Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Load: 8,600-lb Rear Suspension Support

When you’re towing or hauling heavy gear, it’s easy for the rear end to sag and the steering to feel light. The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System adds up to 8,600 lbs of extra support right above the rear axle, keeping your vehicle level and steady under weight. The hollow Aeon rubber springs work with your stock suspension to improve handling, braking, and ride comfort while eliminating squat and body rise so your trailer tracks straight and safe.

Smooth Out the Rough Stuff: Progressive Rubber Spring Design

Bumpy roads and uneven loads can make a truck bounce and jar. These hollow rubber springs compress progressively—the folds collapse first for a soft start, then firm up as weight increases. That means smooth cushioning over light bumps and solid support when you’re loaded down. The rubber also absorbs road shock to prevent bottoming out and reduce wear on your factory suspension over time.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

When a curve or crosswind tries to push your rig around, each Timbren spring acts on its own to keep that side planted. This independent movement cuts down on body roll when cornering and keeps sway in check if a passing semi or gust hits your trailer. Even with off-center loads, the system evens things out so you stay stable and in control.

Simple Setup That Fits Right: Bolt-On, No-Drill Installation

You don’t need air lines, compressors, or complicated hookups to get heavy-duty support. The Timbren kit bolts onto the frame rails above the axle using included brackets and hardware—no drilling required. Once installed, you get instant load leveling and stability without needing to adjust or maintain air pressure, just pure mechanical support that’s ready whenever you tow or haul.

Video Transcript for All About the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System-T96GR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2002 to 2019 Ford F-53 chassis vehicles. And on a custom fit part like this one, I do recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, putting your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now these parts here will improve the suspension, the handling and safety of your vehicle.

These do provide additional support as needed. So you always have a nice, smooth, comfortable ride. Basically, it allows the leaf spring ample movement while cushioning any light loads. And it does not affect the empty ride of the vehicle. Basically, it'll become more rigid as more weight is added.

It increases stability, provides great performance while hauling heavy loads. And it'll even reduce vehicle sag. And what's nice with these is they do work independently side to side. They'll help compensate for any off-center loads. They do reduce body roll when you're swerving or turning corners.

And they'll actually act as shock absorbers also, taking the brunt of the bumps in rough roads. This does extend the life of your vehicle suspension. Now it does include these two AE-on hollow rubber springs, all the vehicle-specific mounting brackets with the hardware, even a nice set of instructions that describes how everything goes together. And when you do install these, these do replace the axle bump stops on the frame. There's no drilling required.

A few specs on this, the capacity on this kit is 8,600 pounds. Now the Timbren Springs will not increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. So you do always wanna make sure not to exceed the manufacturer's recommended weight limit. And this is designed to work with a suspension system that is in good working order. But that's gonna do it for the review on this Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System.

Easy to install using basic hand tools, and stopped the "sag" when I hook up my Casita travel trailer

by:

Helps prevent about 1/2" of sag with my 175lb-tongue weight trailer and easy to install.

by:

Easy install took about 20 minutes on my 2017 Ram 3500 SRW. Had about 1/2 inch clearance as recommended. Loaded up my 5th wheel (2350 hitch weight) and about 200 lbs of gear in the bed. Just got back from a 800 mile camping trip through mountains of TN. You can really feel the difference around those sharp corners and uneven surfaces. The truck felt firm and controlled not hard and jarring as some have mentioned. Going over those overpasses with the wonderfully smooth (Not) joists was greatly improved. The truck would squat and rebound again, with a firm controlled response. Driving without a load felt the same as before without them. I would highly recommend these! Ordering from etrailer continues to be my go to option!

Great product. The ride and body roll at the rear axle are notceably improved (1989 Ford E350 Class C RV , 27 ft). I give it 4 stars because the installation was slightly complicated due to the rear brake lines needing to be slightly bent to provide clearance for the U bolts supplied in the kit. Great product and wish it came in a 5000 lb version.

2,000 miles in on a trip from the east coast to the Canadian Rockies these work great while loaded and towing. Close to zero bounce while towing, I love them. Unloaded, however, the ride in my 2026 Tundra has gone south. There is a noticeable, abrupt stop of the units hitting the axle when going over any kind of bump. When I get home and back to regular driving, I may just take them off, its that bad.

by:

I've had these on our tow rig for a year now and I added buy them again today if I needed them.these have worked much better than airbags for our coil spring rear suspension to handle the tongue weight of our trailer. The SUV sits level when the trailer is on and it handles bumps and sway better than the airbags did providing much more comfort to us in the vehicle. Unloaded, we don't really notice they are there, unless, we have all the kids and some friends loaded up and you will fell them work when going over bumps.i do all my maintenance on the vehicle's and inspect these regularly and I cant see any wear so far even though we've gone on 6 trips with our trailer with about 5000 miles doing so.
I cant say these are the best for every truck or SUV, but for ours it is the best and I definitely would recommend to others.

by:

Order came fast and right. E-Trailer gets it the first time !!
Installed fit perfect

by:

Well they are exactly what I thought it would be. Hard for me to say it's what I needed yet.
I installed them on a homemade trailer from a salvaged 2001 base model tacoma. Once I get finished building it out and have some weight in it I'll have a better idea. But from what I've seen so far on a couple test drives they should come into effect when needed.
For reference I building an Tacoma based trailer with an ARE Contractor topper with a Naturnest roof top tent on the very top. So to counter and sway these should be very helpful. At least I hope so. I'm not an engineer but I did stay at an Holliday Inn once.

