I search a few different website trying to source these roof bars for the BMW X5. Etrailer had the lowest price and the "free shipping" offer sealed the deal. The bars fit my vehicle perfectly as well as the roof top cargo box I bought.

Will a Thule Cargo Box Fit a Rola Roof Rack
The Rola bars measure 3-1/8 inches wide which is going to be compatible with most Thule cargo boxes currently in production. If you can tell me which Thule box you have or are looking at I can determine fit. The boxes using the QuickGrip system or Acu-Tight system will fit. Some of the other Thule boxes both past and present use u-bolts. From what I could find, they are all wide enough to fit around the Rola bars.

Rola roof rack crossbars are compatible with the Yakima # Y07070 LoadWarrior cargo basket. However, the # 59827 Rola rack you've looked at isn't compatible with naked roofs, that particular roof roof rack is meant for a 2004-2010 BMW X3 with rails on the roof. The LoadWarrior also needs the roof rack to have a bar spread (bar spacing) between 24-32 inches. I spoke with my contact at Rola about the Rola Sport Series Roof Rack with RB Mounting System, # 59827. He stated that while it is aluminum, it is also black anodized so the system is black like in the first picture. I have included a link to the installation details for this roof rack below. When using any roof rack, make sure to consult your 2005 BMW X3 owners manual for the weight capacity of the roof. Roof Mount Bike Carrier for a 2007 BMW X3 and Rola Roof Rack
There are many roof mount bike racks that will fit the Rola roof rack crossbars # 59827. From Thule you could use: The UpRide # TH599000 From Yakima you could use: The FrontLoader # Y02103 (my recommendation) The ForkLift # Y02098 But the bike carrier that I would go with is the Rhino-Rack MountainTrail, # RBC035. This is a solid rack at a good price and it is very stable. I have linked some video reviews of most of the bike carriers listed above.
