Yakima JetStream

The quiet and aerodynamic Yakima JetStream crossbars let you build a custom roof rack for your vehicle. The crossbars require 6 Yakima BaseLine, RidgeLine, SkyLine, or TimberLine towers and a custom fit kit (sold separately) to mount the rack to your roof. Each bar extends past the towers to maximize space for mounting carriers and accessories. SmartFill strips push down for easy loading in the T-slots so there's no need to trim them. The bars are constructed of aluminum so they're durable and won't rust.

Aerodynamic JetFlow Design

JetStream Aerodynamic Design

The JetStream's asymmetrical JetFlow shape and built-in WindRidge helps to control air flow over and under the bar. This dramatically reduces wind noise and vibration - even at highway speeds - and eliminates the need to add a fairing to your roof rack. The aero-style bar also reduces drag to help maintain fuel efficiency.

Strong, Durable Construction

JetStream JetTruss Extrusion

The JetStream crossbars are made of anodized aluminum with internal JetTruss extrusions. These extrusions strengthen the bars without significantly increasing their weight. Additionally, because the bars are aluminum and have a black powder coat finish, they won't rust or corrode so you can leave them on your roof year-round.

Hassle-Free Installation

JetStream Bottom Channel

Each JetStream crossbar has a bottom channel that allows you to mount it to any of the Yakima StreamLine towers - BaseLine, RidgeLine, SkyLine, or TimberLine. The rubber strip in the channel can be cut down to the exact size needed for installation and then re-installed in the channel. This helps keep dirt out of the bar and reduces wind noise.

JetStream Etched Measurements

Etched measurements along the bottom channel help you center the bar on your roof. Simply use the ruler on each end of the bar to ensure the towers are spaced properly in the channel.

JetStream Installation Bracket

Once you have the correct measurements, install the brackets in the bottom channel, set the bar on top of your towers, and tighten it in place with the torque tool (included with your towers).

Channel-Mounted and Clamp-On Accessories

JetStream SmartFill Rubber Strips

JetStream crossbars have built-in top channels that allow you to carry channel-mounted accessories on your roof. Simply push down on the rubber SmartFill strips and slide your gear into the channel - no need to remove or cut the strip.

JetStream Clamp-On Accessories

You can also attach most universal, clamp-on accessories and carriers to the bars.

Maximum Cargo Carrying Capacity

Full Length JetStream Crossbars

The JetStream is a full-length crossbar that extends past your Yakima towers. The increased length gives you more space to mount accessories and carriers to your roof rack.

Video Transcript for Yakima Roof Rack Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Yakima jet frame cross bar Timberline roof rack system. Now this system is specifically designed to fit your raised rails on your Equinox. I've got it set up just to give you a good idea what it looks like. With this system, it's going to allow you to carry roof mounted accessories, things like bike racks, kayak carriers, cargo boxes, and much more.It features 50 inch long cross bars. You can see here how they stretch across the roof of our Equinox. This is going to allow us to carry not one accessory, but maybe multiple accessories.

Perhaps you'd like to carry two or even three bike racks up there or maybe even two kayaks. It'll be possible with these. Now I've got the black installed, but they're also available in silver. So if that's something you're interested in, see etrailer.com.Now you'll notice that they're aerodynamic. These are going to be a lot quieter than your traditional round or square bars.

They're going to work with your standard clamp on accessories as well as your T slot accessories. If you'd like to access that T slot, just remove the end cap and we can slide that T bolt right over the top of that rubber strip to our desired location and it'll give us a nice clean look.Four Timberline towers keep our cross bars in place. You can see here how they feature some rubber coating on top and on that strap. Now that strap is not just rubber. It's got stainless steel on the inside and it has a rubber coating on the outside.

That way it has a nice tight fit around those bars. Now the other nice thing about them being rubber is that if we wanted to take it off someday, we don't have to worry about harming or scratching the finish of those raised rails. Here on the inside, you can see here how it's going to protect our hardware from the elements and also help deter theft. It comes with all the tools you need to get these installed. After everything's tightened down, the cover goes on. And if you'd like to upgrade and get more security you can even punch out that plastic core and replace it with a metal core. Now this roof rack system has a weight capacity of 165 pounds.