The Timbren SES is a simple solution for rear squat when towing. When hitched to my 30' Airstream Globetrotter (8800 GVWR) with a tongue weight around 1200 lbs, my Silverado 2500HD had a bit more squat than is ideal. I shopped airbags but didn't want to spend ~$2K for the set up and didn't want the hassle of installation and forever chasing air leaks. The Timbren SES literally installs on the Silverado in about 15 minutes. So simple. No bags, no compressor, no wiring, no air lines, no leaks. And WAY less expensive to boot. Just returned form a 600+ mile trip and it towed flawlessly.

by:

A very simple and straightforward installation once you get the oem bumper stops off (had a shop do that)
Timbren worked with me as I had a non OEM frame height (vehicle was lower than stock) to recommend the proper kit. Highly recommend contacting timbren if you are unsure of the proper kit to use. Ride is more stable. It does feel stiffer and less bouncy but am looking forward to seeing how it performs with my truck camper. Truck is a 1998 dodge ram 2500. Brake line over left side of axle needed to be secured to prevent damage.

by:

The Timbren overload spring/bumper was east to install and did what it was supposed to do when I hitched up a camp trailer. These did not negatively affect the ride by any means and I don't have to worry about the troubles with air bags.

by:

Stiffens and corrects kneel in rear end of 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500. You will notice a stiffening of the rear end suspension while unloaded, but it’s a fair trade off to prevent sagging and porpoising while towing. I found it easier to pull the rear wheels and work from the side than underneath the vehicle while installing.

by:

The timbres bump stop is exactly the right height to meet the axel when the trailer is connected with all its weight onto the hitch. I have an Andersen weight distribution hitch and it levels out perfectly. The day picture is with the coach (Winn 2100bh) with factory equipment. The night picture is after the timbres are in place. Looks good.

It has been almost a year since I installed Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems (DVF350 and DVR350R) on the front and rear of my 2003 Dodge RAM Van 3500. These bumpers replaced the OEM bump stops that were on my van. I like the Timbren bumpers much better than the OEM bump stops because they provide a progressively cushioned response for suspension compression when traveling over significant humps like speed bumps in a parking lot, or curb ramps into driveways. I did not like the abrupt stop the OEM bump stops provided when traveling over the same objects. I installed the Timbren rear bumpers first, and after a few months of use, I decided to add them to the front. In both cases, the front and rear Timbren bumpers were easy to install once the OEM bump stops were removed. Installation required reuse of the factory hardware. On my van, the Timbren bumpers are not always engaged. Under normal load and travel conditions the bumpers are relaxed and about 1/2” away from the suspension landing points. However, their presence is much appreciated and very noticeable when the van is carrying heavy loads or handling significant humps.

2022 F250 Super Duty. Super easy to install. I have about 3/4" gap between the spring and the plate. Time will tell how they impact the ride quality and how much sag they mitigate with my 5th wheel hooked up.

by:

Great upgrade when pulling our 6500lb travel trailer. Helps with sag and control on the road on our Ram 1500. Change the stock shocks and if you choose, upgrade your stock springs, and you'll get the most out of your half ton.

by:

Absolutely Pleased with the TIMBRENS. They were easy to install, and took less than an hour to install both. I noticed a slight stiffness in the ride as the rear bounced over a bad roadway. Towing is great, with a nice level and smooth ride. I am glad that I did not order the heavier duty Timbrens, than what was recomended for my truck. I believe the ride would have been too stiff. If you look at the photos showing the timbrens, the truck is still lifted in the rear, so what you see is a big gap between the rubber, and the steal plate. When the truck is lowered, there's 1" of space as it should be. BTW, I have been purchasing from etrailer for years now, and I have to say that I have never had any issues with any orders. They are my go to folks for all of my vehicle suppension stuff and trailer stuff. You can't go wrong with buying from them.

This model doesn’t work with the Ford F53 chassis used on most motorhomes.

Sorry to hear that, Paul. What specifically are you wanting this for? This is designed to fit an F-53 frame from 2002 to 2019, but there are some fits/exclusions for specific RV manufacturers. If you can let me know the year, make, and model I can see what we have that will work for you.

by:

package arrived with box lock tab not taped and 8 flat washer and 2 ubolt nuts gone. the axle ubolt bracket does not fit in between sway bar bracket and leaf mount. brake lines are in the way. could be a dangerous condition for brake lines and bracket. at least the box was taped everywhere except the lock .so much for installation. I bought the front set somewhere else. it didnot fit the way the directions stated. did nothing to reduce any sway without adding 4 shims. should be made better.

by:

I installed the Timbrens on my 2015 Winnebago Vista 30T. They made the driving a great improvement.
