Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs
part number: RP30075

Fifth-wheel trailer hitch provides excellent jaw-to-king-pin contact with a 2-jaw latching system. Non-binding, round-tube slider helps to eliminate clearance concerns during slow-speed turns. Rails and installation kit sold separately.

Features:

  • 2-Jaw locking system provides more jaw-to-king-pin contact than slide-bar models
    • Less rattle
    • Greater security
  • Round-tube slider provides clearance required for your short-bed pickup to turn safely at slow speeds
    • Prevents trailer from hitting the cab of your pickup during sharp, slow-speed turns
    • Inhibits binding and provides smooth operation
  • 4-Way pivoting head eases hookup on unlevel ground
  • 3" Height adjustment
  • Wide stance offers excellent stability
  • Black powder coat finish resists corrosion
  • Locking handle has cushioned grip
  • Above-bed rails and mounting kit sold separately
    • Fits Curt, Valley, Draw-Tite, Hidden-Hitch and Reese base rails
    • Cut installation time in half by using a vehicle-specific bracket kit instead of the universal kit

Specs:

  • Gross towing weight: 16,000 lbs
  • Vertical load limit: 4,000 lbs
  • Installed hitch height (including rails): 15" - 18"
  • Travel: 11" front to back
  • 5-Year limited warranty

Note: This fifth-wheel trailer hitch will not fit pickups with beds shorter than 6'. It also will not fit trucks with flareside/stepside bed. A minimum 13" extended trailer pin box is recommended. If using a slider, hitch will not adjust to lowest height setting.

Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Round-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches
part number: RP56005-53

Heavy-duty, custom brackets dramatically reduce the amount of drilling and time required to install your fifth-wheel trailer hitch. Outboard design ensures simple access to mounting points. Brackets, 10-bolt base rails and hardware included.

Features:

  • Installation brackets mount beneath your truck bed to provide attachment points for 5th-wheel rails
  • Base rails sit in truck bed and allow installation of 5th-wheel trailer hitch
  • Fast, simple installation with outboard design
    • Extended-length base rails allow for mounting farther out from truck frame
      • Avoids underbed components for easier access
      • Cuts down installation time by more than half compared with universal kits
    • Custom brackets mount to existing holes in truck frame, minimizing drilling and measuring
  • Thoroughly tested kit is compliant with strict Society of Automotive Engineers guidelines
  • Kit includes brackets, 10-bolt rails and Grade-8 hardware
  • Compatible with Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese and Valley 5th-wheel hitches
  • Sturdy, black powder coated steel resists corrosion

Specs:

  • Base rail dimensions: 48" long x 1-7/8" tall
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Reese's outboard installation kit for your fifth-wheel trailer hitch was designed with safety and convenience in mind. Just like the original custom mounting brackets, these brackets install using existing holes in the truck frame, minimizing installation time. The biggest difference with this outboard kit is the extended-length rails. These above-bed rails are 5 inches longer than standard, universal fifth-wheel rails so that they will match up with the mounting points on the brackets, which sit below the bed and outside of your truck's frame. The result is a much simpler installation process, wherein most underbed components can be easily avoided. Because you are working outside the frame rails, you also have easier access with your tools and more room to work, making the whole process less of a pain.

The base rails included in this installation kit feature a standard 10-bolt design. Each of these rails attaches to the underbed brackets with two carriage bolts at both ends. A single bolt is used in the center of each rail to further secure it in your truck bed. The result is a set of base rails that remains firmly in place thanks to 10 points of contact.

This entire installation kit is built to be SAE J2638 compliant and has been extensively tested per specified accelerated-life-cycle criteria for fifth-wheel trailer hitches. The requirements for testing are based on the European-style test of 900,000 cycles, making this testing process among the most thorough and intensive in the industry.

Installation was good and very happy. Thank you

I did not use this item in my institution and was returned because I had the bed replaced with a flat bed and they used the factory placed holes in their insulation. Designed new attachment plates and had them fabricated in a local machine shop, attached using 3 half inch harder bolts each and all is working well.

Excellent quality products from Reese along with great service and pricing from e-trailer. I did run into some availability issues from the manufacturer with my initial order but Kelsey informed me quickly so we could modify my order. My order was shipped very promptly as promised. Thank you Kelsey for the amazing customer service!

