24x60 Reese Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs
I recently received my new cargo carrier. Some of the reviews indicated that the install instructions was hard to follow and hard to put together. I found the instructions straight forward and only 11 connections had to be made to have the unit ready to use. Very easy to install. Looking forward in using my carrier in the next few weeks. Will be using behind a 2012 GMC Terrain. The ordering process was easy and the delivery very quick. Will use etrailer again in my future purchases

17x46 Curt Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs
This is an updated review now that I have had the chance to use my carrier a few times. I'm keeping the rating the same because the issues I've had have been because of the way I use it and not because of the quality of the product. Be aware that if you are using this carrier on a lower profile vehicle you will be more or less confined to flat pavement, including any kind of raised driveway or parking lot entrance. I even had it scrape over a speed bump under load. May not be a big deal in some parts of the country but I live in the mountains and there is a lot of up and down terrain to scrape on. If that could be an issue for you as it was for me then do yourself a favor and spend a little more for a carrier with a raised shank. I nearly broke the thing off the first time I used it just pulling into raised parking lot from the road. I was fortunate that I was just testing it out completely unloaded so the back of the vehicle wasn’t squatted down from the weight that would normally be on it. I ended up fixing it myself by chopping main support up and welding in some extra square tube pieces to raise the basket 3 inches. Fixed the problem, but I wish I had realized just how far down it hung. Again, not the problem of the carrier, but my specific setup and location. Just something to think about before buying.
I've been using this Cargo Carrier on my 4 Runner Venture for about a year now. I Purchased this item to haul extra gear to Nags Head from Northwestern Virginia. Installation was a breeze and it's very, very sturdy. I had two Yeti coolers packed with ice and drinks and there was no wobbling at all. I'm a 197 pounds and I was standing on it after I installed it just to check for durability and this thing is a beast. I also used this as a rod holder while on the beach and I caught a 6 foot black tip shark. Overall, I'm very pleased with this item and I would recommend to a friend.

We just installed our carrier. We love that this is going to free up a lot of space for our vacation traveling. Very heavy duty and bigger than i was thinking it would be.The pin that holds the carrier in the hitch was not included. It would have been an added bonus if it was.

23x59 Stromberg Carlson Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs
Carrier and box will be moved to hitch on 209 Solitude Rv to provide extra cargo carrying ability
A good size and very strong. I like the fact that it has a grated bottom, as opposed to a few bars like many of its competitors. There are many holes and notches present for any customization desired. Also makes for a great chair to relax. I also ordered the anti-rattle pin so as to fasten this tightly to the hitch. IMO that should be included with any of these trailer-hitch-Mount accessories.

32x48 Reese Solo Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - 400 lbs
Rating = Excellent (*). The overall, good, bad & other. Overall : solid and performs as advertised. I put my Ariens 30" snow blower on the Carrier while it was attached to my F250. Same for my Earthquake Shredder / chipper and a Husquavrna Walk Behind 20" weed wacker. Used two of these at a recent job. All items fit and work on this carrier. You might have to make you own mods IMHO for your specific needs. The key to this I discovered is securing whatever you are hauling. I have a variety of items. Each item is different. Some are top heavy (chipper) and others not at all. (BAD#1) So I added my own attachment points to the FLOOR of the ramp. Items won't tip or fall if you have the axle pinned down. Those attachments were found at the hardware store for a few dollars. The holes in the frame of the Carrier designed to secure equipment are good but since the holes are on the outer frame it's difficult to really hold the item steady / ie: pin down the axles. Especially so if on bumpy terrain. I used a combination of bungee cords and ratchet type tie downs. (BAD #2) I noticed when I put the snow blower on the carrier for the first time that the screened floor of the carrier and ramp gave way slightly. You can see that the webbing of the carrier is not the thickest steel. I think with some weathering & use that the screened floor(s) will prematurely break where the most weight is laying. I added plywood to the ramp and some PT 2x6 where the tires will be on the floor. Very Solid now. HOWEVER, it weighs more too as a result. Even without the added weight, (Not Good vs bad) It's difficult to man handle on/off the vehicle. I added one of those wooden rolling furniture dolleys to move it in my barn where I store it. If you plan to just leave the Carrier on your vehicle this is not an issue. If like me you want it on for whatever task and remove it, you will want some type of roller to move it wherever effortlessly. (BAD #4) The ramp locking device is so cheap, mine is already bent and unreliable and I used mine outside of testing at home only once. I added a bungee cord to the top of the ramp to the floor of the carrier when folded up so it doesn't dislodge while driving. Good: glad I got this. Does exactly what I needed. You will have to entertain making your own specific modifications for what you will haul. Also in the good was it was an excellent step up to the bed of the pickup to grab the wood in it. That makes it a lot easier to off load or entering the truck bed being higher up. The tail gate will not lower with the ramp in the up position. Other: one of the accessories is a stabilizer designed to limit the wiggle while in transport. I jammed a couple of wood shims in there and it accomplished the same thing. Necky sure but it works. I also have plans for it to be used at some of my competitive shooting events. I'll move supplies with it on the range and use it as a table for signing in to the events. It makes a good chair and table while out on the job / event too. Add your own worn out cushions from home. I'll add pics of it later. :)
I received the package in a pretty rough exterior condition but everything was fine inside. The previous comments about having to cut away the expanded metal flooring in order to install the carriage bolts wasn't true in my case. Apparently, this quality control issue has been addressed by the manufacturer. Assembly went well and wasn't complicated. A different carriage bolt with a longer square shoulder should be used. The shoulder doesn't grip too well to the square cutout in the frame and even while pressing firmly on the head of the bolt, it wanted to turn as I was tightening the nut. All in all, it seems to be a solid product and I look forward to using it.

