When you close the RetraxPRO XR, your gear stays out of sight and safe. The 1" thick aluminum slats can handle up to 500 lbs of evenly distributed weight and stand up to harsh weather and impacts. The pop-up locking handle secures anywhere along the rails, so you can lock the cover tight or partially open to fit longer cargo. With weather stripping and foam seals on all sides, plus an overlap along the tailgate, rain, snow, and dust stay out of the bed.

Instead of dealing with straps, snaps, or Velcro, this cover slides open and closed on sealed ball-bearing rollers. It glides evenly without binding or needing lubrication. When retracted, it rolls into a compact canister that shields the cover from dirt and debris. The spiral track system inside keeps the panels from rubbing against each other, cutting down on wear and keeping operation smooth for years.

You can secure the cover at any point along the rails using the locking handle. That means you can cover gear in the front of the bed while leaving room for taller items or oversized loads at the rear. The design works independently of the tailgate, so you can open or close either one without affecting the other. It’s a handy setup for anyone who needs quick access and secure storage at the same time.

The built-in T-slot channels on the side rails let you install crossbars or racks (sold separately) for bikes, kayaks, or ladders. It’s compatible with T-slot systems from Thule, Yakima, Rhino-Rack, and others. Because the rails mount 1" above the bed, you keep a clean, low-profile look while gaining the flexibility to carry gear above the cover without losing bed access.

Made from industrial-strength aluminum with a scratch-resistant matte black finish, the RetraxPRO XR stands up to sun, snow, and debris without fading or cracking. The canister’s angled bottom saves bed space, and built-in drain tubes route out any water that gets inside. Installation is simple—just clamp the rails onto your bed without drilling and connect the pre-assembled canister. The whole setup weighs about 120 lbs and is built for long-term use with minimal upkeep.

Thanks for taking the time for such a detailed review RAMDaddy! I would say you definitely got your moneys worth on your last one with the 10 years of use! And valid points on the new cover, it does stink that the canister takes up so much room, but it is still a really nice cover. I hope you get 10 years plus out of this new one =)

Had this on my truck for over a year, outside in the elements every day and it still looks brand new. The finish is tough and durable. It rolls open and closed with ease and the locking mechanism is free and smooth. Couldnt be happier with it.
