These chains are the perfect solution for cars with limited wheel-well clearance because they are designed to ride solely on your vehicle's tire tread. Chains automatically tighten and align as you drive so you don't have to recheck tension.

Features:

  • Provides excellent traction in snow and ice
    • Square links dig in and provide good grip - small size makes for a less bumpy ride
    • Diamond pattern offers constant traction and a smoother ride than ladder patterns
    • Traction plates bust ice apart
  • Made for passenger vehicles with limited wheel-well clearance
    • Meets SAE Class S standards
    • Creates zero interference behind the wheel
  • Automatically tightens around tire as you drive - no need to stop and tension
    • Securely attaches to wheel lug nut for installation
    • Maintains grip on tire thanks to strong materials and geometric design
  • Removes quickly with external release system
    • Sturdy arms can be folded for compact storage
  • Offers protection for wheel rims - chains sit on tire treads only, leaving wheels untouched
  • Includes nylon storage bag and 3 lug nut adapters (17 mm, 19 mm, and 21-22 mm)

Specs:

  • Application: 14" - 18" tires (for exact sizes, see below)
  • Lug nut/bolt size: 19 mm and 21 to 22 mm
  • Quantity: 2 tire chains
  • Internal clearance required: 0 mm
  • 5-Year warranty

Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

If you're looking for a way to get traction in the snow without scratching your rims, these K-Summit chains are your best option. The chain only sits on the tire tread and is fastened to one of the lug nuts on your wheel with an easy-to-use fixing key. There are no attachments behind the wheel like typical tire chains, which ensures that there is no interference with any suspension or braking components on the inside of the wheel well. You won't have to stop and readjust these chains either - they self-tension, self-center, and conform to the tire perfectly as you drive, providing a precise fit even on worn tires. These chains are ideal for use in light snow and ice.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you wont be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Tire Chains

Because these chains are customizable, the first fitting could take a little time but after that, it's simple. The included instructions will let you know if you need to adjust the chains based on your tire size.

Remove lug cover if present

1. To begin installation, you'll need access to your wheel's lug nuts. If you have a plate covering your lug nuts, pop it off using either the included Allen key or a flathead screwdriver.

Determine size of lug nuts

2. Determine which lug nut adapter you'll need to fit over the nut on your wheel. Attach that adapter to the included fixing key. The most commonly used adapters are included.

Lay chains over tire thread

3. Fit the chain over your wheel, getting it as far onto the tire as possible.

Tighten lug nut adapter

4. Using the fixing key, thread the included bolt into the adapter. The other end of the fixing key will attach to the K-Summit base, which includes the ratcheting mechanism that tensions the chains as you drive.

The adapter secures over your lug nut to hold the K-Summit base in place on your wheel. You might need to use the included spacer to get the chains to sit properly.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Can I Use Tire Chains on a 2018 Toyota Camry with 235/45-18 Size Tires
The Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains # TC1142 that you purchased are a confirmed fit for the 235/45-18 tires on your 2018 Toyota Camry. With that being said, I took a look at the online owner's manual for your Camry and on page 346 it states to only use chains if you have 16" or 17" tires. If you have 18" or 19" tires then you need to use snow tires instead of chains to avoid damaging your vehicle. So while the chains technically fit your tire size, they will damage your vehicle so you either...

  • Best Low Clearance Tire Chain Recommendation for 2018 Honda Accord Touring with 235/40-19
We have a great tire chain set that is designed for situations like yours where there really isn't clearance for standard tire chains. For that you'd want the Konig K-Summit chains part # th02230k34 which are a fit for the tire size 235/40-19 you have on your 2018 Honda Accord Touring. These chains do not drape of the inside of the tire sidewall which is where most of the clearance issues come from. Since we have to recommend sticking with vehicle manufacturer recommendations we recommend...

  • Best Snow Chain for 2018 Honda Accord with P235/40R19 Tire Size for Clearance
What we have found that is if you contact a Honda dealer in an area that has tire chain requirement laws (near mountains) they will have alternatives that they can recommend which will give you a snow chain setup that's safe for the vehicle and will work great for traction. That said the K-Summit chains part # th02230k34 that you referenced offers the best clearance by far as it does not drape over the inner sidewall of the tire which is where the interference typically is. I am very...

  • Snow Chain Alternatives for 2018 Nissan Altima SR with 18" Wheels
You are correct about the restrictions that your owner's manual puts on models that have 18" wheels, but I have a solution for you that will meet DoT requirements in all 50 states. I recommend using the ISSE Hybrid Snow Socks - Size 66 # TCH66, which are perfect for vehicles with Class S tire chain restrictions. These snow socks will fit your tires provided there is both (refer to the diagram shown attached to this answer): A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread...

  • What Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 205/75-14 Tires on My 2017 Jayco Travel Trailer?
When considering tire chains for trailers, we here at etrailer recommend using tire chains on your braked tires only. This is because there will not be a huge impact when using tire chains on non-braked tires. With that being said, we do carry tire chains for your 205/75-14 tires. For the absolute safest chains that do not require any internal clearance, I recommend the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link # th02230k34. These chains come with icebreaker...

  • Can I Leave My Snow Chains On All Winter?
The thing about snow chains and cables like the Glacier V-Trac Cable Snow Tire Chain # PW1942V is that they're really not designed to be used for anything except providing traction on snow and the more you use them, the quicker they're going to break down. Using them on roads that aren't snow covered are going to make them deteriorate much quicker. You're also limited to driving no faster than 30-35 mph when the chains are on, so you're really going to be limited in the driving that you...

  • Best Low Clearance Tire Chain for 2019 BMW 330xi with Tire Size 225/45-18
For vehicles with limited clearance like yours we have a really great option with the Konig K-Summit chains as they are only option that do not drape over the inner sidewall of the tire at all. This is the best low-clearance tire chain option that provides much better traction than cables, installs easier, and lasts much longer as the cables are typically one-time-use.
