While I have a much easier trailer wiring solution than the # 40455 that you referenced for your 2006 Mazda Tribute there is a good chance you'd have to have a relay installed behind the dash board of your vehicle to have the circuits active for this kit to work. Since most of our customers have come back and stated that finding the relay was a headache the much better option is to go with a harness that installs by plugging inline with the taillight circuits of the vehicle.
For that I... view full answer...
It is possible for a taillight converter module to go bad. If your circuit testing shows correct signal inputs to each input pin of the module, but no output from the module, then the module could be blown.
Please refer to the trailer wiring troubleshooting guide attached. This page offers information about the likely causes for a failed module and how to isolate the problem.
Any one of a number of issues can cause failure of a module. If the module suddenly stopped working and there... view full answer...
Hey Sam! Great questions!
The fastest one to tackle would be your question about if part # DG52720PB comes in chrome, it does not. I looked at lights that were similar in size but came out empty handed on the chrome option.
Now on to the part about looking for a light that is 10" x 4". I don't have anything that is exactly that but I have some that are close to it.
Part # STL68RP5B is 10-1/8" x 3-1/16"
- You can use stainless steel trim ring part # A68SSB
Part # STL68RB is 10-1/8"... view full answer...
I do have a few solutions to wire your 2000 Viking with 6-way Square to your 2001 Mazda Tribute 4-Way flat.
The first option would be to cut off the 6-way connector on your Viking Popup Camper, and wire in a 4-way connector by function. You will want to use Hopkins Endurance 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector - Trailer End - Ergonomic Design. part # HM48110. To wire, you will want to wire the labeled color wire on part # HM48110 to the matching wires on your trailer.
Another option would be... view full answer...
From customers we've learned that the fuse slot number 1 is the one associated with activating the factory trailer wiring circuits of your 2005 Mazda Tribute when installing wiring like # 40455. view full answer...
If your 2008 Mazda Tribute did not come with the factory tow package then adding the relays would not activate the # 118251 wiring harness. You would need to replace it with # 118551. The ways each of these install is fundamentally different so there isn't a way to transform a 118251 into a 118551. The 118551 harness plugs in line with the vehicle tail lights. I have linked a video showing how it installs. view full answer...
A rooftop tent may be possible for your 2005 Mazda Tribute, but it will need to have raised side rails to install a roof rack and not the factory roof rack. So if raised side rails is what you were referring to by "original racks" then you will be able to install a rooftop tent, the Yakima SkyRise HD Tent for Roof Rack Crossbars - 3 Person # Y07437 or 2 Person # Y07436.
What you would need is a roof rack that attaches to those raised rails and has a 165 lb capacity, which we do offer with... view full answer...

For your 2005 Mazda Tribute I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118426. This harness will plug into your Mazda Tribute's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights just like the Ford Escape video attached.
Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal... view full answer...
Since only one function is not working it doesn't sound like it is the converter box. Although there could be a problem with the connectors, there should be no real loss of conductivity over time. It is possible that the # C56329 needs to be replaced, but there are a few things you can check first before going that route.
The first thing I would do is double check the connectors. If the connector is not fully seated and came apart over time it could explain why it went out intermittently... view full answer...
The proper mounting hardware can be ordered for the Draw-Tite Class II Trailer Hitch, item # 36501, by using item # RHK, replacement hardware kit, in the search box and then entering the hitch item number and the hitch manufacturer in the boxes below the item description. I have also posted instructions for installation of this hitch below. view full answer...
The license plate lights should not have anything to do with your fuse blowing or your stop lights. Most likely there is a short blowing your fuse. If you don't locate and repair the short, you will continue to blow up fuses. You'll need to start at the connector and examine it for damage. Then work your way all the way back to the Rola LED Light Kit, checking for pinched wires, loose connections or cracked and worn wire insulation. Fix the short and you should be good to go. view full answer...
I hope I can clarify any confusion for you on the T-One wiring harness installation. When installing the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118343, on your 2001 Mazda Tribute the step 3 in the installation instructions is on the passenger side of the vehicle.
On the passenger side you will connect the T-One wiring harness to two points. The top connector (black) is for the running lights and brake signal which is where the T-One connector with the red and brown wire will connect. The middle... view full answer...
Any of the class III receivers offered for your 2005 Tribute, including the Curt model you reference, are compatible with a full-sized spare tire. The curved shape of the hitch fits around and below the spare tire, and will not interfere.
I have provided a link to an install video for you to check out. The video shows a hitch from a different manufacturer being installed, but the hitch is similar enough to the one you referenced to give you a good idea of the placement. At the end of... view full answer...

It sounds like there could be one of two possible problems. First, it could be a ground issue. A weak ground can cause all sorts of issues. Make sure the ground for the converter is attached to a clean and corrosion free bare metal surface. If it already is, try moving the ground to a different location.
You will also want to check the trailer side connector and wiring. If there is corrosion build up on the trailer connector that could cause problems. Make sure to check the main ground... view full answer...
I would first go to the connector behind the paneling in the cargo area on the driver side, into which you plugged the wiring harness.
Then, I would use a circuit tester on the factory connector to determine whether or not you are getting power on each of the four prongs. To do this, have a friend in the front of the vehicle flip the turn signals and press the brake pedal for you while you test each prong for power.
If you find that you do not get a power reading on all four prongs,... view full answer...
The Thule Passage trunk mount bike rack # TH910XT is indeed a fit for your daughter's 2011 Mazda Tribute. Whether or not it is the best choice depends on what you are looking for in a trunk mount bike rack. I can tell you that the Passage is a solid performer that has not required any major changes over the years.
The Passage uses 6 straps to attach to the rear of the vehicle. The first time you perform the installation takes the longest but each subsequent time will be easier since you... view full answer...
