This kayak rack offers the ultimate in carrying performance. With its 4 boat capacity and proven universal mounting system, The Stacker is the most efficient way to carry multiple whitewater kayaks. We needed a better way to haul around 3 kayaks and after looking at a number of options, we settled on the Thule Stacker setup. Installation is simple and the stackers provide a sturdy option for hauling multiple kayaks. One of the best features is that they fold down when you don't need to use them.
My shopping experience with etrailer was smooth and shipping was prompt.
My wife uses these to carry two small kayaks in the roof of her Subaru. They work great and we very happy with the purchase. She also likes finding her car easier in the parking lots, even with the carriers folded down.
Looked everywhere to find a kayak rack that would fit on an existing 08 Xterra with a manufacturer storage rack and crossbar support. etrailer site had what I needed. They had a "blog" describing that this would work, with extension bolts (which they also supply). Received the system within 4 days, installed it in about 15 - 20 minutes on the manufacturer rack. Holds up great, first trip we traveled about 250 miles round trip with two kayaks on top (about 80 lbs total), in 20 - 30 mph winds. No problems at all. I am extremely happy with this system. I do use a few rubber cabinet liners cut and placed on the crossbars to help the kayaks from sliding (this is also very helpful). I have read a few reports of the boats coming lose, but have not had any issues. I have enclosed a few pictures to show how they install as well as how boats were secured.
Basically easy to use but roof racks are always a bit awkward to put on and tighten. Was able to transport 3 10ft kayaks on a 2011 and 2017 Subaru Outback with factory racks. My only issue is the clipping ratchet tie downs that come with the rack, the clip is small and often gets caught on the nylon handles on the kayaks. The Grove is sharp and can get tricky to unhook. I personally traded them out for the simple open hook on the racket.
This carrier allowed me to easily carry 4 kayaks, it was easy to install and even easier to use. The etrailer team was also very easy to work with, following up a few days after rack arrived to ensure I was able to install and see if I had questions. They also provided the same support and follow up on the trailer hitch that I purchased before too.
These were easy to install and use. I do recommend this carrier for multiple kayaks transport.
This is an easy to use rooftop system. I don’t regret my purchase and would recommend it to others looking for a simple to use system.
This is a well built system. This was laced onto a 2011 Toyota Highlander with factory rails. It is difficult to tell when the hardware is “tight enough” since the attachment clamps bend and conform to the shape of the rails. Since the Thule Stacker is deigned to hold up to four kayaks, there is no cradle to hold kayaks in place(expect some slipping when driving). To mitigate the slipping as well as piece of mind when tightening down the clamps, I purchased some neoprene rubber sheets to place under the kayaks as well as under the clamps to improve grip on the rails.
I would not buy this item again. Very hard to hold 3 kayaks on top of my SUV using this item.
Love this stacker rack! Wanted to get something that can carry 1-6 boats, and it works perfectly! Folds down nicely on the roof to fit in the garage when not in use. Carries up to 4 boats on my Chrysler Town & Country; up to 6 on the bars of my buddy's pop-up camper roof (extra straps are required for more than 2 boats). Durable, as are pretty much all Thule products. Would highly recommend!
They Work Well, but Depending upon your position of the roof racks you may get wind whistle if you don't have the kayaks up there, otherwise with the kayaks it was great easy to use and mount on my Rhino Rack, wish they had a front wind cover that would mount and prevent wind Whistle.
They definitely worked well with 2 kayaks up there, I will be trying with 3 in July.
The Stacker worked perfectly! We needed to haul 2 kayaks, and when we began to suspect that my 2014 CR-V cross rails weren't wide enough for the Thule J-Style carriers I kept looking. Well, The Stacker was the perfect solution.
Mounted in the center of the rails, to accommodate two Kayaks. Watching the video provided on etrailer page was very helpful, as we have never tried to use anything like this before.
These brackets are so very sturdy, and with kayaks attached, were so stable. The straps provided were sturdy too, and easy to use.
Being able to use these two brackets, instead of having to buy two sets of J-style hooks was a huge money saver.
Thanks to etrailer.com I was able to figure all of this out, using descriptions, reviews, videos and Q&A's available as I was trying to work out a solution. Thank you etrailer.
Fast delivery perfect set up for my kayaks. Very happy with purchase
great product well documented installation instructions. Durable and kayaks are secure. Only negative is the roof rack clamp created a leak in driver side window that I have made a few adjustments but a slight leak continues.
Received the rack on time as promised. Unfortunately UPS smashed the box and repacked it. eTrailer responded immediately and sent a replacement. The rack fit my 2011 Santa Fe perfectly and worked as advertised.
I highly recommend eTrailer for their products and customer service.
This company has great with customer service. I’ve bought a few things from them now. They seem like a very hands on company. I bought a thule roof rack and thule kayak stacker from them and the products were best price and as advertised. I will keep doing business with them
Great product. Explanation of what we needed before we bought the product was excellent! Have loaded 4 kayaks easily for a couple trips. Very happy we purchased this instead of a trailer. Easy to take on and off and light to use on both vehicles allowing us to carry on kayak trip so we do not leave kayaks while retrieving other vehicle.
The picture shows the stacker in the down position. Very easy to install and raise to tie the kayaks to the two upright Stackers. After you remove the kayaks, simple to loosen a knob and lay the stackers flat so that you don't hear any wind noise when you are driving. Or you can just remove them until the next time you go kayaking. This allows us to carry two of our plastic river kayaks. If we buy another set of the Stackers, we can carry a total of 4 river kayaks.
