This product gets a three based on shipping condition only. etrailer customer service and shipping time was excellent as usual. The shipment arrived 2 days after the order was placed, as promised. However, as others have noted, the product packing is poor. The boxes arrived with significant damage resulting in cosmetic damage to several parts. I haven't put the hitch to use yet but I am assuming it will work correctly. I will leave a followup after I use it.

2006 Dodge 2500HD

I was a little leery of installing a fifth wheel hitch to begin with, but after watching the videos from etrailer a few times and reading the instructions a couple of times, I decided I could do it. I installed the RP50064-58 kit for fifth wheel hitches and the Reese 30083 Fifth Wheel 20K w/Round Slider Unit on my 2006 GMC 2500HD short-bed. I had my three grandsons, ages 2, 3, and 7, helping me. The installation went really smooth (other than the younger children occasionally running off with tools) and I am very impressed by how sturdy it is. Now I am looking forward to receiving the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate with Open Design that I ordered. Thank you etrailer! You make it fun and easy!

Ha ha ha Michael I can relate to that have a 3 and a 7 years old and every time I work on something they are there to help the 3 year old more like wants to do it himself . Planing on installing a 5th myself and was thinking they could be of help steping on the bolts top side so I can put the nuts to the bolts, looks kinda hard. Good luck with your venture . The hitch arrived nicely packed in two boxes. Very easy to assemble and install on my existing bed rails. I took the RV out for a first run with the hitch, and it performed as advertised. It was a no fuss transaction and the hitch arrived on-time!

I damage my old hitch on Wednesday and ordered this one and it came very fast had it in on Saturday afternoon and was able to make my east bound trip.
As always etrailer came through for me again. Thank You

received but thankfully all was there box was ripped apart that had the supports and bolts and short brackets.

by: Tom09/30/2020

I like the pin being surrounded by the jaws instead of just a bar across the back of the pin. The 16K seems to hold the pin tighter and helping to reduce chucking while towing. I had a slider due to when I bought this last 5th wheel, it was kind of forced onto me saying they couldn't let me leave without a slider with a short bed truck. But after I got home, I ordered a Reece Sidewinder, of which I had one on our first 5th wheel back in 2007. This is my third sidewinder and wouldn't pull without one. The Reece 16K hooks up good and towing without the worry of turning to sharp when getting fuel are days gone by, thanks to these 2 combined together.
The first Reece 16k I received had something just not right and I was having a heck of a time trying to hitch up. Sent Nicole here at eTrailer a picture of the jaws a little misaligned. Nicole got back with me quickly and we had a short conversation, and just a few days later I received a replacement head. That's service!!

by: Bob08/09/2021

The first hitch arrived damaged in shipping. The dent was minor but it was on the receiver plate so I asked to return it.

A lot of vendors would have pushed back on an 89 pound box being sent back but the etrailer team set up the return and shipment of the new hitch. No problem.

The new hitch arrived in good shape this afternoon. It took me about a half hour to install with normal tools and a torque wrench. Directions were clear, the parts fit, and I appreciate having the knowledgeable people at etrailer to fall back on.

There are a lot of things owners can fix themselves with the support of quality products, knowledge, and great customer service etrailer delivers.

by: Joe H.03/31/2019

Delivery was fast and packaged well.
This
is my first 5th wheel hitch and has worked great for me pulling a shorter camper with a long bed 3/4 ton truck. Nice height adjustability to match the truck with the trailer. Good solid feel while pulling.

by: Kyle L.10/17/2012
2006 GMC Sierra

I was a bit nervous at first installing the rails that would eventually hold the weight of a 16,000lb camper, however after reading the instructions and looking at the quality of the parts, I felt alot more comfortable. The installation was very easy, and with the large side plates, I feel alot better knowing the rails and hitch are secured to the frame with more than those small pieces of L steel that normally come with the kit. Install only took me about an hour and the hitch is very solid!

by: Ralph07/08/2020

Product is good quality as it appeared --5th wheel itself was not delivered with rest of kit--arrived three days later. Installation easy.
Installation kit fits perfect-easy installation. Only variable was I had pre-existing air springs , so I had to mark and drill the frame brackets and install the air springs on the outside of the brackets--no big deal--worked out fine

I have a 2006 2500HD with an existing gooseneck hitch that is welded in place between the frame. I had thought the "custom-fit 5th wheel" brackets would still fit so I ordered them so as to not have to drill in the truck frame. Unfortunately, the gooseneck channel is in the way of where the "U" bolt needed to go on the back side of the frame so I have to return this and get the "universal" install kit / rails. It will still be fine but I was trying to not drill in the frame any more than necessary.

