When your truck is working harder under tow, factory brakes can feel slower to respond. This rear brake upgrade kit pairs severe-duty pads with rotors that manage heat and deliver strong initial bite, so repeated stops stay smooth and predictable.
Adding trailer weight changes how your truck responds when you press the brake pedal, especially during sudden stops or repeated braking. These brake pads use a severe-duty, low-metallic friction formula that delivers a strong initial bite, while the matched rotors use OEM-style vanes to help manage the added heat towing creates. Together they give your truck a more immediate, predictable braking response that stays consistent through repeated stops.
Brake vibration often traces back to uneven rotor machining or inconsistent braking surfaces, especially after repeated heat cycles. The rotors use computer-controlled castings with fly-cut, mill-balanced construction and meet or exceed OE specifications for machining tolerances. A non-directional cross-hatch finish promotes even pad bed-in, helping your brake service start with uniform contact and maintain smooth pedal feel as your truck accumulates miles.
New brake components require a break-in period before they deliver their intended performance. These brake pads use positive mold manufacturing to produce consistent density and precise dimensions, then add a bed-in coating that improves initial pedal feel and shortens the break-in process. Multi-layer vulcanized rubber shims help limit the extra noise commonly associated with high-bite low-metallic pads, so your truck delivers responsive braking without unnecessary chatter.
Road spray, moisture, and winter conditions often leave exposed brake components looking rough long before the friction surface wears out. The G3000 premium raw iron rotors use an OnyxBond matte black coating on the hat, vanes, and edges to help reduce rust on exposed non-friction surfaces. Your rotors stay looking better between services without affecting braking performance.
Replacing brake rotors is a job many experienced DIYers can handle, but brakes are one of those projects where being almost right is still wrong. If you would rather leave it to a professional, find an installer near you.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look together at this Timbren Rear Wheel BES Brake Upgrade Kit. Now this kit has been designed to fit your 2015 to 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, and then the 3500 with the single rear wheels. Now on custom fit parts such as this kit, I do recommend going through our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer, pop in the year, make, and model of your vehicle, answer any other questions it might have for you, and that fit guide will confirm if this kit will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now upgrading the suspension of your truck can improve ride quality, it can reduce sag, and it can make your truck feel more stable while you're towing or hauling.
But it doesn't reduce the extra workload place on your factory brakes. If you've ever felt like your truck takes longer to brake when you are hooked up to a trailer or you're hauling a heavy load, or maybe your brakes are wearing out faster than expected, or the added weight is making your braking feel less confident, that's where this BES brake upgrade kit is going to come into play. This kit is designed to make your truck stronger and more consistent when you're braking, so it's going to carry heavier loads. Now, these include these low metallic OnyxBite brake pads, which are going to provide a strong initial bite and eliminate brake fade that occurs with frequent stopping when towing, so you're going to notice a more confident, a more consistent braking performance on every road trip. And these multilayered rubber shims are going to help keep the brake noise to a minimum without sacrificing brake performance.
On your screen, I have a picture of one of the Timbren shims there. I wanted to just show you the construction of it, and also another photo there giving you a closer view of the construction of these brake pads. So those positive molded pads, paired with these precision balance rotors, are going to promote smooth, even braking and more consistent pedal feel as well. Speaking of the rotors, these are OEM style vented rotors. They're going to help dissipate heat during repeated stops.
It's going to reduce brake fade when towing. And these are premium G3000 raw iron rotors and they are going to feature Timbren's OnyxBond matte black coating on the hat, veins, and outer edges. As you know, heat is the enemy of brakes. This OnyxBond coating has a heat threshold of up to 932 degrees Fahrenheit, which is 67% better than the standard GEOMET coating most commonly used on OEM parts. This coating's also going to help protect them from rust that's caused by road spray, moisture, and winter driving.
It's going to help keep your brakes looking cleaner between services without affecting braking performance. Now the pads and the rotors feature a break-in coating and finish that's going to help speed up the bedding-in process so you're going to be able to enjoy consistent braking performance sooner rather than later. And installation is relatively straightforward. It comes with everything that you need, the rotors, the brake pads, the hardware, and the lubricant. But if you want help with installation, on this product page, typically found underneath the photo section, we have a link that will take you to our installer locator. Click that link, answer the questions that it has for you, and that locator will find an installer in your area that etrailer has partnered with to help you with the install. But overall, let's say you've already upgraded the suspension on your truck for that smoother, more controlled ride. This brake kit is going to compliment that system by addressing the other half of the equation, if you will, giving your truck the stopping power and the confidence to better handle that extra weight of towing or hauling. Together, they're going to create a safer, more capable towing setup. I think that's going to wrap up our look today. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