Installed on 2015 Subaru Outback...holds 2 kayaks safely and securely. Easy to use once you get the hang of positioning the kayaks where you want them and using the straps.
Excellent item arrived as promised. Nice sturdy and compact design looks like it will handle everything that I can throw at it. Looking forward to putting this to good use just like my other Thule products. Etrailer.com is my first go to for a great shopping experience.
These are easy to install and fit the car without issues and look great. I purchased these to use with a Thule kayak rack and they fit perfect.
These TH830 hold the kayaks side up for less wind resistance. Easy to tie to but I do carry a step ladder to reach center on top of jeep
Great racks. Perfect for my kayaks.
Kayak rack works great with 2 kayaks.. Easy to install.
Would have given 5 stars but one of the bow/stern ropes was frayed a bit in the middle of the rope. Came from the factory that way as the plastic bag it was in was completely in tact.

This post-style mount carries 2 kayaks on edge, securing to your roof-rack crossbars and folding flat when not in use. Reinforced steel construction and padding on the post protect your boat, and included straps secure boats safely to the rack.

This post-style mount carries 2 kayaks on edge, securing to your roof-rack crossbars and folding flat when not in use. Reinforced steel construction and padding on the post protect your boat, and included straps secure boats safely to the rack.I acquired a second kayak and needed a system to fit the factory racks on my 2011 Toyota RAV4. Etrailer.com has always had information on what fits and has always had the item needed for the job. I attached the Yakima BigStack to the top with ease, and, with one other person to hold the kayaks while I secured, tied two of them down for a long road trip to Northern Minnesota. The system worked just fine. The only caveat was in the configuration of multiple boats in the instructions. The diagram has two boats on the same side of the posts, however, I found it more secure to put one on either side ( other reviews of this product on different Internet sites have found similar results.) The boats made it through the trip with no shifting.
Where do I start?
I've been whitewater kayaking for 22 or so years now. I've always used used either Yakima or Thule products...
Until I bought a 2015 Nissan Rogue with a naked roof. The curvature of the roof and large door jams mean that Yakima and Thule can't make racks for them. I went to a place that does custom installs and again because of the curvature of the roof, they couldn't give me a rack. This meant no kayaking which is really bad news.
Enter the Rhino rack system. I purchased the feet, the fit kit, the cross bars and a Yakima "big stack" stacker. The first issue I had is the reccomended size for the Nissan Rogue is only 48 inches. Way too small too haul 4-5 (very light) whitewater kayaks. I called etrailer and they were SUPER helpful, told me I can buy the 65 in cross bars and they'll work fine.
I held my breath and placed my order. I was nervous leaving my trusted name brands. The order arrived super fast (they told me it would arrive by Friday but it actually arrived on Thursday) and everything was packaged rock solid. I was impressed.
I read the instructions and put the rack system on my car. It took about a hour (it was hot and I worked slowly) but the rack system is SUPER SOLID. I love it. Rhino might have a "forever" customer out of me.
-The rack system is very stable. I can't move it with my hands by pushing or pulling.
-The rubber stripping you put on the top and bottom of the bar is an awesome added feature AND it reduces wind noise.
-Adding the fairing reduced wind noise even further. With four boats on the roof you couldn't hear any extra noise.
The ONE thing I dislike is that you need to use the supplied Allen wrench to take the rack on and off the car. It's a small complaint, but other systems I've used in the past don't have them.
I paid much less for this system than I would have if I purchased one of the aforementioned systems, but I'm really really satisfied with the product. We will see how well it holds up over long-term use, but it looks awesome!
Strap Failure After First UsePut two kayak on my roof (tandem and single about 12' long to transport 400 miles. The sticks are easy to install, however out of the box one strap kept slipping and another frayed almost completely. Thank good I had secured the load with my own strapping since I did not trust the Yakama straps. Also, you need a buddy to load with you since the kayaks want to slide away from the sticks.
Difficult for one person to load kayaks on roof. You need more than two hands. Used it once - will now buy used racks, one for each kayak.
Worked great on our Subaru Crosstrek with factory crossbars. Loading very easy, and it was very secure, for our 2 kayaks. The Yakima Big Sticks are easy to install/setup and take off. Very happy with our investment,
Good product. Always am a little nervous that they will slip on the rack but they never have. (This is b/c we mixed Yakima on this one with different manufacturer for the rack and Yakima is built to be multipurpose so not perfect fit.) That said, nothing but success so far.
I have had the exact opposite experience. The straps are all solid and strong and the kayaks are rock solid on there. They even included little rubber tubes for padding for the front and aft tie-downs. In addition to many local trips, I drove 8 hours each way to Michigan last summer and the rack was perfect.
Eh, a lot left to be desired. I wish i had bought two J hooks instead. This works but the J hooks would be a lot easier and I feel like i would be more comfortable on the highway with the J hooks
The product quality can speak for itself, but i was extremely satisfied with the turn around time. i received my package in plenty of time for a planned camping trip. Also your customer service was top notch. i got a phone call checking my address for shipping and thought it was really great that someone was actually handling my order with care and it wasn't just me and a computer. So thanks alot. I'll for sure be using this service in the future
Excellent support system for the kayak. Easy to install.
Great product. We had no problem loading and moving two kayaks. I would buy this product again!
Super helpful Customer Service staff.
Great product.
Delivered very quickly.
Great experience all around.
Product shipped and arrived very quickly and everything claimed online was true about this carrier.
