Heavy trailers or bed loads can make the rear end sag and affect steering. These Hellwig EZ-990 helper springs add up to 2,000 lbs of load leveling capacity to keep your vehicle level and stable when towing or hauling light loads. By upgrading your factory leaf springs, they reduce sway and body roll so your ride stays steady and confident even when the weight is on.
Bumpy roads and uneven loads can cause bouncing that wears on your suspension. The EZ-990 helper springs flex with your factory leaf springs to smooth out the ride while maintaining control. This design limits bounce and helps extend the life of your suspension, tires, and brakes so the whole setup works better for longer.
Not every haul weighs the same on both sides, and that’s where the adjustable U-bolts come in. Each side can be set independently to suit different loads or bed setups, keeping things balanced no matter what you’re carrying. You can dial in the right amount of support whether you’re hauling tools one day or a camper the next.
You don’t need a shop full of tools to get these springs installed. The Hellwig EZ-990 kit uses a straightforward bolt-on design that mounts above your factory leaf springs with included hardware. It’s a clean, simple install that fits right into a DIY weekend project so you can get back to towing or hauling sooner.
These helper springs are built from durable steel for long-lasting performance through real work and weather. A silver vein hammer tone powder coat finish resists corrosion, keeping them looking sharp and holding strong through years of heavy use.

Hi everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Hellwig EZ-990 helper springs for above axle installation. Now folks, these are a custom fit application. Make sure you're double checking the fit guide over at etrailer.com to be sure you get the right parts the first time. That being said, it looks like this fits a 2010 through '14 Ford Transit Connect, both the cargo van and the Ford Transit Connect passenger vans.
Now these are gonna mount to existing attachment points. They're gonna give you 2000 pounds of load support, and that's gonna keep that van level and stable when you're towing, whether you're turning and you're going bumps and those kind of things. And it's gonna be great for hauling those lighter loads. Now again, it's gonna reduce body sway, body roll when you're cornering, or if you hit those uneven parts in the road. And this is going to be a great option, and you can actually adjust the driver and passenger sides independently to balance the weight for your specific needs.
So maybe you have some kind of like a Transit Connect that you're using all the time for, I don't know, plumbing service, construction, whatever, and you know one side of that is stiffer or heavier than the other. You can adjust this accordingly to work with that specific setup that you have, and everything here's a durable steel construction. It's got a corrosion-resistant powder coat finish. It's kinda like a hammer tone. Very nice, very good looking.
This is a DIY-friendly setup. It simply bolts on right above your factory leaf springs with the included hardware. That being said, if you don't wanna tackle the install, we got you covered. You can come over to etrailer.com. Under the Product page, maybe even the video you're watching right now, there should be an Install Locator link.
You just click that link, and based on your zip code, we can pair you with trusted etrailer installers in your area. That's gonna wrap up our time together. I'm Steven. Thanks for watching.

They were very easy to install and I like the added stiffness it gave to my suspension. I have yet to hook up to my camper but I am looking forward to it.
Worked Great! Exactly what our customer needed.
Some of the nuts were difficult to start onto the u-bolts, tried to strip the threads
Well they work great. I currently have 4 of second round of nuts that are supposed to be installed. Not catching. Which is frustrating cause I hand started all but can’t get 2 round of nuts on.
This is exactly what we needed to finish our customer's job. This shipping was so quick. Thank you all so much!!
Parts ordered, shipping box was compromised, missing parts to do the install.
Now i need to fab a square u-bolt to use the product like i planed this weekend.
Completely helped the squating rear on 350xl transit box truck with dual rear wheels. Improved ride and handling when loaded. Rides smooth and looks like it is supposed to.
It added lift to the truck and helps greatly when towing our 23 foot Travel Trailer.
Ez-990 helper springs sagged with 800lb camper and bottomed while driving over speed bumps unless creeping. Unloaded there was noticeable tightness, almost binding feeling on bumps. I removed and checking options like airbags or Sumo.
Product seems good, instructions are terrible . Can't find a video with my product for install anywhere .
Great product. Quick shipping. Would buy here again.
Easy to install, very effective and didn’t have much effect on ride quality. Mine worked on the lowest setting with a 16’ camper.
These springs eliminated the rear sag from adding a shell, rubber bed mat, and a little gear.
Easy to install as well, but recomend having a 7/16X20 tap/die to clean threads on supplied u-bolts.
Easy to install. It should help stabilize the rear springs when I tow our boat.
The product fit well and installed would have been a breeze if it wasn’t for the hardware. The u bolts are very poor quality with burrs and poorly tolerances threads. In addition only half the hardware was the correct size. One set of nuts was too big for the u bolts. The hardware was also low quality. In my opinion it should have all been grade 8 corrosion resistant hardware and it is much lower grade. I ended up having to buy all new hardware to be able to install at an additional cost. Now that it is installed the product works fantastic. Just be aware you may need to purchase extra hardware to get it installed.
Helper springs made my Ram 1500 Conversion Van have a more comfortable ride. The springs raised the profile of the back of the van by about 1-1/2", which is not noticeable and the van still looks good. My RV Travel trailer lowered the back half of the van by about 1", before I installed the helper springs. The helper springs should enhance the ride of the van.
U bolts are to long and would not allow the prop tightening.
Hellwig customer service advices to shim with washers.
Poor recommend repair.
The springs lifted my Tacoma with a cap about an inch higher. It would have been more helpful if the directions indicated that a C-Clamp would be useful to compress the spring ends to allow the u-bolts to be installed. The directions also indicated the long end of the spring should face forward. I measured the spring from the end to the hole and this was the same either way, so was confusing. I purchased longer axle u-bolts since the added thickness of this extra spring made the factory u-bolts too short IMO. I feel that should have been part of this kit. Lastly, the u-bolt on the driver's side did not need to be installed sideways per the instruction. It fit fine just as the other u-boults were installed. Maybe the instructions could be updated to be more accurate.
Easy install great fit. Readjusted for our new trailer in 10 minutes and working wonderfully.Leveled the truck and rides smooth..
I was a great addition to my RST 1500 Chevy and I transferred to my High Country 1500 Chevy and never missed a beat towing the travel trailer.
Easy to install, does not affect the ride much , worked great pulling my fish house to the lake. I showed my helper springs to one of my customers, gave him the part number for his truck and he ordered them from e-trailer today. Great product.
It worked perfectly for my needs. It helped my 2011 Silverado from sagging too much without raising the backend of the truck much (1/4 to 1/2) while empty. I can adjust this added spring to have less sag but then I raise the backend a little more. It's at a happy medium. It is easy to fine tune it if I want more or less spring support.
These work great. Very easy install. I have a bed slide and a camper top, and these brought the rear back up to the proper height.
Loaded my tacoma with a portaboat on the ladder rack and a few hundred pounds of camping gear. The sag was gone after installing these. The ride is a little bit stiffer when empty as to be expected but not bad even on washboard dirt roads. These can be fairly easily installed and removed if desired. Hardest part is jacking up the truck to sit on the frame
Way better than expected. Huge difference in the rear suspension. It’s almost like having a sway bar.
