When winterizing your RV, don't waste antifreeze by letting it fill up your RV's water heater tank. Instead, use this permanent bypass kit to keep the antifreeze in your RV's water lines. Valves allow fast, easy activation every winter.

Features:

  • Bypass kit redirects the flow of water away from your water heater
    • Save up to 10 gallons of antifreeze during winterization
  • Permanent installation doesn't require removal each year
    • Install valves on tank and connect to both the hose and your RV's water lines
    • Turn valves to block antifreeze from entering your tank when prepping for winter, and reopen valves for use in spring
  • Lead-free brass valves won't contaminate your water lines
  • Thread tape tightly seals connections

Specs:

  • Application: 10-gallon water heater tanks
  • Hose length: 12-7/8"
  • Valve dimensions: 2-1/2" long x 1-1/2" wide x 1-1/2" deep

Bypass Your Water Heater

When winterizing your RV, the antifreeze you pump through your RV's water lines might not be going where it needs to go. Without a bypass, up to 10 gallons of antifreeze can be wasted by collecting in your RV's water heater tank instead of moving throughout your pipes. Use this bypass kit to keep antifreeze out of your tank and inside your water lines.

Installation

This kit permanently connects to your RV's water heater tank. Install the 2 bypass valves onto your tank and connect them with the included hose. When you're ready to put your RV into storage, turn the valves to block antifreeze from entering your tank. Then you can pump antifreeze through your water lines without having to worry about it collecting in the water heater tank.

When spring rolls around and you're ready to take your RV out of storage, re-adjust the valves and flush your water lines with clean water.

Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Valterra RV Water Heater Bypass Kit for 10 Gallon Tanks

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Valterra RV water heater bypass kit. This kit fits a 10 gallon water heater. Bypassing the water heater when winterizing your RV will save at least 10 gallons of antifreeze. This one is a simple two valve operation, these are your valves right here, durable brass construction. You don't have to worry about rust or corrosion with those. Also comes with some thread tape there.

It's just like a lock to prevent any type of leaking around the threaded connection points, so that is included. Simple two valve operation, permanent installation, complete lead free design. Now it's really simple to hook up. It does come with detailed installation instructions on the packaging. So be careful to look those over before discarding your packaging. But basically what happens is, your valves connect to the end rods on the water heater, both the hot and cold inlets.

And then the hose, this is the bypass hose, connects between the valves. So I you can imagine, this one right here will connect on one inlet on the water heater, and then this one will connect on the other inlet. And then in between here, would be your bypass hose, and then you can control the valves with the thumb lever right there. So it's a really straightforward design, very straightforward installation, it's easy to get installed. But again, basically the valve's connect to the inlets on the water heater, and then the host connects between the valves. Then the hot and cold water hoses connect to the other connection point on the valves, and then the valves give you full control when or when not to bypass your water heater.

That's gonna do it for today's look for the Valterra RV water heater bypass kit.

Glad I found this for my motorhome. Th anks

by:

great people to deal with had the item quick . but the hose supplied with the valves is cheap junk but i really need the valves bought a braided hose at hardware store problem solved

by:

Overall, really easy to install. The hose seemed to be just a little long though and kind of kinked as it bent around the curvature of the 6 gallon tank. Different brands of tanks may be slightly different?

by:

Great product and good turnaround. Had to reorder after first item arrived with the valves missing. No questions asked trailer shipped the next day and it arrived quickly.

by:

Will know better when installed, received squeezed into package. Hoping the fitting up against the bend is okay.

by:

fantastic product very easy to install made my life alot easier since.my old plastic valves were hard to reach and leaked

by:

Have bought two full windshields for our CF MOTOs. Fast shipping, great product and great communications.
Thanks Wanda

So far so good, haven't winterized yet to know for sure. It does restrict the flow of hot water so you don't get as much output from the sink and shower as expected. Also, it doesn't take much cold to balance the hot to get warm due to the restriction in the hot flow.

by:

this kit will isolate the water htr. from water system but if you buy this to winterize your camper you will have to buy an other kit with a hand pump and a filling port .

by:

The product may not be to blame. The install was in a very tight location. I had significant leaks after install. The bypass hose was too long and I had to stage the valves so as to prevent kinking of the bypass hose. The dimensions were probably generic to fit the largest hot water tank out there, but make install on a the smaller tanks a bit of a challenge.

by:

I have a pic so I can now leave an honest review. The by-pass hose that you include for 6 gallon tank is too long. As you can see yours held by my finger in the pic is too long. I had to make a short one as you can see, to fit in the 6 gallon hot water heater. The valves are good quality though.

by:

The installation took maybe 15 minutes. The parts were high quality and I would recommend this product to anyone needing to change out their rv hot water tank valves and bypass hose.
Excellent Product!!!

by:

Great replacement for existing stuck valves and old hose.

by:

One of my valves handles came off due to Allen screw was loose. They are not as high quality as I was hoping. Bypass hose is so short you have to have the two diverting ports facing each other. I didn’t even use it. Had to buy a longer higher quality hose from Lowe’s. Bypass hose ends didn’t have washers, just plastic V ends. I would not purchase this kit again.

  • RV Water Heater Bypass Kit that is At Least 12 Inches
You are correct in that the Camco Seasonal Bypass Kit, part # CAM35713, has a hose shorter than 12 inches; it is in fact 8 inches from fitting to fitting. For a longer hose, I recommend the Valterra Dual Valve Bypass Kit, part # P23504LFVP. It has a hose length of 12-7/8", so it will fit your application. An added benefit of this kit is the valve system: it makes the kit a permanent installation that you can adjust for winter, eliminating the need to uninstall it once spring comes. I've...
