Speaker: Today we're going to review Part No. BWHDRH25401. This is the BMW Heavy Duty 2 Inch Class 5 Trailer Hitch Receiver. This is a custom fit design. It is designed to fit the Ford F-250 and F-350 Trucks with the factory bumper starting in 2011. I would recommend to go to the product page for this part number at the bottom of the page it would list the year and model vehicle with this hitch would fit on. This is a custom fit trailer hitch which will let you tow a trailer with your vehicle. It is a built on installation, there is no welding required.

For this demonstration we've bolted the end wings on to the cross numbers so it's basically an interlocking three-piece design. It does use Grade 8 mounting hardware and the installation instructions are included. Has a high gloss black powder coat finish to help resist corrosion. As you can see right here the safety chain loops they're built-in to this heavy duty steel gusset right around the hitch receiver opening. It is a sturdy steel construction. It does come also with this electrical bracket.

This electrical bracket you can take your factory 7-way that's on your vehicle and attach it to this. Then this bracket there's a bracket right here with two holes in it and then the two holes here. You just line it up and screw it in and that will bring your 7-way electrical connector right out by your hitch opening. If you are going to tow with this, it does require a ball mount and a pin and clip, we do sell those separately. They do not come with this hitch. The parts are usually listed on this product page as a related product.

This part is made in the USA. It has a receiver opening of 2inch by 2 inch. It is a Class 5 Rating. This has a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 16,000 lbs. when used for regular towing or even used with weight distribution.

I replaced the OEM hitch solely to afford a greater "margin for error" due to a higher capacity rating. Good instructions and easyinstall.

2012FordF-350 Super Duty

Made in the USA. The attaching hardware is questionable at best. Replaced an existing hitch on an F-350. Original hitch was held on by 3/4" diameter fasteners with all metal locking nuts. Hardware included with new hitch was 3/8" diameter with plain nuts and locking washers. With the hardware were hokey square washers intended to make up for the hardware being half the diameter as original. Locking washers of course split when torquing fasteners. Not happy about B&W trying to save a buck on cheaper hardware. Ended up reusing the factory hardware as it fit the new hitch and the truck frame perfectly. Don't plan on rushing through this install. Hitch itself appears to be very nice quality and fit was excellent. Was able to retain the original spare tire position as well. Trailer plug mounting bracket comes with self tapping screws of questionable quality. Used 3/16" fasteners with locking nuts instead. If B&W would of spent an extra $[XX] on appropriate hardware it would be a 5 star review.

Perfect replacement for the OEM 6000 lb weight carrying hitch on my 2016 F250SD Super Crew. The trailer connector bracket was a perfect fit for the OE 7 way RV and 4 flat combination receptacle. It even had holes and slots for most wiring holders. The only thing it didn’t have was pre-drilled holes for the trailer sway control counterweight on the drivers side, at least I believe that’s what it is. Highly recommended otherwise, as BW was the only brand I found with the trailer receptacle bracket for the OE connector. I’ll feel safer now hauling my 7000 lb trailer and tractor. It took a couple of hours to finish, only due to the OE hitch had blue Loctite the entire length of all 8 frame bolts… breaker bar time!

Great! No issues at all. The counterweight I previously mentioned was actually a harmonic dampener device that was installed as part of a Ford TSB, but made no difference at all when removed.

    One big advantage to having the bolts of the B and W Hitch part # BWHDRH25401 hold the wings to the crosstube instead of welds is that it can ship easier and would not have the likelihood of it getting bent like the welded hitches sometimes do. Aside from some extra assembly there really isn't' any downside. It can also make lining up the bolt holes with the vehicle easier as sometimes they aren't quite perfect on all vehicles.
