Features to know about

Switch Between Trailers with Ease: 7-Way to 4-Flat or 5-Flat Adapter

Towing different trailers doesn’t have to mean swapping out your wiring setup. This TowSmart adapter lets you connect a trailer with a 4-flat or 5-flat plug to a tow vehicle that has a 7-way RV-style socket. It’s a simple plug-in design that gets you connected fast so you can hit the road with lights that work right every time.

No Cutting or Splicing Required: Plug-In Connection

You don’t need to rewire your vehicle or trailer to make this work. The adapter plugs straight into your existing 7-way outlet, creating an instant connection for running lights, turn signals, and brake lights. Just plug it in and you’re ready to tow.

Built for Flexibility: Works with 4-Flat and 5-Flat Plugs

Whether your trailer uses a standard 4-flat plug or a 5-flat with an extra reverse or auxiliary wire, this adapter handles both. It’s a handy solution when you tow more than one type of trailer or share equipment across vehicles.

Compact and Reliable: Durable Plug-Only Design

The sturdy plug-only design keeps things simple and reliable. There are no dangling wires or extra parts to worry about, just a solid connection every time you hook up your trailer. This makes it easy to store in your glove box or tool bag when not in use.

Video Transcript for Review of TowSmart Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - 7 Way To 4 Flat Or 5 Way Flat Adapter - TS98RR

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this TowSmart seven way RV style to four flat or five way flat trailer connector adapter. Now, let's say you're ready to hit the road, but you find out that your trailer's four pole or five way flat plug doesn't match your vehicle's seven way blade socket. So instead of rewiring all that, all you're gonna have to do is simply plug this into your seven way and then you're going to get that four or five way and you'll be able to get on moving down the road. So this is obviously gonna be a plug and play design, no wiring needed. This is gonna connect directly to your vehicle socket.

Durable construction, it's impact and corrosion resistant housing's gonna withstand harsh weather and it has an ergonomic grip, so it's gonna be very easy to install and remove this without any tools. So this is going to connect your tail, brake, turn and reverse lights without any issue whatsoever. It's compact, it's portable. This small size is gonna make it easy to store inside of your glove box or toolkit. Speaking of size, why don't I put this up against the ruler here, give you some measurements here.

So it looks like the overall, let's call it length, about 3-3/4" long at the widest point, I'm gonna say 2-7/8", it looks like. And if you're wondered about the thickness, bring that in there a little bit more, maybe a little over two inches thick, depending on if it's where this is gonna be positioned. Lemme do it this way. Yeah, a little over two inches, maybe like two and a quarter or something like that. I just wanted to give you a good idea of the size and just show you how compact this was.

So this is gonna be a really easy solution if you're looking to turn your seven way into a a four or five way. If you happen to have any other additional questions, don't hesitate to give us a call. We do wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. But I think it's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you.

Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.

  • What Do I Need to Add a 7-Way and Tow a Trailer With Brakes on a 2014 Kia Sportage?
Hello John, Thanks for writing in! It all depends on whether your trailer has brakes. Either way, you'll start with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56251. This gives your 2014 Kia Sportage the 4-way flat that controls the trailer's turn signals, brake lights, and running lights. If your trailer does not have brakes and you just need the 7-way for your lights and 12V power, you will want the TowSmart 7-Way RV Style to 4-Flat or 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector Adapter # TS98RR....

  • What Adapter do I Need to Go From a 7 Blade to a 4 Flat on My 2016 Toyota Tacoma?
Hello William, Great question, and you’re absolutely thinking about this the right way wanting to make sure everything plays nicely before plugging in. The good news is that since your Tacoma already has a factory-style 7-way, you do not need a separate PWM-to-12V converter. The truck’s 7-way is already designed to output trailer-ready lighting signals, so you are not going to risk confusing the vehicle electronics or damaging anything by using it. For your setup, a simple 7-way to 4-way...