You do however want to check with your Equinox's owner's manual to see if your roof can support that much weight. Now I'm going to give you some clearance measurements. This will give you an idea of how much you've added to the top of your Equinox and it may help you when using those clamp on accessories. From the top of the roof to the under side of the bar is about four and a half inches. From the top of the roof to the top of the bar is about five and a quarter inches. Which as you can see more than enough room between the vehicle and the under side of the bar. We're not going to have any problem using those clamp on accessories. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it set up. I've already got my front cross bar mounted to my raised rails on my Equinox. The rear one installs the same way. Let's go ahead and do it together. So I've got one of my Timberline towers in place. We just need to repeat the same process on the other side. The easiest way to do this is to turn the cross bar over. You want to be sure to remove that end cap off the side. And then we want to take our Timberline tower and we need to install these two pieces here so we can adapt it to our jet stream cross bar. We'll take the black plastic portion here first. Listen for the click. Then we'll take the T nut here and we're going to put that down over the top. We'll turn over, we're going to hold it in place as we do so. And we're going to push the strap towards you like that. And that's going to free up that hole so we can access that bolt inside. So we'll take our included tool and we're going to tighten that down. And go ahead and tighten it down all the way. And our tool is going to click when it's properly torqued down. Just like that. Then we can turn it over and we need to make sure it's loose on top of here. That way we can easily slide it into our cross bar. So if it's not loose, we'll need to access the bolt in through here and loosen it up. Go ahead and do a few turns there. There we go it's nice and loose. Then we can turn it over and slide it into the channel. So we've got all of this is going into the channel here. And we want to be sure that they strap, the open side is facing away from the bar.So we'll slide it on. And sometimes as we slide it, that rubber weather seal on the under side gets kind of caught. So push it up underneath with your thumb and then you can slide it on nice and easy like that. And we'll take our end cap and go ahead replace that. Now we don't need to worry about setting this in a location. We'll adjust it once we get it on our Equinox's roof. Let's go ahead and do that. Now when we set this in place, we want to set it up to where we're going to have the widest cross bar spread we can. So you can see we don't have a whole lot of room here. So we're going to set it in place here. We want to be sure the round portion of the bar is facing forward. That's going to be the front. So we'll be sure to set it up to where that strap is going to go underneath our raised rails. Just want to be sure this happens on both sides. Now once our rubber strap is fed underneath our raised rails. We'll then need to connect it to the two T here. So we'll bring it up and set it in place. Now if you can't do that, then you'll need to loosen up the Allen bolt here. So once you've got it loosened up enough, you should be able to set it in place. From there, we'll then need to make sure the Timberline tower is center with the top of the raised rail. So we've actually got a little indicator here. You may not be able to see it, but we want that lined up with the top center of the raised rail. From here, I'm going to tighten it up a little bit. Not all the way just yet, because we need to adjust our cross bar spread or excuse me, our bar overhang. Push it out as far as I can to get that max cross bar spread. And then I'm going to repeat the same process on the other side. With it loosely installed, let's go ahead and work on that bar overhang. We want to make sure it's the same distance from here to here on both sides. You can use a tape measure for this or you can just eye it up. Whichever works best for you. So with it loose, I'm just going to give it a good push and push it over. And that looks pretty close. So then we'll just tighten it down the rest of the way. Now again we're going to listen for that audible click in our tool. That's how we know it's properly torqued down. Feel the resistance just about there and perfect. Now from there we want to tighten down the Allen bolt on the inside. And what that's going to do is tighten the wing, tighten the jet stream cross bar to the Timberline foot. Again listen for those two clicks. Then we'll repeat that same process on the other side.Once everything's tightened down, the last thing to do is to put on our cover on each side and we're all set. We're free to load up our favorite roof mounted accessories and hit the road. But that's going to complete our test fit of the Yakima jet stream cross bar Timberline roof rack system on our 2015 Chevrolet Equinox.

Product exactly as expected. Quality bars. Using on a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Looks great installed. Little to no wind noise. And, as usual, top notch service by the etrailer crew! Have purchased several items from etrailer over the past 10 years and have always been impressed by how timely they are and how responsive and helpful they have been regarding product questions. They are absolutely the first merchant I go to when shopping on line!

