Features to know about

Built for Heavy Loads and Steady Hauls: 3,750-lb Capacity Steel Wheel

When you’re pulling serious weight, a strong wheel makes all the difference. This Dexstar Steel Mod Trailer Wheel is rated for 3,750 lbs and meets Department of Transportation standards. The 16" x 6" rim uses an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern with a +0.5 offset, giving a solid stance and dependable balance on the road. The sturdy steel construction keeps things stable mile after mile under heavy loads.

Corrosion Resistance That Lasts: Silver Sparkle Powder Coat Over E-Coat Primer

Road grime and moisture can chew through unprotected metal, but this wheel’s finish holds up. The silver sparkle powder coat over an e-coat primer gives excellent corrosion resistance while adding a clean metallic look. It’s built to keep its shine and guard against rust through repeated use in wet or humid conditions.

Refined Fit and Look: +0.5 Offset for a Clean Wheel Line

The +0.5" positive offset moves the wheel slightly inward on the hub for a more compact overall width. It’s a detail that helps line everything up neatly and gives the trailer a tighter, more balanced look. The modular design adds a bit of style without sacrificing strength or simplicity.

Ready for High-Pressure Setups: Uses Over 100 PSI Valve Stem # AM20906

When you’re running tires that call for around 110 psi, this wheel pairs perfectly with the high-pressure valve stem part # AM20906. It’s the recommended match to handle higher air loads safely without leaks or valve movement under pressure.

Straightforward Fitment with Common Hardware: 1/2"-20 or 9/16"-18 Bolts, 4.90" Pilot

No guessing on hardware here—the wheel fits standard 1/2"-20 or 9/16"-18 bolts and has a 4.90" pilot diameter. It’s easy to mount up with typical trailer hardware while keeping alignment true and vibration minimal once everything is torqued down right.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Video Transcript for Feature Review Dexstar Steel Mod Trailer Wheel w/+0.5 Offset

Today we're going to review part number A-M-2-0-7-9-7. This is the Deckstar 16" by 6" silver sparkle mini mod steel trailer wheel with an offset, and the 8 on 6 1/2" hole pattern. Now this wheel is a sturdy steel construction. It is the mini mod design, or also known as a modular design. When they say that, that means that it uses a round holes all the way around the wheel for the design. Now the finish on this, it uses a silver sparkle powder coat finish over an ecoat primer.

Gives you excellent corrosion resistance, and the reason I mention it's a silver sparkle, it is different than the normal silver finish. This one, actually, if you look close into the wheel, it does have a little bit of a sparkle to it. This is a high quality wheel. Meets the department of transportation specifications. This is a Deckstar brand wheel, which is made in the USA.

Now a few specs on this. We're going to start with measuring the diameter. The diameter is always measured inside to inside, where the tire beads would seat. If we take a ruler, the diameter on this wheel. You can see inside to inside's right at 16". Now the width on this wheel, again, it's bead seat to bead seat, so inside to inside.

6", so 16" by 6" is the diameter of the width. This does use a bolt pattern of an 8 on 6 1/2" bolt pattern. If you go to measure that on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, all you have to do is pick any of the holes like this one and measure from the center of that hole, directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. If we take our tape measure again, and go center to center, you can see right at 6 1/2", so 8 lugs, 6 1/2" hole pattern. Does use the wheel lug size of 1/2" by 20.

Or 9/16" by 18. The pilot hole diameter, it's the large hole in the center of the wheel, this goes over the hub on your trailer. Diameter of the opening on this one is 4.9", and this wheel does have a weight capacity of 3,750 pounds, and then the last feature that's very important is this wheel does have an offset. It's a positive 1/2" offset. On an offset on a wheel, basically what your . What they're measuring is most trailer wheels use a 0 offset, so what that means is this mounting surface on the inside of the wheel that goes up against the hub on your trailer. When this mounting surface is right at the center of the wheel, that's a 0 offset. Now when it goes positive, that means that mounting surface moves towards the face, or the outside of the wheel. When it's a negative offset, that mounting surface would move towards the back of the wheel. In this wheel it's a positive 1/2" offset, so this mounting surface right here actually moves 1/2" towards the outside of the wheel, the face of the wheel. When it does that, it will move the tire closer to the trailer. That should do it for the review on part number A-M-2-0-7-9-7. This is the Deckstar 16" by 6" silver sparkle mini mod steel trailer wheel, with an offset, and the 8 on 6 1/2" bolt pattern.

  • Looking For 15" Trailer Wheel With 8 Lug Pattern
Hey Dave, I do appreciate you reaching out but we do not offer any 15" 8 lug wheels. All of our 15" wheels will be either 5 or 6 lug. Any wheel with an 8 lug pattern will be either a 16" or 17-1/2" wheel like the Dexstar Silver Modular Wheel # AM20760 which is a 16x6 8 on 6-1/2" wheel.