19x47 Curt Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Steel - 300 lbs
This cargo carrier worked great. Used it to move a rototiller, 2 hour trip. No damage or deformation to the carrier despite the tiller being near the top of the weight limit. The hitch bolt held the carrier firmly in place. It doesn't come with the lights, I installed light kit Item # 52014. Just had to drill four small holes (I knew this light kit wasn't specifically designed for this carrier, just wanted something cheap). Works great on a Town Car, lots of ground clearance. I'm very happy with this product.
This cargo carrier is sturdy and works well on a Mazdaspeed 3. The rise and slight angle make it so clearance is not an issue. The carrier is very easy to put together. I did install the 8 bolts through the connecting plates in reverse of the instructions so cargo would not be scratched or torn. It adds so much cargo space for our growing family. The only drawbacks are a lack of license plate frame and reflectors which are easily added with very little cost. I used a Cruiser license mount plate with zip ties and Reese DOT approved reflectors. I don't plan to use the carrier at night but there are many license plate lights that can be added as well. I also purchased the Rola carrier bag for hauling luggage and other indoor items.

Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier for 2" Hitches - With Ramp - 77" Long - 500 lbs
I can't say I'm entirely happy with my purchase. The instructions were more confusing than helpful. Note in "instruction.jpg" photo of STEP 1 that the text says to put the 8 small bolts in from the inside first, but the drawing clearly shows them as going in from the outside. The last step says to place the ramp onto the receiver as shown.... glad I didn't throw away the box because there is no drawing that shows ramp installation. Actually, the photo on the box was more helpful than any of the instructions. Also, I need to make a trip to the hardware store to buy longer medium bolts because the ones that came with the carrier were not long enough to fully engage the self locking feature of the nylon lock nuts. At a minimum a couple of threads should protrude beyond the nylon. See photo "nut.jpg". The bolt threads don't reach the end of the nylon, so the self locking feature is not fully engaged. I did tighten the nut, but that was as far as it would go. I think once I get back from the hardware store with the new medium bolts and after I reverse the 8 small bolts (I followed the drawing and not the text of the instructions), I'll be OK with the carrier.
"Instantly Get Rid of Wobble and Upgrade With Lights" This is not a 5 because ramp should be longer & there should be some type stabilizer to temporary hold bike while strapping down, I'd pay more for those upgrades. The wobble can instantly be solved by hooking Tie-Straps closest to vehicle directly to the receiver where you hook your chains, rather than hooking them to the provided holes on carrier itself. You of course use the provided strap holes ones on the opposite side. When strapped down as stated, the carrier now becomes one with the vehicle & @ 80mph there is no wobble. (*TIP: Put ramp back in its place before strapping down or else it won't fit with the strap hooks in the way.) I upgraded mine with lights for both safety reasons & not needing the Police any reason to pull me over. It was very simple and cost me nothing but time & maybe $50. I recommend this product whole heartedly.

24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - Tilting - Folding - 500 lbs
Easy to assemble, looks like good quality
Super disappointed in this etrailer purchase. The product came in a large box that was fully intact and not damaged. The actual cargo basket was meticulously wrapped and appeared to be brand new as expected. The other components however, like the arm, were in boxes that were smashed, old, worn, and had multiple layers of old tape. The arm itself was scratched and banged up, even rusty in spots. Clearly it was used or had been a returned item. If I wanted a dented, gouged, and rusty Cargo Carrier I would have purchased one used, for half the price. This is not the quality I expect from etrailer.. I have purchased many racks and other items from this company and usually the quality is outstanding. This time they dropped the ball. I have since read other reviews and it is apparent that this is not an isolated incident. I'd have sent it back if it wasn't so damn heavy and awkward to lug around.
etrailer Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2018 GMC Terrain
Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2018 GMC Terrain, we're going to be taking a look at the etrailer.com aluminum cargo carrier. By using this cargo carrier, it's really going to help free up some space on the inside of your Terrain, or you can even use it to carry more cargo. And that's really useful. I find that a lot of our Terrain customers, it's more of a family-oriented vehicle, so that space is precious inside. With the cargo carrier, you can lug everything back here and free it all up.
What our customers are saying:
"Received the package today, Thank you for the fast service. It is an early Christmas present for my son in law. They like to tail gate at the football games and this should come in real handy for hauling their equipment."
