Video Transcript for Feature Review Bug Screen for MaxxAir FanMate Roof Vent Covers

Hi there RV and camper owners. Today, we're going to be taking a look at MaxxFan's RV Vent Cover Screen. This bug deflector screen is designed specifically for MaxxAir's vent covers. It's designed to have the proper shape to fit on the back of it. So this way, when you've got your vent opened up and you're letting air in, you can ensure that no critters and insects are going to be coming inside to join you. It's a quick and easy installation because it just snaps in right on the backside of the vent cover.

And you can see here, it's going to add that extra layer of mesh behind the grills to keep anything out. Something like this is really useful if you like to sleep with your vents open. This is our customer's bedroom vent right here, and they like a little bit of air flow, like it cooler at night. So having something like this is going to ensure that the mosquitoes and other things aren't going to come in and join you. And you're not going to have a bad time when you wake up, you're just going to wake up refreshed with that fresh air that you're drawing in from the outside, whether you're in the mountains or down by the creeks. So now to insert your screen, it's going to sit like this.

I found that it was easier to put the screen in after you have your vent cover fully assembled. So we're going to put this back piece on. So you can see that these are elongated here and here, on each side. So we're just going to slide that up till it pokes through. And we're also going to do that on the other side, down here.

And then once you got them in there where they poke through, then just give it a twist. And with that elongated end there it's going to lock it in place. And then we're just going to push the top in until it clicks in here on the top.Now that we've got that inserted, we can go ahead and take our cover off. It's actually easier to put the screen in if you just had the whole thing off. So we're going to take the pins out of the sides, and that will allow us to lift the unit completely off of there.

We'll now take our screen. And there's three notches here. Those are going to line up at the bottom with the three clips. So just set that guy down in there. It'll line up there, and then all you need to do at that point is to push down on the tabs until they hook in on the lip right there. And now that we've got it clipped in all the way around, we can just re-install our cover over our vents. So it's just going to drop down on top. We'll line the ends up with our brackets and then slide our pins through to secure it. Put them up, to lock it in place. And once all the pins are secured, your vent cover has been installed, and you're now ready to enjoy the operation of your existing vent, without having to worry about any moisture or critters coming inside. And that completes our look at MaxxFan's, RV Vent Cover Screen.

by:

Bug screen helps keep bound out of roof vent cover.

by:

Properly constructed such that fitting the screen was easy and straight forward.

by:

for "just popping in" I spent 45 minutes trying to get the bottom clips to fit into the slot on the FanMate louvers. When I did there was no lip for them to clip in to. I got them to "stay" but Im fairly sure it will pop out.
Also note my fanmate was a bear to put together as well, I may have gotten a bad pair

by:

No matter how I struggled, this piece was about 1/4” too tall for the upper clips to snap into place. The clips on each end barely made it, but getting any of the others to clip resulted in the whole piece bowing out about 3/4” in the middle. I was so disgusted, I nearly just tossed it, but realized I owe eTrailer an honest review because they are a great retailer and I will continue to favor them as a supplier.

That sounds really frustrating. I don't blame you for wanting to throw this thing out the window. Can I ask what Maxxfan model you have? These are specific to certain models. Let me know because I can help you get it returned if need be.

by:

Screen is sufficient but the plastic locking clips are lame and do not work. Company should supply zip locks.

by:

Doesn't even come close to fitting the intended roof vent cover. approximately 3/8 to 1/2" too large. If you do get it snapped in, it's warped beyond making any bug proof seal. The screen is sloppy and sticks out out beyond the frame and looks ratty (no offense to rats)

Lori was fantastic to work with! The items were exactly what we wanted and etrailer had the most competitive price. I’m very happy that I ordered from them.

1yr later the maxxair vent covers are working perfectly!! Tks for an excellent affordable product.

by:

Be careful how you search on the website. I was searching for a filter for a new Maxxair II Fanmate roof vent cover and this filter was returned. I wrongly assumed that they fit both. The filter for the Maxxair II model turns out is wider. I contacted etrailer.com to see if I could return this one for a credit and purchase the correct one which they also carry, but was told that they do not do exchanges. At least it wasn't an expensive item. eBay and Amazon vendors in my experience are more flexible about returns.

by:

Purchased from etrailer.com in the past where I received the same very good service with an easy-to-use website. Not having been on their website for a period of time I was surprised to find all the products for RV and Motorhome campers. Their prices are competitive and the MaxxAir Vent Cover Screen that was purchased was received within a very short period of time after ordering. Obviously etrailer.com has their act together.

