Today we're going to be taking a look at the Camco 125V 30 Amp Male Plug To 15 Amp Female Plug, part number CAM55233. Let's go ahead and show you what the female version that this would plug into looks like. If you go out to your campsite, and you opened up the cover, this right here is what the 30 amp female should look like. So this right here is what would go into this. Then you just take your standard extension cord or power cable, and plug it into there. You're ready to go. That's all there is to it. It's a nice bright yellow color, which makes you able to see it in low light conditions.
It has a texture, as well as a built in kind of groove that makes it easy to pull apart. Now, this here is the 30 amp side of the plug, and this two blade here, with the single post, is actually a camper or RV style 30 amp. So it is only 125V, or some people might refer to it as a 110, what would be in your standard house. So you want to make sure that this only gets plugged into 110V or 125V outlet. Now, the other side here is just your standard 15 amp household style plug. Some RVs, campers, stuff like that, don't necessarily have the 30 amp big plug.
They just have a single one. Probably find this more on maybe some of the older pop-ups, things like that that don't require as much power. Or if you don't want to plug completely in, you just need some extra power for a 15 amp outlet. A pleasure to deal with. The 30 amp plug adaptor allowed me to turn an RV extension cord into a heavy duty 115-volt extension cord. This saved me over a hundred dollars if I had to purchase a normal 115-volt cord.
I've plugged a receptacle tester into this adapter and use it to check that the wiring in the pedestal is correct. It's a quick way to spot open or reversed connections and I'd rather know about problems before I plug my rig in.
I've had the adapter bouncing around for the past year and used it every time we've connected to a new site. It's rugged and easy to grasp and remove from the receptacle.
