The SeaSucker Falcon is quick and easy to mount. To install the rack make sure the mounting surface is clean and place the rack on your roof, trunk, or window glass then press the pump several times until the orange band disappears. To break the seal and remove the rack from your vehicle simply pull the T-shaped tab up and towards the center of the cup. As suction decreases over time the plunger will extend from the cup. When the orange indicator band shows simply repump the plunger.

Video Transcript for SeaSucker Falcon Truck Bed Bike Rack Review - 2018 Nissan Frontier

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Nissan Frontier, we're going to be test fitting the SeaSucker Falcon Truck Bed Bike Rack, part number: 298-BF1002.The Falcon is a great bike rack for your truck. It's very easy to install and uses vacuum-style suction cups to go to the back window of your vehicle. It doesn't require any additional hardware to install, and it doesn't require you to drill in the truck bed of your truck. This includes a nine millimeter, quick-release skewer and, sold separately, has adapters for 15 millimeter and 20 millimeter through-axle skewers as well. This carries up to one bike and has a 45-pound weight capacity. There are also locking mechanisms that you can use to secure the sheer window that are also sold on etrailer.com. One thing to note with the plungers here, there is a lubricant that it does come with, should these become difficult to push up and down. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the SeaSucker, let's go ahead and show you how it installs.

We have everything set in front of us that it takes to install it onto our truck. Let's go over some of the pieces.Heres our actual skewer mount, this will go on the top two-padded plate here, like so. We'll take out two screws. They just push through. Can be a little tough, but just push them on down, like so.

Then, underneath, we'll have our flat washer and nut that'll thread into place. Do this on both sides. With them loosely installed, we'll take our included Allen tool and wrench to hold that in place while we tighten it down. We'll repeat this for the other side. Now with everything tightened down, we'll take our two suction cup end and actually take it up to the back window of our truck. We will not be using this portion.

We're now in the bed of our truck and we have to decide where exactly we want to mount it. We're going to take it to a passenger side here so it doesn't impede the view behind the driver. We'll remove our suction cup covers. At this point, you want to take a spray bottle and spray a little bit of water on the inside of the suction cups and then we'll stick it into place. Also, clean the surface of the area where we're going to be placing this. When placing this on our window, we're going to place it as evenly as we can on either side. Then we'll come underneath to our plungers here, and you're just going to keep on pressing until this orange strip here is completely gone.

Like you see there. We'll repeat this on the other side. Now it's secured to our window, and we're ready to load up our bike. We'll bring out bike in. Open up our skewer. Set our forks inside. Then we'll tighten down one side. Alright, now it's secure and we're ready to hit the road.To remove these, it's very easy. You come to these tabs and just lift up and it pops right off. There you have it for the SeaSucker Falcon Truck Bed Bike Rack on our 2018 Nissan Frontier.

I've used a pair of the SeaSuckers to hold electric bikes in the bed of my truck while we tow our RV. From TN to the Keys and out to CO and UT. Never a slip or a problem. For me, a great solution to carrying heavy e-bikes in an otherwise crowded bed. The rear window glass does not seem affected at all. Not the cheapest solution, but .... Comes with replacement suction pads and hardware. Very high quality materials.

Awesome hitch! Fills up easily and nicely. Easy to operate and not terribly heavy to handle if you need to store it.

Having used the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain tow bar for over a year to tow a Kia Soul with our class A coach, I have nothing but good things to say about it.
The tow bar is extremely easy to attach to the towed vehicle. Get close and the arms will connect, pull ahead and the arms lock into tow position. The cable management tubes on the side of the arms keep all electrical and safety cables organized and tangle free.
The tow bar quickly folds and stores on the rear of the coach when not in use.
Fit, finish, and construction is excellent. Instructions for set-up, use and maintenance are clear and complete.
The reviews and videos provided by e trailer certainly helped with the decision to go with this particular tow bar, along with their great selection, price, and delivery.
Thanks e trailer!

This tow bar is very easy to install due to its non-binding feature which allows for easy toad hook-up even when the ground is a little uneven. I also like the fact that it can stay attached to the motorhome and simply swing out of the way when not needed. As with all products I have purchased from etrailer, this Roadmaster tow bar is well engineered and of excellent quality.

by:

We have towed our Jeep almost 2,000 miles since installing the recommended parts from etrailer and it has worked perfectly on every connect and disconnect along the way. Tows beautifully, even at 70 mph.

Excellent customer service and helpful videos from these folks. Would recommend to anyone needing help with parts and guidance in towing their toad to give them a call.

This towbar has been very disappointing. When it was time for a new towbar, I decided to downgrade from the Sterling to this Falcon, and that was a big mistake. This towbar cannot be described as "non-binding". Unless your tow vehicle is perfectly aligned with the motorhome and level, there is no chance of releasing the latches - they bind and will not release. If I get stuck in a stopped position where the car is misaligned from the coach by more than about 10 degrees, or higher or lower than the hitch by more than a few inches, I have a major project to release the towbar from the car, even sometimes having to use a punch and hammer to forcibly remove the hitch pins. Further, after just a few months of use, one of the release mechanisms quit working altogether, so I my partner has to start the car and jiggle back and forth in order to find a spot where I can remove the hitch pins. Once the towbar is unhooked, I have to use a screwdriver to dig around under the failed release lever in order to push the cam in manually so I can push the outer arm back in.
The guides along the arms for the cables are not useful and dangerous. I initially used straight power and safety cables running through the guides, and they go chewed up in a short period of time. I had to buy new coiled cables that do not run through the guides, and have had no further problem.
As a towbar, this device works fine. But it is NOT non-binding, and I highly recommend upgrading to one of the higher-end towbars. This device is too problematic to recommend, and I would never buy it again.