  • Wheel Offset And Backspacing Of The Dexstar Mini-Mod 16" Wheels
Backspacing and offset are terms used to look at the same thing in a different way. Backspacing is described as the distance from the center of the hub to the inside edge of the wheel at the bead seat whereas offset is the distance from the center of the wheel to its mounting face. On a wheel with a zero offset, the backspacing will be slightly larger than half of the width of the wheel because the wheel width is measured from bead seat to bead seat (see photo). It is not the overall width...

  • Differences Between Silver Steel Modular Trailer Wheel 16x6 inch 8 on 6-1/2 inch Bolt Pattern
The four rims you referenced are all VERY similar. They are all the same size, bolt pattern, pilot diameter, and very similar finishes. The # AM20797 has a 3,750 lb capacity and has a bit of flake in the powdercoat. The # AM20794 has a 3,960 lb capacity and has the standard silver powdercoat The # AM20760 has 3,750 lb capacity and standard silver powdercoat.

  • Does the Vesper Steel Modular Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" - 8 on 6-1/2 Have Offset
The Vesper Steel Modular Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" - 8 on 6-1/2 part # TA77RR has a 0 offset. This is the case for the vast majority of trailer wheels but we do have some options in this size with offset which I have attached below. Dexstar Steel Mod Trailer Wheel part # AM20797 (0.5+ Offset) Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel part # AM20766 (0.5+ Offset) Please note, positive offset will bring the wheel closer to the trailer.

  • Best Replacement Tires and Wheels for 225/90R16 and 7.50R16 Tires on a Livestock Trailer
I have just what you need. You can absolutely use 235/85R16 tires in place of your current tire sizes. They will be a hair wider, but not enough to make a difference. Diameter-wise they will be almost identical. In fact, I was in a similar situation where I had 2 different tire sizes on our 30 ft livestock trailer at the farm, one of them being the 7.50 R 16, and I put 4 of the Provider F835 Tires, # TTWPRG235R16, and USA Made Dextar Steel Powder-coated wheels # AM20750, on it a little...

  • Recommended 16 x 6 Wheel for Wood Chipper
Since you believe your wheel has a zero offset (mounting pad of wheel is equidistant along width of rim) I wouldn't recommend going with the # AM20797 wheel with the positive offset as it will move the wheel 1/2 inch closer to the trailer frame. Both the # MX59FR Maxion Vesper and Dexstar # AM20794 have a zero offset, both have an 8 on 6-1/2 inch pilot bolt pattern and the same pilot diameter. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the # MX59FR, because of its higher 4460 lb...

  • Steel 16 Inch Mod Wheel With 8 on 6-1/2 Bolt Pattern with +0.5 Offset
The Vesper Steel Modular Trailer Wheel you'd looked at, part # MX59FR has a zero offset, but we do have something that will work for you. For a similar modular trailer wheel in silver with a +0.5 offset, use the Dexstar steel mod wheel, part # AM20797. The wheel has an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern and a 3750 lb per wheel capacity. If you click the provided video link, my buddy Jeff will run you through the features of the wheel.

  • Gray 16 x 6 Trailer Wheel wtih 8 on 6-1/2 Bolt Pattern and 5/8 Inch Offset
We have a wheel that's pretty close to what you're looking for but not exact. The closest wheel we have to what you're looking for is part # AM20797. It's a silver steel Dexstar modular wheel, with an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern. It measures 16 by 6 inches and has a 4.9 inch pilot hole with a 0.5 positive offset.

  • Difference Between Silver and Silver Sparkle Dexstar Trailer Wheel
The silver sparkle powdercoat of the Dexstar Steel Mod Trailer Wheel # AM20797 that you mentioned has more of a metallic like finish compared to the flatter silver powder coat of the # AM20760 which is similar in all other ways. We do not have any chrome wheels. Chrome has a tendency to flake over time which is why we don't generally see it anymore.

  • Does The + 0.5" Offset Move The Wheels In Closer Or Further Out On The Trailer Axle Hub?
The Dexstar Steel Mod Trailer Wheel # AM20797 having a 0.5" positive offset will move the wheel in on your hub 1/2" so it will give you a narrower width than wheels with 0" offset. So with a ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # TTWTRTM2358016E which is 9.25" wide and a 95" hub face axle you end up with the widest part of the tires being 103.25" wide. We do not currently carry any wheels with a larger positive offset.

The recommended high pressure valve stem for use with the wheel part # AM20797 that you referenced is the Over 100 PSI Valve Stem part # AM20906. This is the recommended valve stem for wheels/tires that call for around 110 psi.
