Instructor Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we take a look at this UWS 69 inch long, slim line, low profile, narrow crossover truck bed toolbox. Has a nice gloss black diamond tread finish to it. Now, this is a crossover saddle style toolbox. It's designed to hang from your truck bed rails, behind your cab. And this one is designed for truck beds with extremely limited space in front of the wheel wells.
We say it's a low profile design, and by that we mean it is built lower on the bed rail for a better view out your rear window. Basically, when this is installed the top of the box will sit about two inches above the truck bed rails. This is made of a 0.058 inch extra thick one piece aluminum construction. This box will hold heavy tools in cargo and that aluminum construction has fully weld it seams, which will guarantee not to rust. We mentioned the finish is a nice gloss black powder coat diamond tread finish.
Does have the stainless steel lock handles on both sides. You can see one over here and one over there, and that's for security and corrosion resistant operation. If you notice on the driver's side right here, it does have a lock on it and it includes the two keys. So basically if you can turn this to lock it, but basically, when you go to open it you just pull the handle. You can see the lid will open and it doesn't matter, you can just pull one of the handles.
You don't have to use both. So on either side you can reach out and pull the handle and it'll open up. And then to close it all you have to do, pull down on it and then push it in place and it'll stay closed. And we mentioned it has the lock. So to lock it, you just turn it a quarter of a turn, take the key out and that'll prevent the latch from opening on both sides and that keeps anybody from opening it.
And then when you go to unlock it, just put your key in, turn it back a quarter of a turn, and that'll unlock the lid and be able to open it. If you notice the handles, they are widespread as we've mentioned. It's very easy to reach from either side of the truck. Now, I did wanna zoom in to show you on the inside. But basically, if we turn this and you look on the inside they do have a connecting rod that'll connect that handle all the way over to this handle. And that allows for nice convenient operation like we showed you from either side, the driver's or the passenger side. And what's also nice, they have this nice enclosure that'll cover that connecting rod. So if you happen to be hauling something on the inside of your toolbox, keeps that from hitting up against that rod and might damage it, prevent it from opening. So this way with this enclosure around it it'll prevent that from hitting the connecting rod. If you notice it does include the sliding tray that you can put small parts or tools in. And to install this, it's a very easy installation on each end. They have a slot cut and you can use the J hooks that are included. The J bolts here. And that'll hook it to your truck bed rails. They do even give you two pads that you'll put one on each side under there to protect your truck bed rails from any damage from the toolbox. And then you go to install it with the pads in there. Out is a nice bevel lid. Just wanted to zoom out, and go back and close it. And when we say a bevel lid, what we're saying there's no sharp edges as you can see. They bevel off all the edges here. Does use a patented foam filled lid, provides insulation protection from the elements, and it is a structural foam. So it does reinforce the shape and strength of the lid. On the inside again, we open it back up. You notice there's a nice foam seal right here. This foam seal will help protect the contents from the elements. This gas cylinders, there's one on each side. These heavy duty gas cylinders will help as you notice to lift the lid and it'll hold it in the open position. And then the. They have a piano hinge, it runs the full length of the lid. And that'll give you extra support of that lid. Wanna give you a few measurements on this. We're gonna measure the overall dimensions and then we'll measure the inside dimensions. So the overall dimensions, if we go from that end all the way to this end. 69 inches width wise the box is 12 inches. And then the height from the very bottom to the very top has about nine and a quarter inches. Now, if we do close that lid that'll add about a half an inch all the way around to those measurements. The interior dimension. Now, the interior dimension, this will be over your bed rails. So we'll be measuring from the inside to inside. So if we go this way, it's gonna be right at 58 and three quarter inches long Width of 10 and a half inches wide and a total depth of about eight and three quarter inches deep. Now, it will give you the interior capacity of about 3.5 cubic feet of usable space. But again, we'll go ahead and close this. But that should do it for the review on this UWS 69 inch long slim line, low profile, narrow crossover truck bed toolbox and the gloss black diamond tread finish..

Awesome “tool” box. Yes, small enough to clear out my back seat area. And some jumper cables, and some camping gear, and miscellaneous items. It arrived well packaged. It took me about 10-15 minutes to install - heck, it took me just as long to unpack it. Not damaged. My truck is a short bed and I need as much space as necessary - camping stuff or a mountain bike or a kayak or two, you know, the usual “weekend warrior” stuff.

2020 Ford F-150
Awesome UWS toolbox and excellent service from etrailer.com. The toolbox fits my F150 perfectly, and I had to install new Back Rack mounts. The toolbox is large enough to hold all the hitches, compression straps, tow straps, jumper cables, and bungee nets that were piled high behind our seats. It arrived in perfect condition, and it locks easily. It also opens with only one handle. The toolbox is the perfect size so I still have access to the area underneath for plastic tubs, or the front end of kayaks. Score a really great one for etrailer.com and UWS.

The UWS toolbox is a great tool. It is secure, water tight, and still holds all the equipment that used to occupy the cab. I get loads of compliments from guys looking into my truck bed. The room under the toolbox is still the best place for large bags of tools andor crates of other stuff. We love this toolbox.

2012 Chevrolet Silverado
Waited 3 weeks for tool box and payed $40 for special handling by UPS. Tool box was poorly packed in plain cardboard box and had two significant dents in it. etrailer offered for me to ship the box back for credit or give me a $60 refund for damage. I guess that means they are waiving the $40 for 'special handling' and taking a $20 hit themselves - wow. I kept the box and pounded out dents with rubber hammer best I could.
Not too satisfying...Beware

Incredibly well packaged. Look at UWS website for vid. Of how meticulous they are. Watch other videos for installation. Matter of minutes. Very well constructed. Only gripe I have is e trailer video showing measurements shows 12in.front to back (depth). In reality 4 in.up from the bottom, around the entire box sets in one inch thus leaving only 10 inches of space,not 12 for the bottom 4 inchesofthebox. Cohld havebeenamoreaccuratemeasurement. I cannotseethe lid from my rear view mirror which I like. About a foot of space under the box for cargo. A definite plus in a short bed. Best on line price was from e trailer. Arrived in 6 days direct from manufacturer. Very pleased overall, no more stuff on the floor of my cab.

This Slim Line Series - 6.3 cu ft works very good with the side boxes on both sides of the truck. Have access to open from standing on the side of the pickup truck with the side boxes installed. Makes a nice combination for a pickup truck Installed on a 2022 F-150 6'5" bed.

I have a short box Ram 2500. I also pull a 5th wheel camper. A regular sized box would interfere with the hitch. This box works perfectly. It is not super heavy duty, but a good value for the price.

This tool box was a little tricky to install. I had a professional mechanic help me. It is now properly installed and looks great on my truck. I was so happy to discover that a slimline toolbox was indeed available. My crew cab Tacoma only as has a five-foot bed. A larger tool box would have left me with only about 3.5 feet of bed. This slimline box allowed me to retain four feet of bed, which fits my needs. Very fine box. Good workmanship. I am very pleased with it and would recommend it to others who need a slimline design.

It definitely fits the truck better. The only thing I don't like are the hydraulics - they are WAAAY too stiff - it takes a herculean effort to close the lid.

Box is has been good and fits the needs I had. The the slim box, leaves more bad for short beds. It did show up with a small ding when delivered, but it was on the back side so I didn’t worry about it.
