V-Bar Icebreakers

V-Bar Icebreakers

The V-shaped studs (also known as icebreakers, spikes, or cleats) that are built into these twist-link tire chains bite into ice, providing superior grip for a safer ride on ice-covered roads.

Installation

1. Drape the chain over both tires of your dual-tire setup, making sure that the center chain is between the tires and that the V-bars are facing out. (You can also lay the chain out and then drive onto it.)

2. Drive forward about 1/4 of a tire revolution.

3. Fasten the ends of the chain together.

4. Drive forward a bit and tighten the chain as needed by moving the hook to the next link.

You can use rubber or chain adjusters (sold separately) to increase the tension on the chains for a tighter fit.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Dually Tire Chain Recommendation for Tire Size 245/75-17
We have dually tire chain setups for your tire size of 245/75-17 like the Titan Twist Link set part # TC4231 which will work really well, but since cable setups are more designed for emergency use they aren't typically used on heavier duty vehicles like duallys. They don't typically last very long so I wouldn't recommend that route for yours with a cab over camper. The twist link setup I mentioned is a great choice if you want a smoother ride quality and the V-bars part # TC4831 are great...

  • Install Video for Glacier Tire Cables on Chevy Silverado 3500
I attached an install video that shows how the Glacier Tire Cables part # PW2028C install on a similar 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 as yours for you to check out. Tire cables like this are a perfect solution for what you described. They'll get you through DOT, in an emergency will work, and are lower priced.

  • Can Tire Chains be Used on a 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500 with Dual 235/80-17 Wheels
According to the owner's manual for your 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500, traction devices such as tire chains are not designed to be used on models with dual rear wheels. With that being said, we certainly understand certain states require the use of tire chains. The Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains part # TC4831 are not confirmed to fit 235/80-17 tires. If you choose to use a set of tire chains, the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains part # TC4821CAM with cam tighteners or part # TC4821 without cam...

  • Tire Chains for Dually 245/75-17 Tires on a 2011 Ford Super Duty
We have several options for dually tires, size 245/75-17: # TC4831CAM # TC4231CAM # TC4831 # TC4231 For any of these chains I also recommend rubber adjusters, # TCMA2. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for specific information on the use of tire chains. I have included a link to our help article on tire chains for you.

  • Tire Chains for 245/75R17 Single Tires and Dually Tires
The Titan tire chains, # TC2828, are a fit for your 245/75R17 tires on the front of your truck. And Titan chains # TC4831 are a fit for the dually rear tires, 245/75R17 at the back. So these chains you have chosen are correct. And they are both V-bar construction so they will match up. Rubber adjusters are recommended, # TCMA2, sold in pairs, to ensure a secure fit. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for more specific information on the use of tire chains on your truck. I have...

  • Recommended Chains for 245/75r17 Front Tires on 2012 Ford F-250 SuperDuty
For your 245/75/r17 front tires I recommend using the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains w/ Cams - Ladder Pattern - V-Bar Link - 1 Pair # TC2828CAM, which are the same ladder pattern with V-bar links as the # TC4831 you were looking at for the dual rear wheels. The # TC2828CAM come with cam style tighteners to make connection easier to get a tight, secure fit. I do recommend checking your owner's manual for any directions on using chains on your front axle, as there may be a recommendation...

I have included a link to all of the available chains that will fit your tire size. If you are looking for something that can be used on or off-road there are several options in this size. • Tire Snow Chains for 2015 Chevrolet 3500 with Dual Rear Wheels
From my research your truck came from the factory with either 235/80-17 or 265/70-18 sized tires. According to an online owner's manual I found if you have 265/70-18 sized tires you will have minimal clearance for tire chains. You should check your owner's manual to verify. If you have the 265/70-18 sized tires and can use chains I suggest the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains for Dual Tires # TC4831. They're confirmed to fit your tire size. You also may want the rubber adjusters # TCMA2. If...

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 255/85R16 Dually Tires on a 2001 Ford F-350
If you plan on driving mostly snow-covered highways with chains on the 255/85R16 dually tires for your 2001 Ford F-350 then I recommend the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains for Dual Tires # TC4231 because they have a twist link style that will be a little more comfortable on the harder surface. The only other option is the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains # TC4831 which have V-Bar Links that are a little better for off-road purposes and/or ice as they provide some additional grip with the studded...
