Your old AC rattled itself apart. This rugged kit pairs a reinforced rooftop unit with components built to keep cooling after traveling washboard trails, dusty job sites, and backroads that test everything bolted down.
When you're replacing your unit or building a rig for backcountry trips, the last thing you want is to make guesses about what works together. This kit gives you everything you need: a medium-profile rooftop unit and air distribution box are made to work together, which makes installation smoother and the setup more reliable.
If you've ever had an AC that ran all day and still left your rig feeling muggy, this one's a different story. It's made for off-road rigs without ducted air, so it's a solid choice if you're replacing an old setup or converting a trailer or van into a camping rig. With 15,000 Btu of cooling power, you'll feel the temperature shift in your space within minutes, not hours. The air will feel dry, cool, and breathable.
Most rooftop ACs are designed for highways and campgrounds. Coleman-Mach's Roughneck units are different. They're braced and reinforced so they don't rattle apart when the road gets bad. A stabilizer ties the compressor and coil into a solid frame, the coil housing is steel instead of plastic, and a reinforced basepan keeps the whole unit from flexing. Add it all up and you get a unit that stays together through the vibration, bumps, and jolts that come with off-road travel.
The air distribution box gives you full control right at ceiling level, with simple knobs you can reach without stepping over gear or climbing around your build. You can direct airflow with adjustable dampers, and the low-profile Euro styling helps cover old ceiling marks if you're swapping out an older unit. When the filters get dusty, the pop-out grilles make cleanup fast. No tools required. Just pull, rinse, and snap it back in.
When the nights get cold or the temps drop before sunrise, this system can take the edge off. It's prepped for a 5,600 Btu heat strip (sold separately), which gives you just enough warmth to stay comfortable without firing up the furnace. It's a simple upgrade that's especially handy if you're boondocking or working remote jobs in unpredictable weather.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Coleman-Mach Roughneck Mach 15 15,000 BTU Ductless RV Air Conditioner System in textured black. Now one of the biggest headaches in RV repairs is trying to figure out which part goes with which part. This kit is going to take all that off of your plate, and this rooftop unit does come with this air distribution box and everything in this kit is designed to work together, so what that means for you is that insulation is going to go smoother and nothing should catch you off-guard, so whether you're doing the installation yourself or you're paying for somebody else to do it for you, everything in this kit is designed to work together to make the job go faster, cleaner, and be a whole lot less stressful for you. Now this Roughneck series is specifically designed for harsher environments, so if you travel in areas with extreme heat or lots of dust or rugged terrain, this unit is made to hold up better than a standard rooftop AC.
It has a sturdier build and reinforced components, so this is not going to get rattled apart as easily on those bumpy roads. For instance, this has an internal brace plate assembly that's going to secure the condenser coil and compressor from high vibrations, and also this has a welded-wire compressor clamp that's going to limit the motion of that compressor. So this system is made for RVs and campers without ducted air, so this is gonna be perfect if you're replacing an old setup or you're adding a second unit to cool down a separate space, and at 15,000 BTUs this is going to give you about 10 to 12% more cooling power than a typical 13,500 BTU unit. So this is going to be ideal for larger RVs, think like 30-feet long and longer, especially if you got a slide-out or two on 'em. And this is also going to be great for hot, humid climates where that extra capacity in your RV is going to make you more comfortable.
Inside the unit are large coils and airflow-boosting fins that are gonna help pull that heat out more efficiently so your RV's gonna stay cooler with less strain on the system. Let me give you some measurements. The overall length roughly 38 inches long, the overall width about 28 inches wide or so, and this is considered a medium-profile air conditioner, so the overall height should be pretty close to 14 inches tall. This is going to work on your standard RV roof opening size 14-1/4 inches by 14-1/4 inches, and this unit weighs about 85 pounds. Now this does have a pretty streamlined medium-profile shroud that's gonna help reduce drag.
And this is a textured black finish, so that's not just for aesthetics, but it's practical as well, and that texture's going to help hide scratches, scuffs a whole lot better than smooth surfaces, and black tends to look cleaner for longer periods of time in those outdoor environments. I wanted to mention, too, that this cover is not like a hard rigid cover. There's some flex to it. So I think that's going to be a little more impact-resistant. I don't think you're gonna have to worry about it shattering or fracturing easily like those harder covers might, so I think it'll be a little more impact-resistant.
Taking a closer look here on this side of my table here, this does have an air distribution box that's gonna give you full control right at ceiling level here with the simple knobs. You got your fan speed knob and your temperature setting knob, and it's gonna be very easy to reach, and then you're gonna be able to direct the airflow where you want it with the front and back dampeners, and then you'll be able to control that airflow as well. And then you're gonna be able to keep everything clean with the removable, reusable air filters. You'll just pop those grills off, take the air filters, rinse them out, let them air dry, place them back in and you'll be good to go. Looking at the overall length, we're sitting right at 21-3/4 inches long, the overall width about 20-3/4 inches wide, and this is going to stick down from your ceiling about 2, 2-1/2 inches or so. So it does come with everything that you see here along with hardware to get everything installed into place. Now I do wanna let you know that this system is not going to be backwards compatible with any air conditioner system or component from 2024 or earlier due to the new R32 refrigerant that this unit uses that meets the 2025 EPA regulations. So if you happen to have any other additional components currently that are from 2024 or earlier, it's more than likely not gonna work with this system. That's what's nice about getting the kit like this, as you know, that everything is going to work together and especially work with the R32, be compatible with that R32 refrigerant. One final thing is the heat strip is available for this system separately, and that's not a furnace replacement, it's just a heat strip to kind of take the edge off of those cooler mornings, especially in the morning. So if that's something that you might be interested in, I am including our model number for that heat strip and you can add that to your order if that's something that you would like, but that would be a pretty simple install into this unit. If you happen to have any other additional questions that I did not cover with you during our time together, don't hesitate to reach back out, whether it's about this system or any of the other systems that we carry. Ultimately, we wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
