This single Yakima RailBar lets you replace a damaged crossbar or add another bar to your existing roof rack. The crossbar mounts between your raised, factory side rails for a from-the-factory look. While most other aftermarket racks mount on top of the side rails with the bars positioned above the mount - creating a high profile - the Yakima RailBar system positions the bars between the side rails for an ultra-low profile.
Aerodynamic Airfoil Design
Designed with the aerodynamic shape of an owl wing in mind, the RailBar produces less drag - and therefore less noise - than any other roof-rack style on the market. But don't let the etowerant appearance and clean lines fool you - this crossbar is also sturdy and hard working so you can carry loads of gear. This means your vehicle will still look great inside and out.
The sleek, airfoil-style RailBar is shaped like a tapered wing. This lightweight aluminum bar has been shown to reduce drag by up to 70 percent when compared with round and square bars. It does this by putting the air back together quickly after it passes over and under the crossbar. This practically eliminates the buzzing and humming associated with standard roof racks - no fairing required. Because this bar produces less drag, the gas mileage of your vehicle will be far less affected than it is with other roof racks. And because it's constructed of corrosion-resistant, lightweight aluminum, you never have to worry about it rusting or affecting the load-carrying capacity of your roof.
Built-in Channels with Push-Down Access
The built-in channel includes a soft rubber strip that can be pushed down into the channel when you mount accessories, so you don't have to cut or trim it as you would with other slotted crossbars. And this means you'll likely never have to buy replacement strips.
Hassle-Free Installation
All you need for installation is the included hex wrench, which stores inside the tower. To mount the bar, simply remove the covers from the towers, slide the crossbar in and out of the towers as needed until the bar is centered on your roof, and then tighten the adjustment screws with the hex keys. Replace the tower covers and the crossbar is ready to roll.
The mounting clamps - or towers - of the crossbar are constructed of glass-filled plastic that is strong, rigid, and UV and impact resistant. These clamps pivot slightly to accommodate the taper of your roof. Each clamp is also lined with soft rubber pads to prevent scratches and abrasions on your side rails.
Same Key System Locks
The crossbar is compatible with Yakima SKS lock cores (Y07202 - sold separately) that allow you to secure the rack to your factory side rails. These locks can help prevent theft of the crossbar by ensuring that it cannot be detached from your vehicle. And the locks keep your channel-mounted carriers and accessories safe by denying would-be thieves access to the built-in top slot. The SKS locks are all keyed alike so a single key opens all the locks. The locks can also be swapped out to make all of your Yakima products keyed alike.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima RailGrab crossbar. This half kit lets you replace a damaged crossbar or add another bar to an existing rack on your vehicle with raised factory side rails. This is an ultra-quiet factory-style bar that lets you mount carriers and accessories on the roof of your vehicle. It's very aerodynamic. It's very sleek and highly functional. It's that's going to result in a very quiet ride.
It's got the built-in wind diffuser as well as the tapered wing shape. Those components combined really help reduce wind noise and vibration as you travel down the road. Now this crossbar will accommodate accessories that either mount in the built-in channel or that clamp around the bar. To use the built-in channel, all you have to do is remove one of the ends of the towers, push down on the rubber strip, and then slide in your channel-mount accessory wherever you want. There's no trimming required of that rubber strip. It absorbs around the anchor of your accessory and creates a low-profile design and maintains the aerodynamics of the crossbar system. This will work with most Yakima universal-mount bike, water, snow, and cargo accessories.
When it comes to installing this on your raised side rails, it's a simple clamp-on installation. The bars features these glass-filled plastic towers with rubber gaskets that attach to the factory side rails on your vehicle. On the underside it's going to feature a nice steel clamp. Now that has protective coating over it so you don't have to worry about that damaging your vehicle's raised side rails. No additional equipment is required.
It's going to come with everything you need to get it installed. If we remove one of the end caps, I do want to point out, that located right here, that's going to be the included tool that you will need to use to tighten and loosen this bolt. As you tighten or loosen this bolt, it tightens or loosens the clamp around the side rail of your vehicle. Really nice design. When you're done using that Allen wrench, you can put it back in the slot. That way you don't ever worry about misplacing that or losing it. Now this system is compatible with same-key system locks.
I do want to point out that on each tower it does come with a plastic lock core, as you can see there. But you can actually change those out with metal locks, so it is compatible with same-key system locks. That's going to allow you to secure the rack to your roof. SKS locks are sold separately and available at etrailer.com. When it comes to the construction of the bar, it's an aluminum bar. It's very lightweight and corrosion-resistant. It features a nice satin chrome finish that's both durable and very good-looking. With this you're going to get one crossbar. When it comes to the dimensions, the bar, front to back, measures 3-5/16" wide. Very low profile. It only measures 1" thick. The bar is covered with a limited lifetime warranty. When it comes to the length that you need for your application, this bar is available in a variety of different lengths.