@RichardS I am showing that this cover only fits: Fits MA00-955001, MA00-955002, and MA00-955003, I do not see Model 755, which is probably why it doesn't fit. Do you see a longer model number on the cover?

by:

Quick delivery and well packaged. Ordered online and was easy to find on the etrailer website. Not the first time I've ordered with etrailer and always have had good experience.

by:

It doesn't snap in flush and does take a bit of manipulation to get it seated right in the vent. Now imagine yourself on top of your camper doing this. The price is right but it should have been included with the vent from the beginning!

by:

The screen is terrible quality. Right out of the package the screens were separated from the frame. There is no way for the insect screen to snap into the louvers. The locking tabs are just tabs, there is no way for it to snap in. I just wasted $34. When I ordered my MaxxAir vent covers, these screens were recommended at the bottom of the page. I would like to see a close up on the video where the guy says they snap in. Show me the snaps!

You can watch the installation at time stamp 2:19 and our installer demonstrates how to connect the screen to the vent.

by:

I like the idea of an additional bug barrier. I noticed that the top edge of the screen, when installed, is taller than the grate. This made it very difficult to install. Plus the grate does not form to the main body of the hood like it should, in my opinion.

by:

Good product, fast shipping

by:

Fast standard shipping!!!

by:

Installed ok was hard to get in was not told when I ordered it there was 2 different ones.

MaxxAir does offer two different bug screens. This screen installs behind the louvered vents on the back of the Fan Cover. The other screen is the Replacement Round Screen for Maxxair RV Roof Vents MA05-30925. This screen replaces the inner bug screen on the vent.

by:

There was several reviews about poor fit up. It was challenging to get a good fit, not that difficult though.

by:

Seem to be a great idea and are super easy to install! I only provided 4 stars because I don't know how effective they will be. Once I've had them for a while I will update the review.

by:

Easy to install, and no mosquitos got passed it on our recent trip to the coast.

by:

Worked well to keep rain out of vent

by:

Tougher to get a good fit than I thought but finally got them fitted and installed. Still a very good product that will serve me well as a fulltime RVer.
Blessings,

by:

Easy to install and stays in with no pr oblems.

by:

just fine and dandy

  • Can Bug Screen Be Installed on MaxxAir II Vent Cover That Doesn't Have One Already
The Replacement Bug Screen # MA10-20121 is for some of the older models of the MaxxAir II vent cover which had a panel on the inside that you pop out and then you can place the screen against the cover and replace the panel to keep the bug screen in place (see attached photo). If you have this panel then that's how you'll secure the bug screen. If you have a newer model without this panel then you'll either need to get creative with adding the bug screen (like using screws to carefully...

  • Bug Screen For MaxxFan MaxxAir Fan
You have a MaxxAir Fan but it would depend on your vent cover. If you have one of these # MA00-955001, # MA00-955002 or this one # MA00-955003 then you can use one of these two bug screens # MA00-955203 or # MA00-955202. The screen will go on the outside of the RV so the screen you were looking at # FVK2034-80 isn't what you're looking for.

  • What is the Difference Between the MA00-955202 and MA00-955203 Bug Screens
Technically the difference between the # MA00-955202 (black) and the # MA00-955203 (smoke) is supposed to be the color. The # MA00-955203 is a "smoke" color or gray, which is going to be a shade lighter than the black. These bug screens both fit the same roof vents, so everything about them is the same aside from the slight difference in colors-so it's really just down to aesthetics.

  • Vent Cover Recommendation for MaxxFan Plus 4500K Roof Vent Model
Hey Bob, Happy First Day of Summer! The vent cover I recommend for your MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent # MA00-04500K is the MaxxAir FanMate # MA00-955002. I also recommend picking up the Bug Screen # MA00-955203 to help keep bugs from making a home under the FanMate. This uses the EZClip system so the installation is a breeze (pun intended). If you're just needing a replacement lid for the MaxxFan Plus then part # MA10A40009K is what you're looking for.

  • Reusing Hardware From MaxxAir II Vent Covers on FanMate Vent Covers
The MaxxAir FanMate RV and Trailer Roof Vent Cover # MA00-955001 will not connect to the Installation Hardware for MaxxAir II RV and Trailer Roof Vent Cover. This is due to the covers being different sizes and therefore the mounts in the FanMate are not as long as the MaxxAir II mounts. The FanMate is designed to clip on to the MaxxAir MaxxFan's that have the quick attach mounting tabs already included on their fans produced since 2015. So if you have those vents then you can utilize...