Overall the tow bar is pretty good. I had no issues towing the 2005 Acura MDX (~4500LB. After driving in the rain the the moving rod become a little sticky. With some cleaning and WD40 it is behaving normal. I don't really feel there is any toad unless I see through the rear view camera. So far no issues. I probably had about 5k miles on this tow bar by now.

Installing on 2020 Jeep Trailhawk :

Pic #0557 : Roadmaster Base Plate Kit , Demco Supplemental Braking System , Diode Wiring Kit , Demco Battery Charge Wire Kit

Pic # 0548 ,0551 , 0559 Had to adjust the bracket plate to line up with the upper bolt holes

Pic #6028 finished install , mounted the operating unit to the top fuse box cover using automotive Velcro . Air cylinder , controller and LED light installed . Aside from the base plate bracket not lining up with the upper bolt holes I would give it 4 stars . My son in law is a master at solving mechanical issues .

Very happy with my Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain tow bar, baseplate and high low hitch. Great service from etrailer, great company! Going on my first trip in a couple weeks! Took about 4 or 5 hours to install. Great instructions, the videos were very helpful!

I was looking into to flat towing our Jeep Cherokee behind our RV. A friend had told me about etrailer. I have to say they do, and did have everything that I needed to make this project happen. The pricing, quality, quickness, and the shape of everything from shipping, was Great!
Here is a picture after I got it was all hooked up.

Thanks again etrailer

This item is great, saved our Jeep. Had the hitch on with the Jeep and got rear ended. The hitch absorbed most of the hit and the Jeep was relatively unscathed. The hitch was bent like a pretzel but it still held together the Rv and the Jeep. The bar was bent beyond saving so I called Etrailer and they sent me a new one within two days so our vacation was not ruined.
Thanks all and definitely recommend this hitch!!

Really like this all terrain tow bar. Pulling a 2018 Ford F150 with it. Cross bar is not needed with my base plates. Would be better if bar could be purchased without it. Seems like a big heavy piece to pay for when it isn't needed.

by:

This was bought replace a Falcon 2 because of the non-binding feature. I was looking forward to using the wiring and cable channels but there doesn't seem to be a way to get the hooks or plugs through. So instead of having something useful, I just have something that adds weight.

by:

I was a solo older female traveler, towing a Jeep. This towing system was so easy to use. Easy to set up on my Jeep, and to hook up and unhook from my motorhome.

by:

Thanks to all at etrailer who helped me with my order, you guys are fantastic, the entire operation is stellar.

Enclosed are a couple of pics of my installation after my initial hookup.

by:

Love the quick and easy hook up and dis connect!

by:

Excellent tow bar, has held up very well over the last year. Very minor rust, generally surface rust from when we're close to the coast. The non-binding feature has come in handy almost every other time we've used it. Folds up well behind the RV when not in use.

by:

Awesome product made in the USA. Etrailer made sure that everything was correct and fit my vehicle

by:

Don't buy a roadmaster tow bar. Roadmaster does not honor their lifetime warranty. Used one time and it bent and refused to replace it. had excellent service and experience with etailer and would use them again.

by:

This was part of many Roadmaster components I ordered from etrailer.com to set up my 2014 Honda CRV as a toad. Etrailer's website is excellent and their review videos and installation videos are very helpful. Their tech service department is excellent as well.

I researched tow bars thoroughly before choosing the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain. Both Roadmaster and Blue Ox have excellent customer service departments and answered many questions before I decided to go with Roadmaster. The reason is simply my preference to have the extra stability of the cross bar and for future mounting of the Guardian rock shield. The Blue Ox tow bars are simpler because of no crossbar and that is nice and clean. But I like extra assurance and beefiness on the lateral torsion forces when towing. Just my preference.

The Falcon unit is well made and heavy. The channels on the sides allow a neat installation of the wiring harness and safety cables. Pulls my Honda CRV with no noise and easy to hook and unhook. I would recommend this product to anyone.

by:

Super Fast Service....Excellent Products....Consistent 5 star service over the last 10 years!! Look forward to using our Roadmaster Falcon Tow Bar, Front Base Plate and Draw Tite Rear Receiver. Happy Travels!!

by:

Great towbar, easy to hook up to towed vehicle, unhooking is a snap.you dont have to be perfect to hook up to your tow vehicle.well made.

by:

This "Non-Binding" tow bar BINDS UP every time I use it.
I have to keep a hammer handy to to get it to release.
I have tried everything I can think of and I still have to hammer out the pins to unhook it.
i would never buy one of these again.

by:

I towed a car behind the RV from New England to California and back with no issues! Easy to hook up the tow vehicle.

  • Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for 2016 Volkswagen Jetta
SeaSucker does offer the Komodo part # 298-BK1910-BK which is a fit for your 2016 Volkswagen Jetta but the Falcon is only for truck bed. The SeaSucker is an amazing rack but, I realize that's quite a large price difference so you might instead like the Thule OutWay # TH45JV. The OutWay which is an extremely high quality bike rack that fits your vehicle and costs less than the SeaSucker. If you plan on carrying any women's or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may...
