If you keep tools in your truck, leaving them loose in the bed exposes them to weather, theft, and whatever else you're hauling. This crossover box keeps them organized and protected behind the cab, with access from either side.
You've spent good money on your tools, so tossing them loose in your truck bed doesn't make much sense. It can be aggravating watching expensive tools get beat up just because they don't have a protected place to ride. They get knocked around while you drive, buried behind whatever else you're hauling, exposed to the weather, and left where anyone can walk off with them. This crossover box gives them an enclosed place behind the cab while leaving room underneath for tools or other cargo in the bed. The included J-hook hardware mounts the box without drilling into your truck.
Give either locking knob a quick bump with your hand and the latch releases, letting the gas struts take over and smoothly raise the lid to nearly 90°. With locking knobs on both ends, you can open the box from either side of the bed. Reinforced hinge points maintain alignment as the lid opens and closes, while full metal shields protect the struts from tools and equipment shifting inside the box. A full rubber weather seal surrounds the lid opening to help keep dust, dirt, and weather away from your gear.
A large open compartment gives you room for bigger gear, but small tools get buried when everything shares the same space. Westin includes a sliding tool tray, level holder, and tool caddies on both interior side walls, giving screwdrivers and other frequently used tools their own places without taking away the main compartment.
The box is formed from one-piece aluminum diamond tread, with additional aluminum reinforcement at stress points throughout the enclosure. And because a toolbox that lives in your truck bed is going to see its share of rain and moisture, the corrosion-resistant aluminum is made for life outdoors.

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Westin Brute 71 inch long standard crossover toolbox in a nice polished aluminum construction. Well folks, they've constructed this of extra thick one-piece aluminum in that diamond tread pattern. And what I like about this is they put additional thickness, reinforcement, if you will, at the main stress area. So the lip, the corners, around the gas struts, which you'll see in a second when we take a look inside, and along the front covering that crossbar around the latching mechanism as well.
So it really went above and beyond in my opinion than a lot of the other ones you see on the market as far as quality, durability, and usability. Now, starting off, from the side, on both sides, you have these push buttons. So it is also a self-opening lid, so you can kind of see there on that picture. You just push that button in, it's gonna open up under its own gas struts, and you can also lock those as well. Now, obviously that picture is black.
We do have this same exact toolbox, same size, shape, everything, but in a textured black. And that's item number W23YH, if you want that one. So again, picture yourself, you get outta the truck, you got gloves on, maybe a handful of tools, you can just simply push that, it's gonna open by itself. Now, I had to catch it since it's not bolted in, but really nice and easy. I can put my gear in there.
I didn't have to put stuff down. You have a weather seal around the whole lid, so that's gonna keep dirt, debris, dust, weather, those kind of things out of the box. And I talked about those reinforcements around both sides of the gas struts. You also get these two foam pads with adhesive on the back of one side, and those are gonna be one for the driver, one for the passenger side over your truck bed, side rails of your truck bed to protect it. And then of course you're gonna get the no-drill included J-hooks as well for installation.
So let's go over here and take a look at those. So again, you get two packs. Each pack has two of these threaded J-hooks. That's gonna be for installation. Gonna make it easy, again, no drill, easy to install. You have a nice sliding part or sliding tray rather that goes across the full length of the toolbox. I went ahead and just threw some tools in here to kind of show you an idea. And again, you have the keys included. Lock one or both sides. These dividers are aluminum. You can pull these out and now you can have a bigger space if you need it. And I mentioned again, that reinforcement. They got it around the gas struts, protecting that, they've got it around that bar for the locking mechanism again. You got slots here to carry pliers, screwdrivers, whatnot. So it's a very nice option. You have that also on the other side. And it's deep enough, big enough to hold full size impact cases full of tools and stuff. You have a couple of brackets along the backside. These are actually to hold a level. If you're a contractor, plumber, whatnot, you can hold up to a 48 inch long level with ease, keep it nice and secured in a spot where it's not gonna get banged around. And then of course you have some extra space on both sides as well to put some gear, chains, whatever in here as well. So again, very nicely made, very sturdy, easy to open and close again from both sides. Simply push the button, it's gonna open with ease. And again, that nice polish aluminum looks really nice in anyone's truck. Again, folks, if you're looking for a great standard crossover toolbox, this is a great option in either polished aluminum like we're looking at today, or again, the textured black. Some quick dimensions before we leave. 71 inches long, 20 inches deep, 18 inches tall. And the base dimension, the part that's between the bed rails, 11 inches deep, same 20 inches through the front to the back, and 60 inches across the front. So approximately 14.8 cubic foot of space. Well folks, that's gonna wrap up our quick look together at the Westin Brute polished aluminum standard crossover toolbox. I'm Steven. Thanks for watching.
