Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.
The Konig XB-16 Pro tire chains are great all-purpose, winter weather chains. If you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these Konig chains are perfect because they're durable and easy to mount. If you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions, you may want a chain with V-bar links that can really bite into the ice to give you maximum traction.
These chains are among the easiest and fastest to install because they have built-in tensioners that you can just pull taut to adjust the fit. These tensioners allow the chains to fit your tires, no matter the profile or wear pattern. And because the tensioners are built-in, you never have to worry about losing them like you might with other chains on the market.
If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.
We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.
You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.
Installing these chains is incredibly simple.
1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks in the chains.
2. Slide the chain behind the tire and connect the ends of the blue cable, which will sit behind the tire.
3. Around front, connect the red hook to the red link.
4. At the bottom of the tire, feed the tensioning chain through the large clip and tug it until it's tight.
5. Feed the tensioning chain through as many red clips along the side chain as you can, leaving room to still be able to stretch the hook across the tire. Attach the hook to the side chain directly across from the last clip you ran the tensioner through. The hook should face away from your tire.
6. Drive forward around 325' (about the length of a football field) and stop. Check the chains and tighten them as needed.
Quick Tips:
To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Adam: Hi guys, it's Adam with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be looking at the Konig XB-16 series snow tire chains. These tire chains are going to come in handy to keep in the back of your pickup or in your SUV, RV, to get you out of those snowier, icier situations. What makes these XB series tire chains really, really easy, it has a built-in self-tensioner to basically keep your chains wrapped around your tire while you're going down the road. With most tire chains, basically what you've got to do is you've got to purchase a separate little piece to tension your chains to your tire, but in the XB series 16, basically it is all built-in, so it's just one piece and you just got to put it on real quick and get down the road. These tire chains are going to have a nice, even tire pattern all the way around your tire and it's going to distribute that chain surface to the ground evenly to get you stopped, started, and turning properly. These XB-16 series tire chains are going to be a D-link style made of hardened steel. These D-link style tire chains are going to be in the middle of your aggressive side V-bar style links being at your top most aggressive and your rounded link style at the very, very low end of that. These tire chains do come in a very, very nice, sturdy handling case. It's going to be easy to take them off and store them away without them getting tangled. Some of these snow tire chains have come in a little cloth bag, which rips over time.
This is a very sturdy case and they come in a pair of two and I'm going to show you how easy it is to install these on your vehicle. The first thing you're going to want to do before installing your tire chains is lay them all out flat, make sure there's no kinks in your links or any hang-ups anywhere. One thing you do want to note, you want to have this smooth side facing in towards your tire when you install.First thing you want to do is start fishing this cable to the front of your vehicle, behind your tire, trying to get it evenly distributed behind that tire. Then what you're going to want to do is, behind your tire, grab these cables and lock them into place. And while you're back here, grab your chains and start draping them over your tire, making sure that this little cross point right here is in the center of your tread.Once you have your tire chains in place, next thing you want to do, take this red hook and hook it onto the red link. Just like so.And the next thing we need to do is use the manual tensioning mechanism that's built in to the XB series, and basically all you do, you take the plastic part of your chain, pull back this hammer, fish it in there, and pull it as tight as you think is fit.Once that's done, Konig went ahead and gave us some red color coordinated clips and basically you just snap those into place and then find the right link to get the right amount of pressure. And as you can see, these are very tight on the tire, but we do recommend that you put it in drive, roll it over a couple times, and then come back out and just make sure that everything is just as tight as it was before.Well, that's going to do it for our Konig XB-16 series snow tire chains.

Get consistent traction and a smooth ride when driving in snow and on light ice with these commercial truck snow chains. Lightweight chains are quick and easy to install. Built-in tensioner lets you easily tighten chain without tools.I've only had one opportunity to try the tire chains so far(not much snow this past year).
The chains were not difficult install and seemed like they would do the job.