I just wanted to pass this along incase anyone else had the same setup. It will save you some time, frustration, and shipping money :-). It was my fault (not etrailer's) .

I attached a picture showing where the bracket is with the gooseneck channel behind it (in the way). Hope it helps someone else.

I spent a whole day installing the Reese 16k hitch and custom quick mounting rails in a 2020 F150. Video was great and I advise you to watch it a couple of times before installing. Paper instructions not so good. If you have a 36 gallon fuel tank, I recommend you to do this install on a lift. I do not recommend you to install on your garage floor especially if you are 67 years old, still sore from laying on my back. You must remove spare tire and heat shield. I installed with tires on and very tight working around large fuel tank area. Going on a test drive to see if everything holds together.

by: Marcus03/31/2022

Because it was a new model truck, finding the right hitch became a challenge. etrailer was very helpful in sorting it out. 4,000 miles later we are happy campers

Not as easy as the online videos would lead you to believe. However I did manage to get it installed. Getting the spacers nuts and lock washers on the bolts over the gas tank on my 2014 Silverado were a real SOB. Dropped 3 lock washer into the shroud over the gas tank while trying to accomplish this. Ended up taping the nut and lock washer to my wrench to get them in position while someone turned the bolt from inside the truck bed.

Looks like this is going to be a perfect fit for what I need to pull my 2011 Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8265WS, 5th wheel trailer with the Revolution pin box. Just had it installed & after many years of driving truck with a 5th wheel, I can tell this is a good sturdy 5th wheel & looks good too.

by: Skip11/11/2021

Poorly packaged at the warehouse which caused a box failure enroute to my house. I REALLY needed this for the weekend and will now have to either borrow a truck with a hitch or find a kit locally. Customer service blamed UPS. I disagree. Had the box been secured properly from etrailer to begin with, I wouldn’t be writing this review. I will not order anything heavy from them again.

by: Gary 03/05/2023

Excellent hitch for pulling my 5th wheel. Unhooks a lot easier than my last hitch. My last hitch would bind up and pin would not release at jaws. I would have to move truck up or back to get it just right for it would release. I’m not having that issue with this hitch. Major plus for me!! E trailer is good to work with. It was back ordered a few weeks but overall happy with the hitch.

by: Nancy04/19/2023

Legs were not as heavy and our original 15k. Difficulty getting one of the legs into the original rails. Slight difference in center to center. Release does work much smoother than our old hitch As for etrailer, the hitch arrived in three days, No shipping charge. Great service.

by: Terry07/24/2023

The hitch had several large scratches on the front leg decals and a lot of smaller scratches and dings on the painted surfaces. This was caused by inadequate packing materials. The parts should be packaged so they are not allowed to touch and rub against each other during transit. One of the mounting pins did not have a machined groove for the locking clip. I had to use an old pin I had from the hitch I replaced. I would like to get a replacement pin that has a groove for the locking pin as the one I'm using is 20+ years old. I had to drill out the hole for the cotter pin that attaches the handle. The pin would not go through until I drilled it out. On the flip side the hitch is what I expected it to be and seems to be well built and should do what I need it to do. I gave you 3 stars due to the packaging issues and the pin with no groove.

by: Adam04/09/2021

Nice hitch, relatively easy to assemble & install, took about 1 1/2 hours. Will be trying it out this weekend.

by: Stan04/21/2024

Everything is good
Hardware bag broke

Couple #8nuts where missing
Everything go to go

by: Troy 07/20/2021

The hitch was installed on Valley Rails which was previously installed on my 2004 Silverado 3500. The hitch fit on the rails and during the first pull performed outstanding. I pull a 41ft 5th wheel and I am impressed with the double jaw lock.

Very fast shipping for the 5th wheel sliding hitch, rails and wiring ! Installation was very straight forward although the instructions were a bit vague. Watched the installation videos a couple of times which was a big help. Took about 4 hours for everything including wiring. Could have been quicker if I took off the rear wheels and lowered the exhaust but just worked around them. Picked up my new 5th wheel a week later and was very happy with the hitch - No problems at all. This was installed on a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD.

Still very happy after thousands of miles !

by: Roger T.03/03/2016

After getting the rear rail installed, I used the hitch to set the front rail. I worked perfectly. I can remove the hitch without any binding. This was a problem with my old hitch on my old truck that was installed by the service department where I bought my original 5th wheel trailer.
This is basically the same hitch as I had before on my old truck and I had no problems with it after towing approximately 37,000 miles over 15 years so I expect that this hitch will give me the same service.

The Curt A16 slider part number # C16521 with the custom install kit part # C16420-204 would be a great choice. Not too heavy and a solid choice for a hitch with a custom install rail kit.
