This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the interior trim panels in your rear cargo area.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the CURT T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the four-way flat trailer connector. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1997 to 2003 Infiniti QX4, fits the 1996 to 2004 Nissan Pathfinder, and the 1998 to 2001 Nissan Altima. And on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show if this will work for your application. Now, this kit here provides this four-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights.
It is compatible with five pole, six pole, and seven-pole adapters that we do so separately. And this does connect very quickly and easily. There's no cutting or splicing of wires. All you have to do is locate your connection points, which will be behind the taillight housing. Plug in these connectors here, one on each side, and then ground your white wire here that's on the driver's side to a close nearby ground.
Now, it does include this black box. This is the taillight converter and this is to ensure that your vehicle's wire will match that of your trailer. This is a powered module, connects directly to the battery to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. And this is constructed using SMT technology, which is surface-mount technology. Gives you more consistent, reliable performance and it'll maximize your trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat.
Also ensures superior operation in rough road conditions. Few specs on this harness, the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights is three amps per circuit. For the taillights, six amps per circuit. And it does come with everything laid out here on the table. Comes with a nice set of instructions that'll show you where your connection points are.
But basically what you do again is go to the rear of the vehicle, get access to behind the taillight housings, and you'll start on the driver's side. Take the one with the yellow wire in it and you'll connect that to the behind the taillight housing. And then you'll take this one with the green wire and this is a length of wire that'll run over to the passenger side, plug in behind the passenger side taillight. And we mentioned this white wire with the eyelid on it, that's for to connect to a ground. So if there's a nearby ground, you can connect it. If not, they do include a grounding screw that you can make your own ground. And then this converter box does have a little weight to it, so don't want it bouncing around. You can attach it to a nice flat surface with the included double face tape to attach it down. They do give you some extra cable ties to take up any slack in the wiring. And then you run your four-way out to the back to plug into your trailer. Now, if you're not plugged into your trailer, it does include this dust cover that you can attach to this plug, and you can leave it attached if you want. But when you're not plugged in, all you have to do is put it onto the connectors just like that and it'll protect those terminals from the elements or from any damage when you're not plugged in.
