Expert Reply:
The Thule Roof Mounted Cargo Basket is meant to be attached to the cross bars of a roof rack system. To provide cross bars on your existing rails that run from the front to the rear of the vehicle, you can use the Rola Sport Series Roof Rack with RB Mounting System, # 59827. If these can be installed between 20 inches and 37 inches apart, then the Thule Canyon XT # TH859XT will work for you.
It is also advised to check the owners manual to determine the weight capacity of your vehicle roof. The basket weighs 29 lbs, you will need to ensure that the weight of the cargo and the basket does not exceed that weight capacity.
I have added links to the instructions for the Rola basket and a video review.
