The ShakeStopper gives you the flexibility to mount your hitch above or below your RV bumper. You can mount your hitch receiver below the bumper if your camper body hangs over your bumper. You can also mount it above to give your bike rack or cargo carrier an extra 6" of clearance to avoid scraping on uneven surfaces when entering or leaving parking lots or crossing roads.
No more loud, shaky rides and damage to your bike rack or cargo carrier. Unlike conventional bumper-mounted hitches that often tighten down the shank using set screws that cause instability and dents, the ShakeStopper has a unique clamping design that firmly holds your bike rack or cargo carrier in place to help reduce noisy rattling and avoid damage to your shank from rocky, bumpy rides.
The shank is held in place between a 1/4" steel base plate and the free-floating pressure plates. The heavy-duty retention bolt are used to tighten the pressure plates down, creating a clamping force to reduce movement of your hitch-mounted accessory. The base plate helps distribute the load when the pressure plates are engaged to prevent denting and other damage. Shank locks in place with a 5/8" hitch pin and clip (sold separately).
Most bumper-mounted hitches use load-bearing fasteners, such as U-bolts, to carry the weight of hitch-mounted accessories, like a bike rack or cargo carrier. The bolts can easily dent your bumper if over-tightened and tend to loosen over time, causing your hitch to bounce and shake while driving down the road, leading to more damage on your bumper. This unique design was constructed with a retention fastener to firmly clamp the side plates and base plate around your bumper to reduce the risk of damage.

Hi everybody, Steven here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at the ShakeStopper Extreme Duty for the heavy hauler 5 and 5/16th inch square RV bumpers. Now, this will give you a two-inch hitch receiver rated at 500 pounds when it's installed correctly. So this bumper-mounted hitch receiver is what you mount above or below that 5 and 5/16th inch square RV bumper that's 5 and 5/16ths by 5 and 5/16ths. And this will fit two-inch bike racks and cargo carriers. So it's giving you a hitch attachment on that back bumper.
It's strong enough to support most E-bikes. It's rated at 500 pounds capacity. That being said, that bumper needs to be rated at least 500 pounds as well. So if your bumper's rated, let's say only like 300, 400 pounds, well then you shouldn't go over 300 or 400 pounds. Now, eliminating the common failure points is what they did when they designed this because a lot of load-bearing welds and bolts on the back of RVs and stuff, they would shake, shimmy, whatnot.
Well, they don't have to worry about that with this because there's no welds. It's all fitted together, and you got a tension bolt here and different plates that hold everything in place. So it's designed to have that stronger ability, but have that flex that is needed. So it's a clamp style design that's gonna reduce the noisy rattle and prevent damage to the shank. The tension bolt up here will tighten down the pressure plate, and that's gonna push everything together and hold it nice and tight.
So that's gonna reduce that bouncing, shaking, all that stuff. I just got it hand threaded here, so you're gonna hear some noise still. But basically this whole kit is about, I don't know, seven or eight different plates, counting the outsides, and it all just fits together through different slots and whatnot. And you got your two hitch pin holes here as well, for different options. Now, it's very durable.
It does have a nice powder coat steel finish on it or black powder coat over the steel rather, and that's gonna be rust and corrosion resistant. And again, it simply installs around that RV bumper, and then you secure it with the bottom bolt there, and then of course, the tension plate on top to help hold everything tight in place once you get it in place. Now, this whole unit here weighs about 10 pounds. As far as some dimensions on it, overall height, and that's counting up here to the top part 'cause this part here is higher than here, I got 10 and 3/8th inches tall. I did not count that bolt. As far as overall width, it's the outside plates here. So again, these stick out farther than the sides. I got six and a quarter all the way to the outside. And on the width, we got four and three quarter inches wide. So very neat little product. Again, this is for the 5 and 5/16ths by 5 and 5/16th inch square RV bumpers. This is the ShakeStopper Extreme Duty for the heavy hauler. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
Awesome Product. Sturdy and safe.
E trailer always great to work with!
I ordered for a 5” rv bumper. As advertised! This actually fits a 5.3” bumper. My bumper measures exactly 5” outside.
I had to deepen the notch on the two small plates approximately 1/8”, so the 2” tubing could enter the receiver.
Worked perfect for the 5" MountnLock aluminum bumper. Heavy duty.
Works great for holding our motorcycle rack.
Great for bike rack no movement easy to install
works perfectly
This works so great! We had an unusual bumper size and were in a pinch and confused and their excellent customer service taught us stuff and walked us through the process. SERIOUSLY great customer service and it matches their excellent products!
Solid high quality metal. Clever design and engineering. Good instructions with photos.
very good bracket, quality built
Great customer service so helpful and willing to go the extra mile for customer!
I bought this "shakeStopper" about a year ago, so here is my story: My plan was to mount on the "tube" style bumper (Lance 2285) so I could install a bike rack to hold two E-bikes. A "black widow" rack (75#) and (one E-bike 45# after the batteries removed) so approx 170#. Madden voyage of 300 miles and the "tube" bumper failed at the welds due to the weight. The Shake Stopper saved the rack and bikes from being a total loss. The Shake Stopper is stout/heavy duty and easy to install. Just a reminder that most "tube" bumpers are not designed to support much weight, so use discretion on what you use it for. Wound up buying a new class III bumper from etrailer and its is amazing... etrailer is my go to for trailer parts. So I rated the Shake Stopper as 5 star for the quality and design! My tube bumper failure was no fault of etrailer.
