Titan Chain Tire Chains - TC735DC

  • Tire Cables
  • On Road Only
  • Light Snow
  • Manual
  • Titan Chain
  • Square Link
  • Class S Compatible
  • Drive On and Connect

Get a smoother ride, better traction, and more stopping power during turns than you'd get with traditional, ladder-pattern cables. These low-profile, lightweight cables are great for driving in light snow. Tensioners are included for a tight fit.

Features:

  • Provides traction for your vehicle in light snow
    • Diagonal pattern offers steady traction during turns and a smoother ride than ladder patterns
  • Made for passenger vehicles with limited wheel-well clearance
    • Meets SAE Class S standards
    • Works with either front- or rear-wheel-drive vehicles
  • Provides alternative to heavy, bulky snow chains
    • Low-profile rollers wrap around wire cables for a smoother ride than thick chain links
    • Perfect for keeping in your trunk "just in case" when traveling through areas requiring chains on hand
  • Includes custom, rubber tensioners to help provide a tight fit
  • Constructed of alloy steel for durability and strength

Specs:

  • Fits: 17" - 20" tires (for exact sizes, see below)
  • Quantity: 2 cable chains
  • 30-Day limited warranty

Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

If you've driven in bad winter weather, then there's no doubt you've experienced the unsettling feeling of your vehicle sliding during turns or bends in the road. Conquer turns and winding country roads with these cable chains from Titan Chain. The diagonal pattern provides better traction during turns than traditional ladder patterns, and because there is always a cable in contact with the ground, it will increase your stopping power too. You won't have to worry about finding the right tensioners either - tensioners designed specifically for these cables are included, ensuring a tight fit.

If you need a little extra traction in the snow, these cables are great. But if you live somewhere where you experience heavy snow often, you'll definitely want something more heavy duty than cables. Because these cable chains are lightweight and don't take up a lot of storage space, they are also perfect for keeping in your trunk if you occasionally travel through areas that require you to have chains on hand.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's user manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Cable Chains

Installing these chains is simple.

Lay chains on the ground.

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Make connections behind the tire.

2. Slide the chain behind the tire and connect the ends of the rear cable.

Make connections in front of the tire.

3. Around front, slide the cable at the top of your tire through the corresponding eye hook. Repeat at the bottom of the tire.

Install rubber tensioners.

4. Pull the cable as tight as you can, then clip the included rubber adjuster onto the cable in a star pattern. Make sure the hooks on the adjuster face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

I did a little research on your 2019 Audi SQ5 and it looks like you have P255/45R20 tires. The best chains for your limited clearance are the Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC735DC. These cable chains require a minimum of 1.46 inches between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well and at least 0.59 inches between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself. • Diagonal or Ladder Style Tire Cable Recommendation for 2017 Acura MDX
I prefer diagonal cables/chains like the part # TC735DC as they give better traction when turning. The ladder style like part # TC3010 are a great option but they do better in a straight line to provide traction for accelerating and braking.

  • Snow Chain Options for 2020 Volvo XC60
The owner's manual for your vehicle states that chains aren't recommended for tires mounted on wheels larger than 18 inches in diameter. In many cases, vehicle manufacturers who list such prohibitions are fine with you using cable chains which sit much tighter to the tire and typically won't endanger suspension or brake components located to the inside of the wheels. I'd recommend checking with your Volvo dealer for clarification. If you get the okay for cables, I'd recommend the Titan...

  • Snow Tire Chain Cables For 245/50-20 Tires on Motorhome
For snow tire chain cables that fit the 245/50-20 tires on your motorhome, the best option are cables from Titan: - Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC735DC These cables have a diagonal cross pattern for good traction and come with adjusters so the chains have constant chains and a tight fit. Just keep in mind cables are more of a one-time use so for something that would be for multiple uses you will want chains. For chains that require 16mm of clearance you will want...

  • Tire Cables that Fit Tire Size 235/55-19 of 2024 Kia Sorento
Hey Adam, so our tire chains are all organized by vehicle using the tire sizes we know the vehicle came with. We may not always get all of the sizes for every vehicle or sometimes people change tire sizes so a better way is to just use your tire size and match it with the chains you need. For a similar set of cables to what you referenced that does fit you'd want the # TC729DC.

  • What Snow Tire Cable Chains Are Available For The 265/70R15 Tire Size
In snow tire cable chains for the 265/70R15 tire size I have two choices available. The Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains for Light Trucks, part # PW3010, is a straight cable chain and perfect for occasional use. I would also recommend the Glacier Rubber Adjusters, part # PW100. These adjusters keep constant tension on the cables, providing a tight, secure fit. The second choice is the Titan Chain # TC735DC which features a zig-zag pattern offering better cornering and braking. I am including...

  • Should Rubber Adjusters be Used When Installing Titan Cable Snow Tire Chains
Although they are not required, we do recommend using Rubber Tire Chain Adjusters that come with the Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC735DC to ensure a more snug fit. The same case is with the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC1022 that you referenced. The only difference is that these don't come with the adjusters so if you choose to end up using them I recommend going with part # TCOA1.