I got caught in a wild snow storm on I 80 over the Rockies last December. Everyone had to chain up. These chains were easy to put on and performed flawlessly. I had
2 1/2 hours of 30 MPH travel pulling my Scamp trailer. No Fun. Chains of any type are hard on your vehicle, but with that said, they saved the day. I hope I never need them again, but I have them if I need them. One caveat; practice putting them on in good weather.
I've fought tire chains most of my life. Bought a Trailhawk and decided to get a set of chains and was dreading it.
Found Etrailer, watched a few videos and styles and ordered Chains By Thule - Standard Heavy Duty - Xb16 - Size 250 .
Got them a day ago after fast shipping. Told a friend about them and he came over today and I whipped one on in about 1.5 minutes
the first time and took it off in half the time. Cannot speak of use in the snow yet but I expect life to be a lot sweeter.

Received the product quickly as etrailer upgraded my delivery for free. The chains arrived and I'm very pleased with them. I have not used them yet, but will be shorty as I'm moving from California to Wyoming very soon. The chains will be used on a 2008 Honda Ridgeline RTX.
Bought a new Audi Q5 and needed chains in case CA DOT enforces chain control. The sizing tool on the website was super helpful. Product arrived quickly and in good conditions. eTrailer came as a recommendation from a friend. Have ordered other after market parts for the new car as a result of the experience. Solid. Happy in NorCal during ski season!
I have yet to need the chains but I dry fitted one and drove a little bit to see how it would perform. So far, so good. I actually and looking forward to the chance to "need" them for real. I have purchased many sets of ladder chains over the years to fit trucks I used. They were such a pain to install that I only ever did put them on one time because they were so difficult to install. These went on girly easy for a first time experience and I would reccomend them based on that one aspect alone.
Love the chains. As soon as I received them, I put them on the vehicle. The chains are well constructed and go on the vehicle just like the video shows. Also, an added surprise was the case and the ease the chains can be inserted into the case. It is great when you order something and it is all and more than you expected!
Written descriptions in the instructions would be nice. Took abut 20 min of flopping around till I got it right. Thank goodness for the picture of what hey are supposed to look like when mounted on the case or I still would be scratching my head. Also I'm not sure if you need to drive about 50 yards and correct the tension. But I guess I'll figure that out.
All that said. After you do your trial install and see what's what, I don't see these taking much time to put on at all!
Great tire chains- easy to put on. Fit nicely and are adjustable.
they promptly called me after I placed my order to let me know they were on back-order but found a way to expedite the delivery - very pleased with the service
The plastic pieces broke the very first time we used it.
easy to put on and seem to be made with a lot of forethought. Now of course we won't have snow until next year. Juanita was a great contact person!
Great product Thanks
Great service and the chains look great! Havent used them yet!
These chains were way too light duty for me. They were too small to even get through the snow down to the ice. In addition, the connectors are very small and very difficult to hook together with gloves on. Once they fill with snow and ice and they freeze, good luck getting them off as well. Ended up buying a set of regular old chains for half the price
ordering and delivery both easy and timely,Konig included everything per website.Test fit in garage proves correct sizing, thank you
Very pleased with this purchase, I've done a few practice runs putting them on my Ram Promaster van but have not had to use them in a real snow situation in this 1st year (very happy with the ease of use factor and snug fit)
Fantastic customer service, constant follow up from etrailer.com. I need the product urgently and it arrived in a couple of days all the way to Canada! The product is very high quality and was easy to install. I have a cottage with a steep hill and when it’s full of ice it’s very tough to get up even with my 4x4 now I don’t have to put sand and salt down for 500 plus feet! Konig chains are a life saver.
Thank you!
I’ve been running this type of chain on all of my vehicles, including a motorhome for over 25 years they are the best
We received the package one week after we put in the order. Communicated with Customer Service one time and they were very prompt to respond. All told, a solid experience. Now we just have to figure out how to install....
Great set of chains. I was able to put on in the dark. It was a little trickier taking them off because you need to position the car so the link behind the wheel is accessible, but still easy to do.
