ARC 3116A Eco 1156 LED Bulb Dimensions

Raw Lumens vs. Effective Lumens vs Stable Lumens

Lumens are used to measure the amount of usable light that is put out by a light source. Raw lumens represent the number of lumens that the manufacturer claims the LEDs are capable of producing. It does not include the light's drive method or the amount of light lost from the lens or reflector. Effective lumens take these factors into account and represent the number of lumens that are actually produced by the complete light assembly, not just the amount of light that the diodes are capable of producing. Stable lumens builds off the idea of effective lumens by measuring the amount of light produced after 30 minutes of usage, or once the diodes have reached their average operating temperature. These bulbs have a 600 raw lumen capacity per bulb and produce 411 effective lumens per bulb. The stable lumen capacity per bulb is 173 lumens.

Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the 1156 LED Turn Signal Bulbs

Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a look at the 1156 LED bulbs. These are going to be a great replacement for your existing bulbs, maybe for your tail lights or your turn signals. So these are an amber style bulb. So typically that's going to be for your turn signals. So let's take a closer look at them and make sure that they're going to be the right fit for you. They do fit into a 15 millimeter socket.

You can see that's the bayonet style, so you just push it in and then turn it a little bit. So it's kind of that push screw motion and should be a pretty easy install for you. I'm going to hook these up to power or one of these up to power. So you can actually see what it looks like when it's illuminated. They are reverse polarity protected.

So you shouldn't have to worry about that.So it's going to be a little tricky for me to show you this, just because it's going to want to move around. And it's just kind of creating that contact between these little nubs here, but once I get it going, here we go. So now you can see how bright that light is. I'm going to turn the light out in my studio so you can get a better idea of how bright it is in the dark. So bear with me while I get that illuminated again, I'm going to just put a finger on it, so it'll hopefully stay.

So there we go. Here we go. So a nice bright amber light. It is going to be an LED light. So it should last you a long time.

And again, the reason for it kind of coming off and on like that is just because of the way that I have to hook it up in my studio here.It is a durable aluminum construction, and it is IP67 rated. That basically means that it's impervious to dust and water shouldn't have any issues with any water getting in there, causing any shorts or damage to our lights. They are going to be an eco series. So it's very similar to your OEM bulbs. So there shouldn't be any fitment issue, or clearance issues. They're nice and compact. We're going to have 23 diodes on each bulb. The output for these guys for the raw lumen output is 600 lumens per bulb. And then the effective lumens is 411. Once it's been on for about 30 minutes, that does drop down to 173 lumens. Typically you're never going to really have this on for a straight 30 minutes, unless maybe you have your hazards on for an extended period of time. So really the number to look at is that effective lumen output, which is still plenty bright. The color temperature is going to be that 1600 Kelvin, which has that amber light, the wattage per bulb is 6.5 watts. The power draw at 12 volts is 0.65 amps. The voltage goes between nine and 16 volts, DC. They are covered by a limited two year warranty, and that's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the 1156 style LED bulbs. I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if there's one's for you again, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

Excellent rain guards, happy so far with LED lights

The brightness between tail light mode and brake light mode is not enough to be a very good LED replacement.

Fit into the old Peterson PM 306-25A socket perfectly, replacing a 2057 incandescent bulb that was there previously (both of the light fixture's dual filaments are wired together to act in tandem, and only as a turn signal - go figure - but perhaps to be marginally brighter together). LED bulb is much brighter, and I'll assume lower current draw (did not actually measure this). "Garage test" worked fine, we'll know how they take to moisture and vibration in a few months. It should be noted that despite LED bulbs's reputation for being "directional", this bulb lit up rearward AND to the side satisfactorily. Cannot comment if the difference in brightness between the two "filaments" offers sufficient differentiation between low and high setting in actual use, as mine light up simultaneously, as wired.

The led lights are still working. The problematic fuse in the car has not blown so switching from incandescent to led has been worth the cost.

I bought these to upgrade my rear tailights/turnsignals to LED. They are a direct replacement meaning they fit into the socket properly. However, there isn't enough load in these bulbs to have the turn signals work properly. Apparently, another electrical part must be needed for these bulbs to flash properly as turn signals. Keeping the bulbs since it's not cost effective to return.
