1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Triangle ST2385R16 load range G heavy duty radial trailer tire with this 16-inch silver steel dual wheel. This special trailer tire, or ST tire, has sturdy sidewall so that it can handle heavy loads. It is created specifically for trailers and not intended for use on other vehicles. As you know, radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed down the highway. And this radial tire is constructed with all steel belts to enhance durability and extend tread life.
The computer-generated tread design and premium rubber compound materials are gonna give you traction, superior traction in wet or dry conditions. Now, as we have stamped here on our tire, and as I stated a moment ago, this is an ST23585R16 and the section width is 9.25 inches, the outer diameter is 30 7/8 inches. This is a load range G, meaning it has a 14 ply rating and the maximum load single is 4,400 pounds at 110 psi and the maximum load dual is 3,860 pounds at 110 psi. This has a speed rating of L, indicating a maximum speed of 75 miles per hour. And this heavy duty silver steel wheel with one, two, three, four handholds is designed to be used in dual wheel setups.
Now, this wheel does have a high offset, so it does allow for the wheel to be used as either an inner wheel in this orientation or an outer wheel in this orientation on a dual wheel setup. And the offset is either a positive or negative 5.35 inches. This steel wheel is sturdy, it's corrosion-resistant, it features a silver powder-coat finish over an eco primer. And this is a hub-piloted wheel, which means it will center on the hub of your axle, not on the lugs. And the pilot hole diameter is 4.77 inches.
This does require the use of flange nuts for installation. We do sell them separately here at etrailer.com. This does use a wheel lug size of 5/8 of an inch by 18 flange nut. Looking here, as I hope you can see, we do have a metal valve stem that's already installed in the wheel. And the dimensions of this wheel, looking at the diameter first, measuring bead seat to bead seat is 16 inches.
Looking at the width, again, measuring bead seat to bead seat is six inches. The wheel has a capacity of 3,860 pounds. Our bolt pattern is 8 on 6.5 inches. And in case you don't know, the first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number is the diameter in inches of the circle on which the bolt holes sit. So to determine the bolt circle diameter on wheels with an even number of bolt holes as we have here, you're simply going to measure from the center of one bolt hole to the bolt hole directly across from it. This assembly does meet the Department of Transportation specifications. And I think that's gonna wrap up our real quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you.