Well you asked for it so;
I ordered
this as part of my roof rack for a 2021 Nissan rogue. The complete roof rack set was unavailable le as one bracket was on back order and said would ship in under a month so I ordered everything else in the meantime. Little did I know it would take a over a year to get one stupid bracket and yes, I'm still waiting. I can't even return the items I bought because it's way past the 90 day policy even though they're brand new still in the box collecting dust. etrailer, this has been the worst experience I've had yet with you guys. Oh still waiting for my one bracket to complete my roof rack

The 50” jetstream cross bars were perfect for my 2019 Ford Ranger with my ARE cap. They are paired with the Yakima Skyline towers and appropriate landing pads (protip: call etrailer when you order to ensure you have the correct setup;)

These cross bars are SILENT on my cap. Zero wind noise. My daughter and I installed them on a Friday (I do recommend watching etrailer’s installation video in addition to the paper instructions) and left for a 700 mile weekend road trip the next day to pick up a kayak, paddle with friends downstate then drop her off at summer camp.

Even with empty Yakima Jaylows on top, no wind noise. Even with a boat in the Jaylows, no wind noise.

These are the sweetest rack’s I’ve had. With the Skyline towers and landing pads, they are also easy to take off and put on. Click click done.

They look good, too;)

etrailer customer service for the win, too. When I originally ordered, I did not order all the items I needed for installation. When I realized this, I called and they got me squared away.

Lightweight and actually quite quiet with no attachments on them. With my bike racks there is a fair amount of noise but it doesn't come from just these. Mine is on a 2011 BMW 335.

Review from a similar JetStream in Roof Rack

The rack system seems very good, but time will tell, of course. The installation is difficult and time consuming. I purchased the system needed from etrailer website with guaranteed to fit pieces. I would call myself a very experienced do-it-yourselfer. I followed directions slowly, carefully, and exactly, yet there were problems. The video for installation given for my exact order did not match the printed and actual assembly and installation directions. The baseclips that were guaranteed for my model vehicle were actually for a different model vehicle according to the enclosed sheet ... however they did work anyway but caused some "looking up" and some confusion during assembly. I was careful to assemble exactly to measurements given ... and once that is all done and tightened and "sealed up" you put them on the roof, only to find that they could have been spaced a bit wider for a perfect fit. They are fine enough and we'll see if they stay tight to the vehicle. If not will need to take it all apart and widen the spacing.
It is excellent that basically only one tool that is provided with the racks is needed. And also that each part must "click" when properly tightened. That adds reassurance and satisfaction while assembling.
There are so many models of vehicles and it is not easy to figure all this out. etrailer has a very helpful website, response, and videos to help ... but my review is to emphasize that the instructions are not perfect. One needs lots of patience, common sense, and perhaps re-assembly for a perfect outcome.

The bars are sturdy, aerodynamic and super strong. I bought this to fit a Yakima Skybox 16 and these worked great. The measurement ticks on the bottom assist with getting the box centered and have a great gasket system that you fit yourself. These mounted pretty quick even in 20 degree weather.

etrailer sold this as a set based on my car and every piece was great and a perfect fit. Communication and tracking info was great and they delivered it a day before promised.

The JetStream crossbars are awesome. Unfortunately the box that these came ' in was damaged, and when I opened it both crossbars had scratches. It is only cosmetic, but when you pay top dollars for a good product you expect that it will be well packaged so is not damaged when shipped. If it wasn’t for the damaged packaging and scratches I would give it 5 starts.

I chose Yakima because I had one in the past and they were always reliable. Thule was my next choice but didn’t like the look of 53’ crossbars on my car. I really appreciated the easy to follow instruction that made installation a breeze. The kit came complete with everything I needed to install right out of the box. I purchased the 2 Hightower bike racks to go with the roof rack system and plan to safely secure both bikes for our trips. It was a bit heavier than I anticipated (combined with the bike carriers) which will hurt my MPG but having easy access to disassemble the bike carriers when not in use made it a no brained. Additionally, I love the look of the system on my car.

I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT which has the non-functional roof side bars. Etrailer.com helped me figure this out and gave me several options that would work. As I already have Yakima bike racks - I wanted to stick with the brand. The price on etrailer.com was the same as Yakima but had free shipping and no tax - awesome. Product arrived quickly!