Installation went as printed, took two of us 4 hrs. instead of 2, but I am a perfection freak, centered within 1/32" . Have not used it yet, but will be shortly. Installed to specs provided. Will purchase next hitch from etrailer, Did not call for help, but good to know they were there if needed.

by: Gerald 03/17/2021

once i finally got the bottom platform to fit it went together quite well. It is really heavy for a 74 year old to wrestle around but i have a 40 year old son to help. Have never had to slide it back to back the fifth wheel up but have not had any close quarters to deal with. I would imagine that one of these made out of aluminum would be really expensive and probably not as strong.

by: Josh S. 10/31/2016

Product is as it was described. Straight forward installation. Only problem I had was minor shipping damage. The ear of the 5th wheel plate was bent from it being dropped I would guess. Better packaging would've solved this...

This product gets a three based on shipping condition only. etrailer customer service and shipping time was excellent as usual. The shipment arrived 2 days after the order was placed, as promised. However, as others have noted, the product packing is poor. The boxes arrived with significant damage resulting in cosmetic damage to several parts. I haven't put the hitch to use yet but I am assuming it will work correctly. I will leave a followup after I use it.

Do you have a question about this Fifth Wheel Hitch?

  • Hitch Recommendations for 2014 Chevy Silverado Towing 7K Fifth Wheel Trailer
  • The lowest-rated fifth wheel hitches we offer would have a 13K capacity. When it comes to towing, having excess capacity is never, ever a bad thing. If you decide to upgrade to a heavier fifth wheel within the next few years, you'll still be in good shape as long as the loaded and ready to tow weight of the fifth wheel doesn't exceed the capacity of the hitch. The next step up would be a dual-jaw hitch. Reese offers the # RP30075, which is the lower priced fifth wheel hitch I'd recommend

  • Can Same Fifth Wheel Hitch be Used with Short and Long Bed Trucks
  • Short bed trucks typically require a slider hitch to allow for turning clearance. The shorter distance between the axle of the truck and the cab makes it hard to make a tight turn without the nose of the trailer hitting the cab of the truck. So a slider like the Reese part # RP30075 can slide back when in a parking lot to give you the clearance you need. Whereas if you have a long bed you wouldn't need a slider and a part # RP30047 would work fine. That said a slider hitch can be

  • Using Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch on 2010 F-150 with 6-1/2 Food Bed
  • We recommend using a fifth wheel hitch with a slider on any truck bed that measures between 6-1/2 and 8 feet in length. Failure to do so can result in the front of the trailer loft striking the rear of the truck cab during sharp turns and causing damage. If the fifth wheel is equipped with a Sidewinder extended pin box, a standard non-sliding hitch may be used. A Sidewinder will relocate the pivot point from the hitch-king pin connection 22 inches rearward to the point where the pin box

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2013 Ford F-150 Short Bed with Ecoboost
  • The first thing you will need is an installation kit. For a custom installation kit that will install quicker and require less drilling than universal kits, you can use Curt install kit # C16441-204 or Reese install kit # RP56006-53. The Reese kit will be easiest to install because the brackets mount to the outsides of the frame rails. For a slider hitch I would first recommend one with a round tube slider as they tend to operate smoother than the square sliders. I would highly recommend

So for a hitch with a similar price point as the Reese Hitch # RP30075 that would provide you with a much smoother towing experience I would recommend the Reese # RP30047. Slider hitches generally have more movement due to the additional moving parts which can create excess noise. The R20 hitch is a fixed hitch meaning it does

If this is the case then you can simply replace the fixed legs with the Reese Square Tube Slider # RP30048 in order to convert it to a sliding model. Please keep in mind though that while a sliding hitch will certainly provide you with more cab clearance compared to a fixed unit, typically with a 5-1/2 foot bed a pivoting pin box on the trailer is needed to allow for 90 degree turns. Being that you are right at the limit the potential for overload is great with a 16K hitch. Since the span between the fifth wheel rails is 22 inches and you have 22 inches from the back of the fuel tank to the axle you would have enough clearance.
