A.J.: What's up, everybody It's A.J. with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out this 30-amp dog bone. It's going to have 30-amp twist lock on this side and a regular 30-amp plug on this side. And what this will be used for is hooking it right up to your rig where you got the 30-amp port here, and we'll run a 30-amp extension cord, plug it in outside to your generator or power support, and that'll get you power for your rig. Let's check it out.Going to line up the 30-amp sides.

You got the female end here, the male end. We'll just plug it in. Make sure you push it in there to get in there good, and then you can just twist it to lock in place. Now I can't pull it back out. It's locked in there, but additional security option here is you can tighten it up with this plastic tightener here that goes around the outside.

You can just twist this on, and that not only protects the connection but also just secures it in place. That way, if somebody trips over your extension cord on the outside, it's not going to rip this completely out and cause any damage. It's going to stay in. The worst that's going to happen is your extension cord's probably going to come unplugged.Using our 30-amp power cord, I'm going to plug that in the end here. And I want to note that it's got the loops, so that's really helpful when you go to pull them apart.

Just easier to have that to grab to pull them apart when you need to. Going to fire up our generator outside, and then I'm going to plug the cord in after that. With our generator running outside, we'll go ahead and plug the cord in.Looking at it plugged in, now the generator is fired up outside, you can see the light comes on at the end. This is an extra feature this one has over some of the other ones I've worked with. They don't all have that power light, so it's nice to know if this is plugged in and you're still not getting power, there's something going on in your rig.

We can turn on our lights. We got power in here. You can start to set up your campsite.Now there's a couple other variations of this cord. You can get this version that's not at a 90-degree angle. It still got the same 30-amp here and here. It's got the twist lock, but it doesn't have the light. It still has that extra cord so that it doesn't apply a bunch of stress on here when it's plugged in, so you still got that extra cord to give it a little bit of a give when it's plugged in. And if somebody kicks the cord out, it'll still detach, and you won't have to worry about it pulling out here or bending the prongs inside.Now the other variation is this adapter, and it's 30 to 30. Still got the twist lock, but there's no extra cord on there, so it is going to be pulling down here. If you have a heavy cord, it will be pulling down, but this is built pretty tough. It's got a rubberized plastic, so it will pull down on there a little bit, but it'll stay in place and lock in, so I don't think you really have the problem of it weighing down and bending anything. Again, this one does not have the power light, so if that's something you're looking at, I would just stick with the 90-degree one.
