan

by:

Drilled the pan and installed per instructions. Seems to work good with no leaks at install area. Wiring for light is a little flimsy or I would give better rating.

by:

Haven't installed gauge or tranny cooler yet. Great customer service and fast shipping.

by:

Just what I wanted and fast shipping.

by:

Parts came in the expected time frame. Package in a way to not have damaged parts.

by:

Fast service and delivery. After finding a fuse bank to attach it was easy to install.

  • Derale Transmission Oil Pan # D14207 for a 2009 Chevrolet Express Van
According to Derale, the # D14207 will be compatible with the 4L80E transmission on your 2009 Chevrolet Express Van if you have 2-1/2 inches of clearance under your existing pan without hitting the cross member to accommodate the greater depth of the Derale pan. The Deep Pan Filter Adapter, # D14010, is only required with the Derale transmission pan cooler for Dodge applications and would not be needed with the # D14207 cooler for your van. With your pan cooler, I would recommend using...

  • Will the Derale Transmission Pan Cooler D14204 Fit a 1994 GMC Suburban K1500 With 4L60 Transmission
So long as you have 2" of space beneath your factory transmission pan then yes, the Derale Transmission Pan Cooler part # D14204 will fit your 1994 GMC Suburban K1500 with the 4L60 transmission. In regards to the transmission fluid filter, you can use the OEM style that is for your transmission but Derale does not offer transmission fluid filters. The note for using a smaller transmission fluid filter only applies to models after 1996. Please note we have a temperature sensor this pan...

  • Measuring Temperature of Transmission Fluid After Installing Aftermarket Cooler on 2011 Silverado
I spoke with my contact at Derale about the lack of change in temperature you noticed on your 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. He confirmed that the factory transmission temperature sensor is located inside the transmission, where the fluid is the hottest. He said the effects of the aftermarket transmission cooler are not typically seen with the factory sensor, since the fluid quickly heats back up once inside the transmission. My contact at Derale also said that it is common to not notice a temperature...

  • How To Install The Derale Universal Drain Plug Kit for Transmission Pan Coolers # D13010
The Derale Universal Drain Plug Kit for Transmission Pan Coolers, part # D13010, does not require any welding. It will replace your existing drain plug. It is installed on your transmission pan cooler by inserting the adapter, with the nylon washer installed, in to the hole on your transmission cooler. Then, it would be tightened down to the transmission pan with the jam nut. See the picture to the right that will show how it is installed. With the drain plug kit installed you can then...

For your situation, the best, most-effective transmission cooler I can recommend for you is the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit with Fan # D13950. You will also want to use the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM # D13035, so you do not need to flare lines for installation. When driving in the city, easy and abundant air flow to the factory or aftermarket transmission cooler is not as available as when driving on a flat, open highway. The # D13950 cooler with...

The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13502 is an excellent option for a 2021 Toyota 4Runner and it will do a great job of providing additional cooling while towing or hauling heavy loads. It can then be combined with the Derale Temperature Gauge Kit for Transmission or Engine Oil part # D13009 to provide real time temperatures levels. Please note, you will need to add a bit of extra fluid to your transmission to account for the cooler and extra lines.

  • Transmission Temperature Gauge for a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser That Doesnt Drill Into Pan
If you are getting a trans warning light on your 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser then that would be something more like low fluid or a leak and not necessarily the temperature. The Derale Temperature Gauge Kit # D13009 requires that a hole be drilled into the pan but the Derale Remote Transmission Filter Kit w/ Temperature Gauge # D13091 will help you avoid drilling into the pan since the temperature gauge installs on the remote mounting bracket. I recommend installing the Derale Universal Drain Plug Kit # D13010 on your 2012 Ram 2500 transmission oil pan where it protected from any road debris. As with any drain plug you will want it on the lowest portion of the pan away from anything that can hit the bolt and reduce the risk of it loosening on you. The Derale Temperature Gauge Kit # D13009 will allow you to monitor the temperature of the transmission fluid in the pan while you drive. I do recommend using Loctite Threadlocker...

  • Can the Factory Transmission Cooler be Bypassed on a 2005 Chevy Tahoe
If you choose to bypass the factory transmission cooler on your 2005 Chevy Tahoe then I recommend a large cooler that will fit and the most efficient design. If it were me I would go with cooler kit # D13614. It is rated ad a Class V, extra efficient, which would definitely work better than the factory cooler. Remember that you will need to plug the factory cooler inlet and outlet if you bypass it with this method. I have linked a video review of this cooler and a link to our help article...

  • Transmission Fluid Temperature Gauge and Cooler Recommendation for a 2013 Dodge Caravan
For a temperature gauge you could use to monitor the temperature of the transmission fluid in your 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan I would recommend the # D13009 for a mechanical gauge. This will require you to drill into the transmission pan to install the fitting and sending unit. I attached a picture that shows how it installs on a transmission fluid pan. If you have a transmission cooler already installed on your 2004 GMC Sierra 1500, it may be enough to handle the long journey you said you are planning on taking. My first recommendation would be to install temperature gauges for your oil and also for the transmission fluid. Then hook your trailer up and drive it to find out exactly how it is doing. The + sign on the right-hand terminal on the Derale Transmission Temperature Gauge # D13009 is for connection to an ignition-controlled 12V power source. The middle terminal connects to a chassis ground. Both connections require 18-gauge wire. The left-hand "S" terminal is for the sensor, as you noted, and its wire can be as long as needed (within reason!) to reach from the sensor to the gauge.
