Hi everyone. Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our Dometic RV water heater. It's a gas electric combo with an autopilot. Runs on 120 volts, rated at 10,000 BTU and six gallon capacity with a white conversion finish kit. So folks, this water tank again comes with this white conversion kit.
You got the side expansion panels if you need 'em to fill up the gap. If you want it in black, we carry the same unit with a black conversion kit instead of white. That item is sold separately. As you can see, you've got the 110 plug. You've also got the power wires here rather, for hooking up the rest of the unit.
I'm gonna go ahead and remove this cover here and set it to the side. Now along with that cover, you're gonna get a couple sets. These guys here are gonna be reinforcements for the corners. We'll just kind of twist and break them off one for each corner. Same thing with these guys.
These are kind of broken apart already. These are gonna be your spring-loaded latches that marry up with the slots in the door to keep it closed, along with hinges that get installed, that way it can fold down from the front down. Now, this is a quick recovery water heater. It's gonna provide a long lasting supply of hot water with just a small lightweight tank. This whole thing weighs about 18 pounds, not too heavy, and it's a very, very well built unit.
Let's go ahead and spin around, do some dimensions real quick. So from the cutout here to the back where the pipes connect, you got 19 and 7/8 inches deep. The cutout here that's square is 12 and 3/4 tall by 12 and 3/4 wide. Now this does include, again, that conversion kit will fit up to a 16 and 1/2 inch wide cutout, especially for those legacy water heaters that have that bigger cutout. So again, 10,000 BTU, six gallons on the tank. That being said, it can produce up to 12 gallons of hot water per hour. Now it has an automatic DSI gas pilot inside of there that's gonna heat the water once your destination is reached and you're hooked up, and it's gonna relay automatically until the heater's switched off. The flue tube in there and everything is a U-shape, so it's gonna distribute heat more efficiently, and more distribution to the burner or from the burner, rather, out to the water in the tank and heat it up. It has an 80% efficiency on the heating, the sufficiency rating, so that's very impressive. The electric heat element will assist the flute tube to heat the water even faster than just a gas one. It uses what's called in-pulley construction, that's gonna prevent burnouts. Now, with this, you would need a double panel switch sold separately, and that switch would mount to your wall and allow you to power the electric and gas components on and off individually as needed. Now, this mounts into the coach for easy operation. It's an aluminum-clad tank. It's gonna reduce calcium buildup and limit corrosion. Now again, you got your plug and your wires here. Your gas line's gonna come right through this rubber grommet here. It's kind of hard to see. And it's gonna come out back into where this red cap is and hook up there on that 3/8 inch outer diameter gas connection. On the bottom, there's no anode rod because you don't need one. You've got that aluminum-clad tank. That white nylon cap there, that is your drain plug. It's gonna prevent rust because it's not metal, so it's a lot easier. And with this design, if you're used to an older version, it's down there at the bottom. So now your water can just come out naturally, safer. It's not getting all your components wet and everything up here. You do have your pressure relief valve up there. That's very nice. They designed this to have an air pocket in the tank, so that's gonna prevent and help keep that valve from dripping inside of your cabinet. Again, something you may have experienced with other models or older brands and those kind of things. This is externally sealed. It's gonna keep everything clean. It's an open unit, meaning, hey, I can hook this up and test it before I install it. I recommend that. Just make sure everything's working great before you put your blocking and seal everything up and put your wall trim on, go ahead and test everything. It is CSA certified. Again, it runs on gas or electric, 120 volts, or 110 outlet, whichever. Now, this again is a externally sealed. don't have to worry about that. One last thing to mention before we go folks, this has a combustion shutter adjustment that does it on the fly, meaning if I go into high altitudes, it's gonna adjust that oxygen level for the pilot light to keep it doing what it needs to do, even whenever the air changes and everything. So, very nice little feature that I wanna point out there. Well, folks, that's gonna wrap it up for our quick look together. Again, this is the white conversion, we carry in black as well. the Dometic RV water heater, gas or electric. I'm Steven. Thanks for watching.