I went with the Yakima 60" Jetstream cross bars, baseline towers, and the appropriate pads and clips.

The Yakima product came with thorough and easy to understand instructions. I was able to get the track installed and working in about an hour - and that was taking it slow and double checking everything. I was very pleased with the fit and finish.

After a test run, there was no wind noise or issue with the rack. Looking forward to taking a road trip next month with it!

etrailer came through with speed and quality. A couple of other websites that I looked at could not supply all the needed equipment ("on backorder") in a timely manner. As you know, getting "most" of the roof rack is the same as getting "none" of the rack. So I was very pleased to see that etrailer could send me everything quickly. It is exactly what I needed.

Review from a similar JetStream in Roof Rack

I recently purchased a rack system for my 1979 Ford Bronco to haul our new Kayaks. And believe me it was not easy to "fit" a vehicle as old as this.

I had some interesting challenges - my truck has a 3" lift and only clears my garage entrance by about 1.5 inches, so whatever I got had to be easily removable (at least in the front). I also wanted it to be multi functional so that I could carry other stuff as well, and the Yakima/Thule systems are great for that. Lastly, I wanted whatever I put on the truck to look good as I have put a lot of time and $ into fixing up this old truck and I didn't want it to look cheezey.....

Thanks to the good folks at etrailer I ended up with somewhat of a hybrid approach (my choice) but it worked out exactly as I envisioned it. I purchased the Thule Xsporter Pro system for the rear which works well with only minor modifications to the truck. I can lower it easily so I can get the truck into the garage without removing the system altogether. I really like that the tailgate is still functional with the system installed as some others I had in mind were bumper or hitch attached and would not allow use of the tailgate.... And, lastly it looks nice enough to just leave it on all the time.

On the front I chose the Yakima JetStream cross bar held up by a pair of Yakima SkyLine Towers and Landing Pads which I chose because I can easily remove the crossbar/towers to get the truck into my garage. The Landing Pads have covers for when not in use and are small enough to not be too noticeable.

I also added the security locks for peace of mind.

I have added 3 pictures, the first shows the Landing Pads without the towers & crossbar. You can also see the Xsporter Pro on the rear in its lowered position. The 2nd shot is a closeup of the Skyline Tower. The 3rd picture shows the entire system installed ready for my kayaks (or whatever).

Thanks again to the folks at etrailer for their expert advice and customer service.

The Yakima rack system for my 2015 Ford Fusion is an awesome product! I hadn't needed to buy aftermarket racks in many years. These are a super solid, beefy, and very well made product. I am very impressed with the quality and fit. Yakima has obviously put lots of design time into them. And etrailer does an outstanding job of making sure you get the right product for your specific need.
I chose this rack specifically because of the spread between the bars - 32" - and for the higher weight limit, as I'm carrying a fishing kayak.

1 year later and still love my Yakima JetStream system. I've mostly used them to transport my kayak however I've also been able to transport some big box store items as well. They are very versatile. There is a t-track option as well as wrap around attachments. I've use ladder attachments, eyebolts, and Thule Hullavator in t-track. I've used Malone MegaWing and Yakima Skybox as wrap around attachment. What I really like about the t-track system is that you do not need to cut out the rubber track insert. You simply slide over the rubber, which allows you to adjust your system, on the fly, to load what you need to carry.

The installation was super easy, and despite a long time stuck in shipping the delivery itself was extremely fast, and the package arrived in spotless condition. The manuals were very easy to follow, and the end result is absolutely amazing. I love that there's a rubber piece in the top rail that doesn't need to be cut, which makes it a very flush and smooth fit. I also love the modularity and the weight that it can handle, especially for the stuff i plan on carrying.

Installed these with timberline mounts to factory side rails on a 4Runner. The timberline mounts provided an extra 9” of length, over the factory crossbar spread. The aluminum section of the jetstream bars is 70”. The additional plastic caps make the oal a little over 72”. So far it works well to carry two paddle boards side by side. The cross bars are the width of the body panels and haven’t hit my head yet. etrailer shipped quickly. Customer service was great! Spent about 30 minutes on hold to talk to someone, but Kayla was super helpful, and well informed. Worth the wait.
